Fans, breaking news from awfulannouncing.com & USA Today. In the wake of his DUI arrest last week in Scottsdale, AZ, Turner/TNT Sports has announced that Charles Barkley has taken a leave of absence from his studio work on the network's popular Thursday night NBA doubleheader, which resumes next Thursday night with our Bulls hosting the Cavaliers at United Center tipping things off at 7p. Barkley was arrested last week after Scottsdale Police found Barkley with a blood alcohol content of .149 following his arrest on New Year's Eve. A level of .150 is considered "extreme" inebriation, said police Lt. Eric Shuhandler. Arizona's legal limit is .08. TNT Sports President David Levy has released a statement, claiming that Sir Charles has hired an attorney, "apologetic for the events that transpired and it was obvious he understands the significance of the situation". The full statement can be found at www.awfulannouncing.com.

There is absolutely no reason to watch TNT's studio show now. Charles is the show....

If Barkley worked the TNT studio show Thursday night, you know host Ernie Johnson, Jr. & Barkley's teammate Kenny Smith would have brought up the DUI subject to him...I think it's a slippery slope and a dicey subject, at least at this time.

The outstanding sports media Web site awfulannouncing.com reports that Turner/TNT Sports has temporarily replaced Charles Barkley in its Atlanta studio tonight with Mike Fratello. The guy Marv Albert calls the "Czar of the Telestrator" joins Ernie Johnson, Jr., Kenny Smith & Chris Webber tonight to help analyze the Cavaliers/Bulls' & Suns/Nuggets' doubleheader on TNT, followed immediately by "Inside the NBA". I don't know if he got it when he coached the Grizzlies, but doesn't Fratello look like Donald Trump with the bad hairpiece?  Just a thought...
