While I wasn't around in the "early", "underground" days, some of the threads that date back that far that I've read are filled with one-liners. The OG thread is practically entirely made up of one-liners and insults.

That's The Golden Age of CSFMB, when everyone was classy and respectable-like.

And we all wore Fedoras, to the game, to the store, and at times may have been the only article of clothing on.

'Dem was da daaaays.

It really kills me when this comes up every so often. WR and Nas, I respect both of you guys but I don't disagree with what either of you are trying to say. Basically your opinion of this board is predicated on the quantity of piss-contest debates that go on? Well, call me a pussy or whatever but when I come on this board and see nothing but guys like TM, MattInTheCrown and others stretching a topic to 10-12 pages of nothing but long-winded "pat myself on the back because I'm so fucking intelligent" responses, guess what: I stop coming here.

Perhaps it shows off my intellect (or lack thereof) that I actually enjoy the one-liners. I like to laugh. A lot of guys here make me laugh. I don't think it's wrong that I come here to escape from the depression of the everyday world around me.

I did a lot of lurking during the so-called "glory days" of the board. You know what my assessment is? My assessment is that a bunch of guys back then had fucking attitude problems. The day that this board becomes the kind of hostile environment that it was back then, will be the day I leave this bitch and never return.

I understand your view and I respect it. I think the over saturation of grade school humor gets old. I like to laugh as much as anyone else but I also love the TM and MITC debates. There is nothing wrong with a good pissing match but I could settle for a regular debate. IIRC Favre Fan and I didn't agree on much but we always had a respectful debate. Those types of debates mixed with grade school humor is fine to me. However when the board is continually getting spammed by trolls and even some regular posters it really gets annoying after a while.

Thats the real problem with the board. I havent been around to straighten you knuckleheads out lately. Hopefully Ill get to my permanent duty station pretty soon and be able to check in regularly.

I suppose we all have things about this board that we dislike, but I have to say it's pretty ironic that you single me out for "patting myself on the back" with a superior attitude when you both "idolize" B&B, two of the most condescending radio hosts on the air, and your posts in their section (not to mention the old North forum) seek to emulate that arrogance. Maybe if you expended less effort trying to police the posting habits of others and more time considering your own track record here, you'd be able to recognize the massive hypocrisy lying at the core of your attitude towards this board.

Hey FF, good to see you back. I assume you haven't had much time to be following the NBA so let me inform you the Hawks are off to a scorching 17-10 start (including 2 last second losses to Boston that should have been W's)

Great post, Midget. Pat yourself on the back for that one.

Another line. OK - I'm in the clear.

It may be ironic and maybe OKC is being hypocritical - not sure . . . but do you agree or disagree with his assessment?

there is a distiction that needs to be made here. Long political posts involving MITC and others are not funny, nor were they intended to be. The viritrol that is spilled on those pages tends to make many people uncomfortable. You sir, come off as a super intelligent person who is always right, which is probably true. However, the main difference between you and B&B is that while all three of you hold yourselves in extremely high regard and yet have your own blind areas, to me and my particular sense of humor you are only funny part of the time while B&B is funny almost all of the time. While Cairo defends B&B to the death, he himself is not all that arrogant even though the subjects he is defending are. In my very fallible opinion, of course. Speaking only for myself, B&B often lift me out of a bad day and give me a laugh. It makes a difference.

So Kid Cairo, you'd rather respond as a mult and not as yourself to TM?

I guess we have a difference of opinion with regards to Cairo since I would definitely call someone who tells others what they can and cannot post "superior" and "arrogant". The fact that he amuses himself--and you, apparently, too--while doing so doesn't make him any less obnoxious. This doesn't, however, preclude me from liking Cairo and enjoying many of his posts. But his repeated attempts to monolithically control the tone and substance of the board strike me as both narcissistic and quixotic. I think he'd be far better off just ignoring the posts or posters he doesn't like rather than being such a drama queen about everything. Isn't that what most of us do anyway--both on the board and in our "real" lives?

As for your other thoughts, their rather bizarre construction makes it impossible for me to decipher them. I will thus refrain from further comment on your post.

one day Midget, when you propose something that I flat out disagree with, we will have a long discussion that the board may find amusing, or it may not. I spoke my piece and Cairo certainly can defend himself far better than I. Until the time comes for that long discussion, your father was a hamster and your mother smelt of elderberry...

I'm not quite sure what any of the above means, but I certainly look forward to the day when you are able to string together enough coherent thoughts to provoke a lengthy response from me!
