Jen. For the love of something, anything, take some gosh darn on camera class/coaching. There is not one thing you do that looks appealing, attractive, or anywhere near the ballpark of what would be considered professional. MAJOR makeover is needed... hair, makeup, clothes, use of voice, posture... You're not fugly, but you look about as comfortable as a constipated fat old man with severe arthritis in his every joint trying to come down the stairs from the last row in the upper tank at Comiskey.

Mike. Take the same class/coaching as Jen. There are outstanding private firms and coaches in this city who can fix the two of youse. Find a good dentist who does veneers. Start getting your haircuts at a barber shop and don't tell the barber how to cut. See a doctor to get your ADD treated. Hire a couple producers who would script every minute of every show and stick to the script. Learn how to maintain an eye contact with camera. Few things grate the viewership worse than an impression that the guy on TV is lying, induced by your tendency to escape the eye contact with camera. Get rid of fake cackle.

Jiggs. Your name is on the show title, my friend. Participate!

Misc. Radio mics make no sense. They do TV shows from the same place and don't use them. I realize this is either a crutch or a fake prop. Bad. Get rid of it. At least two shows a week must be done from remote locations. Here are some ideas: commuter stations, major office building lobbies, Wrigley/Bridgeport on opening days. 18-year old tshirts can stay.

I highly doubt it is Jiggs' decision on how much he contributes.

Great comment on "fake cackle". As I read it, I could hear him doing it as I have too many times. It is soooo F'n annoying.

As for the remotes...great idea. I think on Thursday morning, when it is 10-below, he should go back out to the streets and offer to wash windshields again.

Fuck North!

I thought I heard Jen reading sports updates this morning. If so, she should never be allowed to read them again. Awful! Monotone voice and choppy delivery. All anchors are reading off the TelePrompTer, cards, or something. But the good ones sound smooth so it sounds like they aren't reading straight from a script. Jen should look into this.

Jen's Zed 451 reads were the greatest thing on the Score in the past 5 years - an awesome combination of stilted, awkward, and breathy which accentuated the creepiness of the text she was reading.

I'm ticked I haven't flipped it on yet when Jen was reading. I'm hypnotized by her tone.

I'm not saying my position is rational. I'm just saying that I love to hear her read.

Don't Fade Me .com; can't beat it [hair flip]...

Look - - I just did a legit "I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'"

I'm pretty certain that Pappy has her under an exclusive contract.

I didn't think it was as bad as you guys are letting on.

It's not the most professionally produced or looking show, but c'mon - they're on Day Two.

The sit-in with Butkus was special. Lots of little comments from Butkus, my favorite "I hope you'll give me a ticket or something so I don't have to pay for parking". He also looked like he was freezing his ass off. Even with all the insulation on Jiggs, he was wearing layers also. Yet there was Pappy in his 'affliction' t-shirt - no wonder why he seemed so wide awake - he was freezing his ass off.

I also liked when he tried to 'just throw an idea' out there... regarding drunk driver pictures of celebs - and then magically they pop up. WTF was that all about? Mike is doing stuff that's been done for a half dozen years on the web already.

The show is what we thought it would be. Painful to watch, and mildly entertaining - primarily for it's train-wreck-ed-ness nature.

They need to get Mike out of the studio during the day to do taped bits from across the city. It would not even have to be original stuff. He could rehash the favorite hot dog stands.

Here is an idea that may or may not work, a Chicago athlete of the day/week. Find someone who grew up here and let him take the viewer through the old neighborhood. I bet you could find some really interesting stuff. It would not even have to be the big names. Start with a guy like that old coach of the Bills. Zorich can show us around his old haunts. Even more compelling might be someone who grew up destitute and seeing what life was like for them. It would be a mix of getting to know chicago neighborhoods, atheletes and history.

Or how about sports celebrity cribs.

Or how about sports from a different perspective. Have a five minute piece with the guy who runs the Zamboni, or the Bears PA announcer who says "there's a timeout", or the guy who works in the Wrigley Field scoreboard, or the guy who shoots the fireworks at Comiskey, or, or, or offer me a competitive income and I'll produce this show for you.

But this is stuff that should have been in production for the past 6 months. They should have a months worth of tape in the can already.

I caught the show this morning between 6:30 - 7:00. I was disappointed because it wasn't even fun bad, it was just...blah. Jen must have relaxed a little, because her reads didn't sound as bad as they were described yesterday; not saying they were great, but no major stumbles. She does look like a deer in the headlights though. Mike looks ridiculous in the Affliction shirt. Dan stands out as a real pro, and for this reason, I can't see Mike pushing him out before the show goes down on it's own. Mike seems distracted by his ear piece. Whatever Mike is doing with the girls of the morning show or whatever he calls them is dated and creepy coming from him. I can't imagine 3 hours of this.

I tuned in for about 25 minutes this morning as I was eating breakfast and getting ready for work. A lot of my comments echo what has already been said, but here they are:

Mike: Whoever said he has a creepy jack-o-lantern smile was right on the money. The affliction t-shirts and Luke Perry 90210 sideburns look ridiculous. Truthfully, he'd look bad no matter what he wore because he's not an attractive person, but at least dress appropriately for your age. Appropriate dress, however, would not conceal the main problem which is that he's an astonishingly ignorant man.

Jiggs: I've never liked his forced catchphrases "Take it Easy!" or his equally forced Dr. Hibbert-like chuckling and laughing. Like Offman, he seems to think it's somehow endearing to talk and laugh at the same time. It's not. I've always found him unlistenable and nothing has changed.

Jen: Everything everyone has said is correct. I've never seen her on TV before, and her press photos are indeed flattering compared to how she looks on TV. Facially, she looks almost exactly like a guy I went to grammar school with -- not how he looks now, but how he looked then. When she was doing a sports update this morning her delivery and tone was such that even within the same highlight, it was as if the sentence she was currently reading was unrelated to the one she had previously read. It don't know if that makes sense, but I can't think of any other way to explain it right now.

Having the pretty brunette coming in every 10 minutes to hand Mike a piece of paper is just silly. If there's anything written on there besides a note from BeBe telling Mike how great the show is going or a note from Jen saying "I like you. Do you like me? Check Yes or No." I'd be shocked.

They took one call from a EP Ed from Edison Park. Ed started off by telling us that "EP" stood for Edison Park, and then began talking about his grammar school football playing days. Mike chimed in with little story from his grammar school football playing days. Fascinating stuff.

In short, it's an uninteresting show hosted by unlikeable people.

The only reason I'd tune in again is if Mike goes into full meltdown mode like he did last summer before the Score kicked him out the door.

If I went to Notre Dame HS or had a son that went there, I would be ashamed at their affiliation with this glorified derelict.

That would cost production money, coming directly out of Mike's pocket.

I echo your ideas Dolphin. Some pre-recorded segments would definitely break up the monotony. I think they're just trying to imitate the "Mike & Mike" show with the studio mics. Another thing is they really should air this at 9am, after "Mike & Mike". There's no point in going head-to-head with them. The USFL trying to take on the NFL didn't work so good, did it? Get rid of the sports updates with Jen. She could still do traffic & weather. Have Jiggs cover what happened in sports the previous night.

Another thing they might want to consider is having live studio audience ala "The Ditka Show". I know this could turn into a meatball fest, but at least it would be a little more exciting. You could have Jen in the audience taking questions for Mike & Dan or whatever guest they have. Bring back some of the goofy segs like "Caning & Jag Bag.

IDK....just some ideas, & not necessarily good ones  .

I'd love to see the special kind of meatball that is getting up at 4am to go watch that show live on a Tuesday morning.

I only caught the first half hour. You guys nailed it.

Going along with Good Dolphin's theme, they should do a "Pappy night on the town". It sucked when he would talk about going to bars on the radio but if they brought a camera into a bar it might be fun. Have Pappy, Jen and a couple of regular ass holes discuss a sports issue. Maybe the guys can be hitting on Jen. Maybe you can get a good looking waitress. Some eye candy for the viewers. Edit it and show that. They have to break up 3 hours of Dan and Mike live on TV. It just looks uncomfortable to the viewer.

Then again, a lot of people are like me. Nobody can watch all 3 hours. Still, do some taped stuff on remote like Dolphin said.

You're right, Mac, but we're not your average Chicago morning viewer. We have to watch it so we can make fun of it. People expect it from us. It's our job. Plus it's new so you gotta see what the hell it is.

Yeah Mac, people are watching like people slow down to watch a car accident...you know its bad but you can't help but to look.

I think once the "newness" wears off, North's latest venture will also fade into Bolivian...

I'm always thinking for North. I've got a good idea.

Go to Gibsons, put Jen in a waitress outfit and act out the day that they met.

Go to a radio studio and act out the day North got rid of Jiggs. Boers and Mac can come in for this shot too.

That would be fun.

Of the 6 hours they've been on, I've only been able to handle about 20 total minutes. That's a meaningful statistic, people who tuned in and turned right back out. And probably won't bother tuning in ever again, like me.
Mac when listening to MJH or S&W, I peg about 45 or better minutes at a shot. What's your average listen time per listener? I bet you're tripling or better his time.

I don't think so, spmack. You people could not get enough of what North was doing towards the end at the score and when he was unemployed.

I recorded it today and will watch it later.
