North cracks me up... This isn't the first time he's whined about SCR promos for sister stations either. I vividly remember ESPNAM1000 running ads for 94.7 THE ZONE a year ago too (not to mention ads for THE ZONE on their website as well).... It didn't seem to hurt ESPN's ratings, and actually the Zone imploded and is no longer.
Hopefully Pappy doesn't realize that there's an ad telling people to go watch UPN on their web page, along with a mention of WBBM AM 780's Jeff Joniak for the Draft Day bash at the Cadillac Club
Keep whining Hot Dog Mike - just keep being your predictably outlandish self...
From Feder's column today:
Never one to shy away from a good fight, Mike North is at war with his WSCR-AM (670) bosses over commercials they're airing for a competing radio station.
Twice in the past week, the Score's morning personality has blasted management for running ads during White Sox baseball broadcasts promoting adult rocker WXRT-FM (93.1).
Although both the Score and WXRT are owned by CBS Radio (and WXRT previously ran ads for the Score's Sox broadcasts), North pointed out that the two stations target similar audiences -- listeners between the ages of 25 and 54. On Tuesday's show, he railed against the arrangement, calling it "ridiculous" and "just plain stupid."
Paul Agase, vice president and general manager of the sports/talk station, dismissed North's complaint out of hand. "That's his opinion," he said.
Told of Agase's reaction, North exploded once again: "In my opinion, if that's what he said, then that's a guy who doesn't have a grasp of what is going on here," he said.
"Don't talk to me about our ratings when you're telling people to go to another station. How would you like to be an advertiser on the Score and hear the station say: 'We want you to go to WXRT?'"I can't even get a billboard in this town, and they're promoting another station. To me, it's absolutely unconscionable."
