The only Beatles record I've ever liked is Rubber Soul.

Good God, man! Have you never heard the fourth album? When the Levee Breaks, Four Sticks, Stairway to Heaven, Black Dog and Rock and Roll, all pure magic.

It's true, I have friends who love them (and maybe I'm just being contrarian to be cocntrairian) but I'll take a pass.
What's weird is that I don't mind Jackson Browne

Never said that I hated Alice in Chains, I just simply cannot stand them.

The reason I mentioned the AIC is because I hate hate hate Man In a Box
and Angry Chair, both of which I had the misfortune of hearing today.

The only 2 AIC songs I ever liked were the Singles soundtrack song, and Them Bones.

I can't stand Layne's voice, I think the drummer sucks, and did I mention
I HATE Man in the Box and Angry Chair.

I saw these guys actually open for Van Halen at the Marcus Ampitheatre like 18 years ago.
I was totally like WTF?
Anyway, I hate AIC. There - I said it. :P

Shirtless, you are not alone Alice in Chains in a love em or leave em band. They were booed off the stage of the Thirsty Whale for instance. I happen to still love the music, but I understand why there is a good portion of people who despise them. Layne was pretty lame on stage live, he was a man in a box, not moving from his microphone most of the set. For the most part though, good band.

"we" won't because "we" only know how to lose in these situations. at least colston's back...he can share in their fail.

ok let's get this train back on track...

i don't hate alice in chains, but they seem to be like...i don't know, the doors of our generation. i am SO sick of hearing "man in the box".

True, but who wants a prancing singer with random cock thrusts spinning a mic around in the air?

I've heard it a million fucking times, good music bad songs, Robert Plant just ruins it. Once again, it's bands you can't stand, not bands that are shit. Led were basically bloated cock rock with shitty inane love song lyrics.

He was too fucking high to move. I saw where the dude died, in some shitty apartment complex right off I-5. But with a voice like Layne I cant imagine giving a shit what he did on stage. Plus the guy who has a MBV avatar probably doesn't care about stage presence. That being said, I at one time worshiped AIC but rarely listen now. "Don't Follow" still brings a tear to my however. They could have been the greatest, most depressing alt country band of all time.

Early Husker Du and the Dicks should be included in the original hardcore bands. DEP, they had some movie that came out a few years back about hardcore. I didn't care much for it but you might like it.

American Hardcore. It was a book first, and the doc/film kinda pales in comparison to the book (which itself is far from a comprehensive view of the scene throughout the 80's and 90's - its focus tends toward the late 70's and early 80's West Coast / D.C. scenes). Doug's entitled to his opinion, but to say that there's a lot more to it than his list is itself a severe understatement. Also note: Bad Religion were never quite my thing - and not necessarily because of what I'm about to say - and they were far from being a hardcore band in the true sense of the term/genre.

$.02

Yeah, they acted as if hardcore only existed in California and the Northeast.

"American Hardcore" is a great book. When I worked at amazon.com, I'd always pick it, and probably read all of it through the 5 years i worked there.

All of the "bands" that have fucked up country music over the years - Brooks & Dunn, Montgomery Gentry, etc, etc...Bad music that sold out to pop/rock.

All of those boy bands starting with Menudo and stretching through 98 degrees - all of the Men Without Testicles groups.

Sugarhill Gang and their mentors with Chic - for giving us that steaming pile called rap.

Yes, Joe Perry is a great guitarist. Yes, "Get Your Wings", "Toys In the Attic", and "Rocks" are awesome, but God do I hate Steven Tyler and do I hate the absolute garbage that has been released under the name "Aerosmith" in the last 10 years of their career... so much, that "I can't stand Aerosmith".
