Fans, one of the most exciteable play-by-play voices in sports TV today is Gus Johnson. According to awfulannouncing.com, it has been learned that Gus has been hired to call PBP for the upcoming Big Ten basketball season on the FOX-owned Big Ten Network, now found on DIRECTV 610. Gus is one of three new hires by the nearly 2 year old college sports channel, as onetime former Bull & Illinois standout Kendall Gill & former Atlanta Hawk & Michigan State guard Steve Smith have been added as new analysts for the upcoming season. Gus will continue to call to NFL & NCAA Basketball games for CBS Sports, while Kendall & Norm Van Lier will continue to outstyle Mark Schanowski on Comcast SportsNet's studio coverage of Bulls' basketball.

Sorry to hear that SHARK. You keep reaching for that brass ring and you'll get your own announcing gig soon enough!

Gus Johnson had a doubleheader this weekend in Seattle. Saturday afternoon, he & former Bull Greg Anthony called the overtime NCAA Basketball game at KeyArena between UCONN & Gonzaga on CBS Sports. Yesterday, Gus & Steve Tasker were at Qwest Field to see the lifeless New York Jets, even with Brett Favre, bellyflop vs. the lowly Seattle Seahawks that may keep "Gang Green" home for the holidays. Tonight, Gus & John Laskowski call Indiana's home game in Bloomington on the Big Ten Network vs. Northeastern...

Gus was in rare form yesterday.

I thought he was going to have a coronary when Favre had a receiver drop the ball over the middle when they were down 10 with about a minute left to play.
