they'd have to put the local stations out of business first...that's the Comcast way...

You can't just "start" a station. They would need to buy an existing or a BK station with a transmitter license. There might be some regulatory burdens to overcome too. I believe there are some laws or regs that impose limits on the extent of electronic media ownership. You might actually have a better information on this than I.

That's a good question. Obviously there were/are limits on broadcast outlets and newspapers, but I don't recall if that was upgraded to include cable-based media. There may be less hoops than you think.

That's what this town needs: a third sports radio station. The talent isn't diluted enough already.

It really is amazing how "sports talk" dominates every city. It's the cheapest and easiest programming I think. There is always a game to talk about. There is always an athlete getting arrested.

Hell, at nights and on weekends we sometimes have 3 stations doing sports talk. WGN, WMVP & WSCR.

I agree with Mac, but if some Station would do something LOCAL at night, overnights and on weekends, I'd be more likely to listen instead of the cheap mostly crap that both stations are running now. My CD's are getting worn out late at nights,on Saturdays and Sundays. That said,I know that won't happen until the economy gets better.

Grobber- When have management types ever done anything logical that the listeners would like?

Obviously has nothing to do with the economy, Score's been non-local overnight for several years. Not so much the overnight slot, but I think its a mistake to let the evening slots the short shrift that they do. Not the economy, the lack of vision.

We already seen the deluded/diluted talent; bring back Les!

And am1000 is nearly network all weekend. ill take rosillo(sic), coleman, kiper any day over coppuck, leweine any day.

where is am1000's talent to field servicable programming on the weekend? They tried les, Tommy Williams even tired and shriveled Lou Can't Tell Us...to no avail.
