As I traverse through the light snow this afternoon, I hear a self-absorbed Lawrence (& Broadway) Holmes thank the crowd at the bar they were broadcasting from because he "knows how difficult it has been on everyone trying to dig out and make sure their loved ones are ok" this morning.

Dude, a very minor snowfall should not be confused with what you made sound like the blizzard of 78 combined with 9/11. This nut sounds like such a fool. As if everyone just made it through some major catastrophe to come out and see some dorky radio nerd at a raggedy sports bar.

Larry makes everything so dramatic. Everything so complicated. Always patronizing his listeners. Larry is the classic "Wide-eyed wonderer". It's also a phony act.

Digging people out? It was 3 to 4 inches. It was nothing. You didn't even need to shovel the drive way. You just plow through and shovel it when you get home. That's what I did.

I agree in all respects, but I don't believe that he thinks it is phony. He makes everything so much bigger than it is because he thinks he'll have a bigger reaction to what he says. He's not that bad a host, he just takes everything so damn far that he loses his credibility. Maybe he gets caught up in his poetic moments, but he needs to learn to treat himself as if he was an established host and act that way. Dude, you are not floundering among the sports radio producers begging to get a full time gig... take your break in life and run with it! Act like you belong there! That's what Bernstein would tell you to do!

Just talk like yourself. Nobody talks the way he does. Nobody has these breathless observations over simple/mundain daily occurances. I doubt Larry talks and acts that way off the air. You know Bernsie is the same guy off the air. People can detect a phony. Larry doesn't realize that. Larry doesn't realize he insults everybody intelligence with his dramatic and over the top approach to his "sports radio" show.

I have to agree that Larry comes off as less than genuine which makes him extremely difficult to listen to. In most cases I would rather listen to a genuine douchebag than somebody who I feel is putting on an act. A great example of this is Erica Sillyass I feel that guy is a huge phoney and just says things to try to stir the pot. His act is just as tiresome as Larry.

Hey I am no huge North fan but I found his show easier to stomach than Larry's. Larry and double Z are the two worst listens going in this town right now.

And guys, Erik Kuselias (that's how his name is spelled) sounds like a poor man's Tony Kornheiser whenever he's shoved down our throat!

Only difference between Larry and some of the other blow-hards is Larry doesn't say anything shocking. His wide-eyed observations are of this nature:

Larry: Hi, welcome to the show. Today I noticed that the sun came up. I found this really, really interesting. Did you notice this Hamp? Wasn't it facinating. I really, really want to discuss this with the listeners. I'm so excited about this topic. Joe, you're on the Score. What did you want to say about the sun coming up today?

Hey BEARDOWN, I was that guy who made the prank call to David Stein about 1.5 yrs ago based on the idea you posted on here. The one about some kid and his uncle. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know that it was me. Thanks for the inspiration.

Holy Cow!!!! I remember that. I asked who did that, at the time, and nobody confessed.

It was the weirdest thing. I posted that parody here and, as I was falling a sleep, I heard my bit on the Stein Show.
For those who don't know what we're talking about, Stein asks people to tell something good in their life. My bit, that Shark recited to Stein, was about making up with an Uncle that had raped me as child. In my bit I had myself telling Stein that it wasn't my Uncle's fault for raping me cuz he was drunk and I was being a bad kid.

Weird of you to bring that up now, Shark. Were you posting on the board at the time?

Listen up you burrito lovebirds: that bit was on Curb Your Enthusiasm years ago when Laraine Newman guest-starred.

BEARDOWN-
This is Razor, not SHARK. I know I don't fall into the animal class with my name, but nonetheless, I am Razor aka the bad guy, chico.

I remember even using the name Beardown and Stein chastising me for using a stage name. Before we could continue, he asked for my real name.

Anyway, I am not Shark.

Oh. I was reading quickly and I'm drunk. I thought that was a Shark post. Ok. Yeah. It was funny. I never felt like doing it. I'm glad you did. It really was weird that I caught it at the time. I usually listen to ESPN 1000 as I go to bed.

He fell for it. You had him going for a while. He didn't know what to say. That's why it's a good bit. It's such an awful thing and he has to pretend that he feels sorry for you. Then you say it wasn't your Uncle's fault and you had him flustered.

Sure it's immature. But it's funny. It's a fuckin' Oparah show. It's stupid asking a male audience to cry and talk about the beauty of life. He deserves to get punked once in a while.

I'll bet 95% of his audience was cracking up. So good for you, Razor. You entertained America. Stein never does that.

I'm a huge Howard Stern fan. I love edgy radio bits. I love prank phone calls. Stern's guys do them. They are very creative. Nobody in Chicago radio does it. Nobody in Chicago radio does anything creative or edgy. I've got a twisted sense of comedy myself. To me, making up a story of an Uncle raping me and telling Stein I had it coming is funny. Thanks for brining my screen play to the radio.

I too am a fan of well-crafted, sophisticated pranks my friend.

I pulled some good ones in college and even after college. This was my first one in a long time but it was well scripted, obviously thanks to your work.

I think Dan Patrick preempts the show now so it doesn't come on until 1AM.

One of these days, I will punk his ass again. You will know it is me when you hear the "bear down" phrase weaved into the dialogue. I;m thinking about doing a play on the recent events in the bathroom at the Iowa-Minnesota Gophers football game.

"Ahhhhh David, I did a dang awful thing..."
