That used to be my favorite sportstalk show ever and what got me into sports radio. Anyone remember those days?

I remember when Dan Azzaro tried to take over then Murphy went to the score in 1992.

This was THE BEST sports radio show in chicago at that time in the last 20 years. Murph was fresh and new, and it was truly, 'FANS TALKING TO FANS', why did it work? because he actually took calls from the FANs. Remember then, you had guys like Coppock, WGN , and others that would never take calls and it was always guests that were on. And if they did take calls, they'd treat the caller like an idiot since they were the 'experts' since they were on fucking radio. Murph changed that and it was a blast. The same concept carried over to the Score and that's why the Score was so good in those early years.

Too bad Murph has turned into a complete tool since then. But he was a tool back then too as I've posted in the Murph board many times. To summarize, I was around 18/19 and murph had a show live at the local mall. I went there to meet him and he was a total jerkfoff. if you want more details, just try to look at my older posts and I'm sure you'll find it. Probably posted it in the murph section.

Anyway, what was that tune he use to play to start the Fan Talk show? Some instrumental song , old fashioned. Always wanted to find out the name : Went like this :
DA - DAT- DA- |
DAT -DAT -DA -DAT -DA |
DA - DAT- DA- |
DAT -DAT -DA -DAT -DA |
DA - DAT- DA- |
DAT-DAT -DA - DA- DA- DA-
DA-DA -DA -DA -DA -DA -DA - DUM

Emailed the mofo like 100 million fucking times about the name of the song , fucker never emails me back.

Oh yeah, remember he was after that fucking nutcase Bob Lassiter. Murph had some balls back then and use to make fun of Lassiter.

It's the theme from the Gillette Cavalcade of Sports back in the 50s. Hard to find it by googling it but here's a place where you can get it as your ring-tone! http://mxr.cc/ringtone:1131715/ (it plays a sample of it too).

Murphy is a miserable old man who cant take any caller questioning his thoughts.

This thread reminded me of something.

The only person Murph has been literally a asshole to ON-AIR was this caller named Stephanie back on the WLS days and first few years of his Score show. Anyone remember her? She seemed just innocent and wanted to talk cubs baseball, but I think Murph thought of her as some stalker or just something different and crap on her every time she called until she stopped calling. Should have seen it then about Murph.

I think that was Park Ridge Stephanie, and I would guess that was her who was posting here under a similar name for a while earlier this year.

I remember too when Mike North was Murph's weekly handicapping expert during football season. Ah, if we only knew what was ahead of us, lo those many years ago.
