Did any of you watch the series OZ when it originally ran on HBO? I'm currently up to Season 4 of the DVDs. I've enjoyed it so far - there are a lot of compelling characters, but it's pretty brutal at times and kinda scares the crap out of me. I'm too man-pretty to go to prison... :pale: :shaking:

Yeah, Alvarez is one of my favorite characters, too. I also like:

Beecher
Ryan O'Reilly
Keller (just found out more about what he did on the outside towards the end of Season 3)
Warden Glenn

Even though he's not a criminal like the others, one of my least favorite characters is McManus. He always has that annoying look on his face...

It was must see TV for me when it was first on. I thought it jumped the shark a little towards the end -- around the time when they are trying out that new drug. Still, an A+ series with some great actors and great acting.

Office Claire Howell frightens my penis and makes it crawl up into my body cavity every time she's on screen. Her role in storylines has become tedious. Find inmates willing to have sex with to keep her from harassing them. They get tired of it and say they want to stop, she beats them and says they attacked her.

William Giles (the crazy old inmate) irritates the hell out of me. I wind up fast forwarding through all of his scenes.

The thing that eventually turns me off to most serial dramas after a couple seasons is that the same horribly tragic things keep happening to the same people. I understand they can't keep introducing new characters for these things to happen to, but it starts to get ridiculous and I begin to lose interest. I just finished season four and I might just read a synopsis of what happened in five and six to see which episodes I want to watch.

Do not do that season six you need to watch all of it to get everything and wrap up stuff as little things happen all through thseason.

I agree. I actually didn't like the finale because it felt anti-climatic.

Seems to be a trend with HBO they always drop the ball on the finale

totally with MOFO. one of the best finales of a TV series ever. great finish.

very hard for me. nate was my guy. had a lot in common with his character.

the sequence of him running and disappearing in claire's rearviewmirror in the finale is...--uh...uh, excuse me..hmph...<whimper>

I agree. The ending of six feet under was the very reason I came back to that show. With the Billy stuff, I actually walked away from the show for almost a season. I just cou;dn't deal with the irrational behavior.

Oz was a little too penis flappy for me.

It definitely is that, and it's also too anal rapey.

I finished Season 5 and it was much better than I anticipated as Season 4 drew to a close. I liked angry Said and the other characters and storylines they introduced kept my attention. It seemed like the preview for Season 6 gave too much away, but maybe there are more surprises ahead.

The attorney who's helping Beecher is pretty attractive but I keep forgetting to look for her name in the credits.

Sandra Purpuro - She's played some bit parts here and there on CSI and other shows. and yes, she's pretty good looking.

Just finished all six seasons over the past month. I liked it overall but by the last two seasons it was getting ridiculous. Actually it was probably ridiculous the whole time. There is no way a warden survives with people being murdered in his prison just about every episode. Also, I could not get over how there were no cameras in the prison despite being based in real time.

Way too much wang.

Referring to Edward Said, Said said Said's said theories were ridiculous and divisive.

Been rewatching it also. I’m like middle of season 5 currently. Agreed, my biggest takeaway from the whole thing has been just how ridiculous the “plot” was. Another example is that hot doctor falling in love with O’reilly after he has her husband murdered. The old person drug plot line. Alvarez murdering half the prison but still getting let out of solitary every other episode.

Still entertaining but just ridiculous plotting

Ok . . . I guess I can make the tradeoff, as long as I don't have to do nothing else.

Well, if you watch the whole thing, you eventually have to deal with Luke Perry in it.
