Now that we've all taken a breath.....

I've been here almost three years, lurked for a while and then joined the fray and yes, there have been some changes that have occurred over time. Some good, some not so good. On the good side, we seem to have a lot more posters these days not afraid to jump in. On the bad side, trolling is at an all time high. Some trolls are funny; some are annoying. In the end, I come to the board to be entertained. Some days, I want to talk about sports - some days, I just want to act like a teenager and laugh at sophmoric humor.

I get Ryan's point. I know what he's saying. Everyone has their own triggers - this is Ryan's.

It really kills me when this comes up every so often. WR and Nas, I respect both of you guys but I don't disagree with what either of you are trying to say. Basically your opinion of this board is predicated on the quantity of piss-contest debates that go on? Well, call me a pussy or whatever but when I come on this board and see nothing but guys like TM, MattInTheCrown and others stretching a topic to 10-12 pages of nothing but long-winded "pat myself on the back because I'm so fucking intelligent" responses, guess what: I stop coming here.

Perhaps it shows off my intellect (or lack thereof) that I actually enjoy the one-liners. I like to laugh. A lot of guys here make me laugh. I don't think it's wrong that I come here to escape from the depression of the everyday world around me.

I did a lot of lurking during the so-called "glory days" of the board. You know what my assessment is? My assessment is that a bunch of guys back then had fucking attitude problems. The day that this board becomes the kind of hostile environment that it was back then, will be the day I leave this bitch and never return.

As I alluded to in my football fan discussion in the MJH section, I am sure trying to be one-liner guy has hurt my respect on this board. That being said, it is a message board and I have never really cared that much. Outside of the board I have had the opportunity to meet some of you, and have not yet been manhandled in any way that I wasnt already expecting. Real conversations happened. No one liners.

I think when you post on a message board like this where people dont have a lot of time, or too much time on their hands, one liners tend to outweigh spending a few minutes to put a meaningful post together.

Lately a lot of these trolls have been unbearable, for a few months maybe. No creativity, no substance. Just plain annoying. I just ignore their posts. A waste of thread space (sorry, I don't know the technical term for what I'm thinking).

Like Kid said, we don't need every topic to be some deep discussion. This isn't McLaughlin's show. Sometimes you need a joke to break the tension, especially when the shit gets all too repetitive.

And Hoffy, don't worry, you'll get manhandled someday...

I will take one liners any day compared to SHARK's 15 liners filled with pure BS.

I think maybe the difference is that there are so many posters as compared to back then that there'd be a couple one-liners we 'd laugh at and now they are followed by 15-20 because everybody chimes in. It obviously doesn't matter because the majority of frequent posters like it the way it is.

I come here to be entertained too. Some days for the one liners and some days I wish there were better threads/discussions.

I don't like the pissing and fighting about some subjects like politics but the hands across america shit makes my skin crawl too. A lot of my favorite posters don't post as often but this board is what you make it and it is what you allow it to be. Kid, the guys in the old days were a little rough but they had thoughts that they backed up with valid coherent points and stuck to topics. I enjoyed reading that board for sports and radio. I mostly stay in the General section now.

I say what I want whether it is stating an opinion or trying to be funny. I am great, so if any of you don't like it .

Peace will only come when the Politics section is revealed.
