Had to spend some time in the car early this morning, so against my better judgment, I turned on North. I figured with the Sox in first place, a major Cubs injury, and the Bulls opening the playoffs tomorrow, there was an outside chance I might catch a moment of sports acumen or insight. (I know, what was I thinking? I should know better.) Nope. Some comedian was on promoting his appearance at Zanie's. Sigh . . .

And now we have a very sports related Marissa Tomei interview. I wonder what she's on to promote?

I turned it off. So, what did the Zanie's guy and Marisa Tomei think about how the Bulls should defend the Heat or what kind of move the Cubs should make in light of the Lee injury? I mean, this is the SCORE, SPORTSradio 670, right?

Absolutely nothing. It was just Pappy flexing his muscles and letting everyone know that he knows her. Seriously. She was just in town filming a new movie, but the whole interview was about how cute she was in My Cousin Vinny.

Didn't listen. But he's interviewed her in the past. He's like an 8th grade boy with a crush on her.

Pappy- You were so cute in My Cousin Vinny

Marisa- Oh thanky thats so sweet

Pappy- Yeahhhh (blushing)

Marisa- I'm filming a new movie

Pappy- Ya know dat accent you did in My cousin Vinny was so great

Marisa- Oh thankyou it was fun

Pappy- Yeahhhhh. You are a beautiful lady.

Marisa- Umm. Thankyou.

Pappy- Yeahhhhh.

This is what I heard in two 10 minute snippets:

7:25-7:35- Mike reminding everyone that he's the reason Scott Skiles is here. Then Mike reading e-mails praising the Bookie Priest like it's the greatest bit since Who's On First.

9:25-9:35- Mike interviewing the handler for the fucking chimp from Tarzan!! Are you fucking joking! Apparently, Mike's new crusade is to get a 75 year old chimp a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I shit you not. Then he throws is to break with, "When we come back, it's the Bookie Priest.

That's just two random 10 minute snippets! This show fails on all fronts. Be it sports, politics, or general interest, it's all gun in the mouth radio.

As a matter of fact he did, complete with Murph drops (long banana, I don't have time for lunch)

Can someone explain that Murph/long banana thing to me?

I thought last winter, after North's ratings marginally increased with the Sox winning the series and the Bears in the playoffs, they said that they were going to concentrate more on sports.

He wants to go visit Cheetah and share a long banana with him.

And Beardown, are you sure you didn't listen to the Marisa Tomei interview? You almost had it verbatim.

He just can't do it anymore. He has no interest in doing a sports show. No interest in taking calls. The callers used to make the monsters shows. They need to replace north or put him with a strong partner.
