I do not think the Lakers or anyone else win 70 games this year. But I do think the Lakers and Celtics are the best teams again and will probably end up in a rematch in the finals

One thing I'm noticing so far is that there is even less parity than there used to be in the league. Dan Bernstein pointed out that about 1/3 of the league has sub-500 records. That's almost unheard of. And it's not just an East / West thing this year either. There is a LOT of bad basketball being played everywhere.

I have the NBA package this year and it seems that every other game on any given night has one team trailing by 20 to 30 points. I can't remember the last time I've seen this many regular blowouts. It's getting comical. Last night I tuned in to TNT to watch Celtics / Wizards and low and behold, another blowout. Granted, Washington closed the gap in the 3rd but Boston ran Washington out of the gym in the 4th.

Nope, not quite but it was a great series in '70. The Knicks won 4-3 over the Lakers. Great players like Walt Frazier, Bill Bradley, and Dave DeBusschere were on the Knicks while the Lakers had Chamberlain, Baylor, and West.

The defending NBA Champion Boston Celtics blew out the Washington Wizards last night at the Verizon Center 122-88 to win their 13th straight game. There's a reason why I bring this up, fans. Their 21-2 record to start this season is the best start in the long & storied history of the Celtics' franchise. It's a start that Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Bob Cousy, John Havilcek & the late Arnold "Red" Auerbach never accomplished in Celtic history, and they've got plenty of NBA Championship rings & banners above the rafters. The Celtics can tie the team's longest win streak in franchise history at 14 tonight at home if Boston beats Chris Paul & the New Orleans Hornets. Bird, McHale, Robert Parish & the Celtics accomplished the 14 game win streak in the 1985-86 season. Needless to say, the Celtics are playing as good a basketball as you'll find right now.
