North cracks me up... This isn't the first time he's whined about SCR promos for sister stations either. I vividly remember ESPNAM1000 running ads for 94.7 THE ZONE a year ago too (not to mention ads for THE ZONE on their website as well).... It didn't seem to hurt ESPN's ratings, and actually the Zone imploded and is no longer.

Hopefully Pappy doesn't realize that there's an ad telling people to go watch UPN on their web page, along with a mention of WBBM AM 780's Jeff Joniak for the Draft Day bash at the Cadillac Club

Keep whining Hot Dog Mike - just keep being your predictably outlandish self...

From Feder's column today:

Never one to shy away from a good fight, Mike North is at war with his WSCR-AM (670) bosses over commercials they're airing for a competing radio station.

Twice in the past week, the Score's morning personality has blasted management for running ads during White Sox baseball broadcasts promoting adult rocker WXRT-FM (93.1).

Although both the Score and WXRT are owned by CBS Radio (and WXRT previously ran ads for the Score's Sox broadcasts), North pointed out that the two stations target similar audiences -- listeners between the ages of 25 and 54. On Tuesday's show, he railed against the arrangement, calling it "ridiculous" and "just plain stupid."

Paul Agase, vice president and general manager of the sports/talk station, dismissed North's complaint out of hand. "That's his opinion," he said.

Told of Agase's reaction, North exploded once again: "In my opinion, if that's what he said, then that's a guy who doesn't have a grasp of what is going on here," he said.

"Don't talk to me about our ratings when you're telling people to go to another station. How would you like to be an advertiser on the Score and hear the station say: 'We want you to go to WXRT?'

"I can't even get a billboard in this town, and they're promoting another station. To me, it's absolutely unconscionable."

Hey Mike, your ratings aren't lousy because of the lack of billboards. They are lousy for one simple reason--YOUR SHOW SUCKS.

Actually, North is right. Advertising another station during the morning show (supposedly the Score's big time show) makes sense how ??

Actually, North is full of crap. This cross-promotional BS goes on across the board, both in radio and television. That’s what happens when a small handful of conglomerates own the airwaves. They pimp all of their outlets. Besides, have none of you seen North’s trainwreck of a show promoted outside of WSCR? I have. So pappy, who ya crappy?

This scumbag is amazing. Hey Pappy the very management you rip allow you to promote your own web site instead of the company's. No show on the station has been more promoted then yours.

It's not even close. He must get 80% of the promo spots dedicated to his crap show. "Mike North Talks Sports..."

I think the biggest example of his BS is Mike showing up on NBC and before that, WGN. GN especially, provides much of the same info that radio does, and they do it in a funnier way than the MNMS show.

I think this is the first salvo to cushion the blow of the impending ratings disaster coming out later today.

Isnt he the same guy that showed up for ESPN radio remote a few days ago? One seems worse than the other I think. CBS is CBS. ESPN is NOT!

I guess cardboard cutouts at Best Buy don't count as advertising these days?

But also, I remembers seeing the Caucasuian Mang TV spot. That was sincs the first of the year. Does that count for a Q1 ad?

I PREDICT...North gets sent away from Mornings and the Score soon and lands with his tail partially between his legs...on ESPN 1000 mid days with Silvy. Carmen will then be paired up with Hood for nights and weekends. Fights between Silvy and North daily. Hilarity ensues.

I'm so sick of this fucker whining about not having a goddamn billboard. Hey Mike, if you're so sure a billboard is the missing link between you and ratings nirvana, pry open your wallet and BUY A FUCKING BILLBOARD AND STFU!!!

As others have stated, NO ONE gets any where the amount of promo time you do. Damn near every block of commercials has a promo for your shit show in it. Not to mention the updates replaying sound bites of your crap interviews all day. Plus, you've poached every first rate/interesting guest for your show (always the team player Pappy).

Look no further than today's show for why your ratings are akin to a test pattern:
9:20-9:25- Mike AGAIN reads fake e-mails praising Bookie Priest. (apparently, this is a daily feature)
9:25-9:30- Mike's bad Santo impression with lots of tasteless jokes about his stumps. (looks like Mikey's looking for his own Ed Sherman collumn)
9:35-9:45- Mike interviews some demented old fucker from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In case you forgot, Mike's trying to get the chimp from Tarzan a star!! Seriously! It was actually kind of funny, because the guy completely blew him off and bitched about all the commercials he had to listen to while he was on hold. That's just a 25 minute sampling. I don't want to meet the person who can tolerate 4 hours.

I envision sports radio ratings to tank again.

I think Brandmeier will dominate.

Mike and Mike will be strong, maybe coming in 2nd or 3rd with men.....

And North coming up the rear (but getting a sound ass whoopin' again)

Anybody esle noticed we can't even get through an update lately without that day's anchor saying "as heard on the MNMS" or "tune into the MNMS" at least 5 times?

Cmon Pappy. You used to be a good listen. Focus on getting back the show you had going when "Monsters" was on and quit whining about billboards and XRT and The Bookie Priest. I don't think anybody would complain at all if that show had stayed together and was our AM drive option now.

It's garbage, because, do you listen to sportstalk all day? No, you listen to music, news, etc. Now, you can go to a Bonneville station, but if they can do something to stir you to a CBS station, isn't that better?

Another thought: we know whose on during the day, and what they're like. Listening to B&B, I don't need a North advert to direct me to the morning show. More likely, I want to listen to sportstalk in the morning, and either tune in to ESPN or the Score, until I find someone I like.

Now mind you, until Mully and Hanley, I won't find anyone I want to listen to. But that's neither here nor there...

Was anyone listening to Bernstein today when they played the drop of North piping up with something to the effect of "Abbatacoloa not booking him or something."...Was this around the time the Caucasion CD came out and he was being featured as a guest on other 'SCR shows? What is it with this ass hat and his shameful self-promoting?

YOU'RE NOT A BIG DEAL MIKE GET THE BLUE FUCK OVER IT!

Yes, B&B didn't ask North to come on the show to promote his cd. IIRC B&B response was something like, "Well, he can come on the show if he wants. He knows where we are. We didn't know we had to call him."

Thanks for the confirmation Punky; I've tried my best to defend Mike in the past whenever possible, but now he just makes it too fuckin hard....

Get rid of this ass clown(and with the recent column from Federer, and Agasse's quotes, maybe we're not too soon of from him being kicked to the curb?"

Wishful thinking I know

Yeah, he stumbled into the MJH remote to see how a sucessful show was run. He than made a big deal about MVP taking his picture and possibly putting it on their website.
