TO :Whoever the fuck is in charge of ESPN 1000 11 PM SHIFT

What the fuck is your problem? Huh?

Rome is perfect in the 11pm stoner time slot. Where the hell did he go? You tape delay Scott Van Pelt??!! Scott is not the worst ever but i mean....PSSSSSHHHHT PLEASE
Freddie Coleman is the worst ever or close and I doubt many in Chicago like him. If your gonna play a delayed show Play The Jungle fools.

Remember when you guys (ESPN) would run the same Rome 2 and one time even 3 nights in a row? I long for those days

WAR ROME
WAR BUMS USING DISCARDED PORN MAGAZINES AND NEWSPAPERS AS "THE INTERNET"
WAR TRUMP BASHING ROSIE
WAR ROLLAND IN HOUSTON
WAR ESPN 1000 DOING THE RIGHT THING

I don't think ESPN Radio 1000 is airing the "Scott Van Pelt Show" on tape delay anymore. Also, when they had a special phone number for listeners to record their comments, Jim Rome's Los Angeles-based show was a constant target of complaints, even when the sports radio "shock jock" was bumped to latenights on tape delay. I don't think Rome will be "Burning" any longer on either of Chicago's sports talkers. On nights after the Bulls play, ESPN 1000 has been airing ESPN Radio's "SportsCenter Nightly" live from the network's Bristol, CT home come 11p weeknights.

Keep dreaming.

I can assure you Jim Rome will never be on the airwaves in Chicago again. Look, there was a contract with Premiere Radio, it expired, and don't expect a new one to be signed. 1310 out of Rockford is as close to live and in Chicago as the Jim Rome Show will ever be.

I'm a clone, I'm thirty(one)! The Rome show always keeps me entertained and leaves me wanting more and to tune in the next day.

Now I'd like to take the time and defend the Rome show.

The pregnant pauses. Rome is solo. He has one of the marble mouthed production staff say something in his ear. Instead of saying, "Hey J. Stew you mumbling dope, can you repeat what you just said in my ear?" Rome takes a second or two to figure out what was just said to him. Jim does his job a lot better when he is in line with the production staff.

Everybody here is a radio expert, but can't get this through their meatballed grey matter. For example, Murph is the only daypart solo host here in Chicago. He rarely pauses, even if it is to constantly reflect on things that happened forty years ago, and has his producers open a mic to speak to the host. Does this make Murph a better show than Rome? No.

How much do I enjoy the Rome Show, let me count the ways. The bumper music. The NECKCAR and golf talk. The guests. The fill-in hosts, (Sklar Bros.+ Hi-lairious=MATCH). Caller v. caller fueds. The love for salesmen. The drops,(Gimme back my son!). Alvin's Mix. Mutual admiration for Manny Ramirez. The jargon. The college sports talk. The callers bringing down his show.

Love him, hate him, or banish him from your mind because you wish he never existed, the show brings in ratings or he would not have 100+ affiliates. This ain't intermurals brother, to say that no one would listen to the show here is wrong. To say the show is not popular and a nationally recognized brand is wrong. To say YOU don't like the show because that's your opinion is right.
End Rant.

I also have been a fan of the show, and you put it all perfectly, don. I mentioned this in the past, and someone had posted a link to the radio station web site of his LA affiliate, where you can listen to him free, if you have access to the net at that time (which I, unfortunately, don't).

One of my favorite bits of his was when he went on a huge rant on carneys. That's one time I remember him using the term "Funtucky", which our southern neighbor shall forever be known as.

Is there a copy online of the parody anywhere?

Don, great thoughts on Rome. I concur.

I would rather hear Rome at noon than Mike Tiricio and Scott Van Pelt. Rome was hilarious and edgy too. I remember one time someone called into the show to give him props on a great interview with said personality. Problem was that the guy didnt hear the interview and it never happened. Rome led him on a little bit, asking him what his favorite question was and the guy tried to bs his way through it than finally crumbled. EPIC.

His take on the Egypt Soccer team getting robbed by hookers was priceless

The only thing worse than a bunch of naive soccer players getting rolled by some pro's is trying to cover it by blaming the hotel staff to hide it from your wives and families...How very SOCCER of you

I'd rather hear Frank Caliendo's dead-on imitation of Jim Rome, complete with pregnant pauses than the Los Angeles-based sports talk "shock jock" any day of the week! Keep it.
