I love an update of an old tune.

And I think Billy Idol's axeman Steve Stevens hit this one out of the park on one of his late 80s albums:

Sweet's "ACTION"

...any other suggestions?

and please provide a link...

When Elvis covered all those black guys' songs that was great. :P

Several good covers from Pearl Jam.

I recommend checking out One Step Up in the Bad Radio section, originally from Bruce Springsteen.

There are a couple of great covers in the christmas singles section. Obviously, Last Kiss was wildly popular.

CLH, thanks for the website, I am going to have a good morning listening to
some of these. I consider myself a big PJ fan but there are a bunch of covers
I have never heard. Just listened to Mercy, Mercy Me with The Strokes and
it was pretty good.

Pearl Jam and Stereophonics are very good cover bands.

Zeppelin tagged thier fair share of early rockibily tunes into thier marathon versions of "Whole Lotta Love." I'll post a youtube link to one later when I get home. Page's guitar playing and the bassline are masterpieces.
