This show is horrendous. The only reason I started listening was for a local morning show that didn't involve Mike North. I can no longer listen to this garbage. Hanley sounds like a complete moron when he is talking about anything other than the Bulls. Mulligan turns into a stuttering buffoon anytime someone throws him a curveball. Oh and STOP YELLING AT ME! He sounds like some sort of angry Muppet. I guess it's back to Mike & Mike 'till the NFL playoffs are over. After that, I just don't know...

I'm sure there are still people in your life that care about you, Ivan. Probably. I mean, even if it's just your mailman. The guy needs a job. Don't do anything crazy.

I think all sports radio in Chicago is going to suck until about late-March. Sorry to those Hawks fans, Bulls fans, and radio hosts among us but I just don't foresee any compelling Chicago stories that must be discussed. I'm sure there will be a few but it's going to be slim pickins for a while.

There's just no pleasing you is there? Don't worry, you'll make someone a good wife some day.

At my age, any regularity is an accomplishment. Whether it's posting or well, you know....

I think the problem is that they're just a straight forward, "vanilla" type show. Which worked fine in the slot they were in- 2 hours, mid-morning. Almost kind of a transition type show. Now that they're featured and have to extend to 4 hours their weaknesses are exposed.

I find myself listening to Mike and Mike more than I should now. Mully and Hanelly have no edge or anything to them at all really. Dont care for them at all.

They're just....there. It seems like they don't even try 'cause they're the only local sports show in the morning. But what is actually scary is that they really are trying but just suck. Also...I'm no wordsmith. But it's very odd to hear two writers completely butcher the english language every morning...

I dont understand how people dont like this show. There is no glitz and glamour like
the idiot North "tried" to bring and that is a good thing. They talk sports and have
fun along the way. I feel they are knowledgable with whatever they are talking
about. What else do you need?

The problem is Mulligan is a mediocre writer with the personality of a dry mop and Hanley is only slightly more exciting

Thank you for stating all the reasons why I think the M&H Show is just fine.

A show isn't good just because it's not the Mike North Morning Show.

It's still very flawed...

I am always surprised when I hear people go off on M&H. People talk about them butchering the language. Compared to what, Masterpiece Theater? They are far and away the most intelligent sports talk show in Chicago. Sure Bernstein is intelligent but he hates the audience and the average IQ of that team is brought way down by Boers. Nobody else in local sports has any grey matter...they're idiots.

As for being bored, what is it you want? Perhaps you're bored by local sports and there is good reason to be at this time of relative doldrums. If you want to listen to a sports show in the morning they are very good at bringing information and kicking it around with humor and intelligence. I will say this, it is the only show I listen to where I actually learn something with regularity. Between their knowledge and the way they interview guests I actually learn stuff, imagine that.

I do think they should engage the audience more. It seems to me they respect their audience as much as anyone but they, too, are caught up in the radio industry way of handling callers. I'm always amazed at how, in sports talk, the audience is allowed to make a statement and then there is no interaction. I know it has to be monitored so some jag doesn't have the air for 10 minutes but it could be done better. B&B allow for some interaction but only to tear callers a new one.

This same thread seems to pop up every few months and the same people say the same things, including myself. Now that is boring.

I like your work in the Times, Mr. Mulligan. I just don't care for your show very much. Please don't take it personally. I'm sure they are throwing a few sawbucks your way...

So Krazy Ivan is Mac is spmack...now I've got it. I wish I was Mully, I'm sure he's making a lot more sawbucks than me. Good memory though.

If you wanted Mike Mulligan & Brian Hanley to become Howard Stern, Mancow, Jonathon Brandmeier or other guys not afraid to push the envelope in good taste, forget it. That's not who they are, fans, and the 2 Sun-Times sportswriters will be the first to admit that. I happen to like these guys bringing us intelligent, genuine Chicago sports talk on the morning drive without the shock.
