Fans, it was 12 years ago that the Chicago Bulls won 72 games en route to the NBA Championship over the Seattle Sonics, their first of 3 straight titles since Michael Jordan came out of retirement. Now, the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers & Los Angeles Lakers are each off to smokin' hot starts in the NBA, making me wonder if the Bulls' record 72 win season of 1996 is actually in jeopardy of being broken. The Celtics, as I type this message, are 23-2 and take a 15 game winning streak down to Atlanta tonight, and host our Bulls Friday in Boston, a likely win there. The Cavs lead the Central Division with a 20-4 record and a 6 game lead on the Detroit Pistons. The Lakers are 21-3 now after their hard fought win over the New York Knicks at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, and lead the Phoenix Suns by 6 themselves in the Pacific Division. Here's my question. Are any of these teams, the Celts, Cavs and/or Lakers good enough to win 70 or more this season and challenge the milestone?
