When I saw Mac's column and he mentioned 'North walking away from $750k', I said to my self "Self! That aint right"

North himself and many other media members phrase it this way as well.

North did not walk away from $750K. This makes him sound like some guy with ethics and principles, which he is light years from. As if he left over other issues that may have been more important to him, as he claims? Mike North did not believe they would let him leave the station and thus was escorted from the studios before his contract was up. That is exactly how he said it. So he never walked away, he was tossed.

North thought he had 1 week left and during that week he could negotiate out a new deal, that could get more money and never believed they would let him leave.

Fact is the deal was pulled from the table and he was kicked out in the end.

For now one i would like to see:

"Mike North refused the $750,000 offer from WSCR and was then removed from the premises." This is much more accurate than the portrayal of his "Walked away" story, as if anyone in their right mind these days would take $750K as an insult, because at one time they made $1.5M.

or maybe better "He lost the biggest bet he ever made, by thinking they would never let him out the door and he was wrong on that call"

north is on his last stand. their are still enough suckers from the good ole days that are willing to give north some advertising $$, however with the economy melting down, those ad $$ will dry up fast. then pappy will put some spin that he didn't get enough support, etc.

I like the "he lost a bet" analogy, because it is correct. He didnt want to go anywhere, but thought he knew better.

I see this partnership between him and COMCAST melting down quicker than many expect over financial issues. I am sure a long contract exists trying to dictate who pays for what, but as anyone in business can tell you, certain expenses arise and things happen that you just didn't anticipate. This will be the blowup.
