Lickage? If rooting for a guy you like to do okay in a new job is lickage, I plead guilty. Many of you wrote North was humbled for many years after he and Jiggetts split. Mike's reunion with Dan is, in many ways, an admission of a mistake. I make no apologies for liking his show with Jiggetts when we were all at the Score.

Would I do Monsters In The Morning? If I had the occasion to be downtown the night before and stay downtown, yes. If invited, I would do the show.

Would I do a TV project with Boers? Sure. Why wouldn't I? If something presented itself, I'd consider it. I like Terry and I think we were good together. Some others agreed.

The year is off to an interesting start. Lots of fire on the board. 'Bout time.

Mac, I don't really care about North, nor North and your relationship. What I've always wondered is why as the local star of the Mouse's locally O&O station, you've never gotten a shot to hit the ESPN tv shows like other markets' talent has.

You asked me once why I bothered to read Mariotti (1994-WYC). OK, turnabout being fair play why did you bite you tongue when that clown became the ESPN local talking head for the network?

Monsters was great radio back in the 90s. But some people got to realize it's 2009.

They need you more than you need them. If I were you, I'd charge big time $$$$ for a guest appearance.

Terry is a bitter old man now.

Mariotti already had a relationship with ESPN when he was on with Silvy between 9 and noon. And I didn't aspire to be a Chicago correspondent. They never approached me about it and I never thought twice about it. If asked, I likely would contribute to television or ESPN The Magazine or ESPN.com. I had a cursory discussion about hosting some college football scoreboard shows on the radio network this past fall, but I didn't want to be all over the country all season and for nominal money. I'm not bothered that I haven't been asked to do much more. I'm busy. A full-time job, two part-time jobs, three kids, a wife, friends and hobbies.

Who cares what the great blowhard thinks? You and North are two of a kind, except he hustles and you're lazy. You live in fantasyland if you think you're crap has any national appeal, hell, it doesn't even have a local impact.

Go back to the MJH section, I mean the ALS of MJH.

You will be here soon enough.

Your lame assaults on Mac are spineless. How easy it is to throw shit out on a message board?

Who the fuck are you 'Score is Doomed'? Why don't you come to a remote and give your coward attacks to Mac directly. He's man enough to hear your critiques face to face . . . and kill you with a smile.

About score_is_doomed : I think he mentioned that he use to work at WSCR in the past. So maybe he's got an axe to grind.

I like mac on the radio but don't get after Score_is_doomed because he went after the allmighty radio show host. How dare he go after him and not kiss his ass. :? :? If we have to kiss everyone's ass here who is on radio, it goes against everything this forum is about.

Agreed. It kind of like writing a newspaper article or trashing people on your own radio show. Spineless...

Hmmmmm.. lets go back to Mac and see if he has composed himself and come up with the real answer hmmm.... Mac you there......hmmmm. ...let put him on hollllllld........soookie

No really Mac, I don't get it, you rail on us for watching with a passion a person who has made an ass of himself go down in a ball of flames. You make a habit of seeming like you may be above the fray in watching this, of course that is my opinion, and it may be shared by others here. I think you are secretly right there with us, I also am tired of reading about how you have no ill will towards the man. Whether we will ever know every nuance of the goings on at WSCR when the great lineup shift happened may never be known. I think enough of us have a vague enough of an idea how it shook out and can form an educated opinion. Going from what I know, it is safe to say if I were the one that felt slighted i.e. having a new partner that was a complete oppiste of what I was about, I might just harbor ill will towards the ass clown that made that happen. Mac, I'm not asking you to come out and lamblast the guy, I just want you to keep it real man, and from what I gather, keeping it real might mean not sharing the warm and fuzzy thoughts that you have been dropping on us lately. Remember the saying KEEPING IT REAL :thumright:

Mac never really fully recovered his free spirit after going toe-to-toe with radio boss Harvey Wells and losing. (Harvey Wells = Anne Maxfields husband & Norths pal)

Ya I think Mac grew up after that and got smart. That incident helped him mature as a professional IMO. I don't know Mac, but I KNOW like WE ALL KNOW that he once hated North. I know now he won't admit that, because like I said, he got smart, and he won't be bashing anyone in radio because he knows maybe one day down the road, he may need something from them. Unlike Mr.North who will burn every bridge he can due to his out of control ego.

I agree with that opinion, and have seen it up until recently. I think the newspaper article, the response here to the sophomoric humor posted by Rodeovann (RV, keep up the great work, I am a big fan) and others proves maybe he just quit being smart about this. Being smart is keeping your mouth shut, and just enjoy the interesting times about to unfold for a former colleague who may or may not have screwed you to further their career. Being smart is privately chuckling to yourself when you see the aforementioned ass clown just look stupid.

Of course all opinions expressed here are my own, and Mac in his infinite wisdom could chose to agree or disagree. Personally I don't care either way, but please Mac spare us the warm and fuzzy feelings that are an assualt on us just plain knowing better. Thanks buddy. :D

I hated North's business decisions, not the man. It was a tremendous victory for me and for all of us when we drubbed him in afternoon drive. I wasn't bashful about that. It was sweet vindication. And then he went to mornings and I was on to another challenge. Ten years ago, I was more hostile than I am today. Maybe I've matured and gaining some perspective. Maybe that as a lot to do with leaving the Darryl Strawberry era behind and accepting the fact I have an autistic son, for whom I likely must provide for the rest of his life. Hatred I now reserve for people who commit violent crimes and deadbeat dads.

Hate is such a strong word and must be used in the right context. I appreciate the thought here Mac. I don't know if you dislike the man, I have a hunch you may have reasons to. Maybe you see my point, maybe you are sitting there pontificating to yourself "this uncle fester is a complete moron." I don't know, what I do know, is you have taken a "I'm better than you gents, I want North & Jigs to succeed" attitude. Good for you, don't chastise us for not having the same feelings. North has done enough to garner enough of the negative feelings from this board. There is a guy who really isn't KEEPING IT REAL, and it is really obvious to most of us.
On a side note, just curious Mac, you going down to Gibson and seeing if you can recruit your next Executive producer from the waitstaff, and then going to carry on with him or her like a weird uncle?

Thanks Buddy :thumright:

Would love an explanation on how my rooting for N&J connotes an "I'm better than you guys" attitude. 'Splain that one to me, UF. I couldn't care less who you root for and I don't care what anybody thinks about those for whom I root.

This has been going on for quite some time in many different realms and they have all failed, but yet some media genius always feels they have the answer and North is it?

Mike doesn't prepare for anything and that is perfect for Mike because his strongest point is making off the cuff comments. You can't be in charge of anything and not prepare, because when you don't prepare you spend all your time putting out fires and working on other items and not whatever it is that you do best?

When this TV experiment is over, I see someone offering Mike a normal radio job, for maybe $75K a year and he will be on with another person and it will not be "THE MIKE NORTH SHOW", with Mike in Charge of everything and North will rise again, because he will be back doing what he does best. Ridiculous crazy comments offset by someone with common sense and intelligence.

And the circle will be complete.

I've never understood why people would root for someone to fail unless they have some sort of personal animosity towards them (I'm guessing that might be the case for some posters). While I get a kick out of RV, UF, Mr. Belvidere, Oogie & Beardown's North bashing & criticism, I don't understand why they would root for him to fail. Some of the downright mean-spirited rhetoric that is spewed here just gets old. There are a lot of kinks to work out on The Monster's show, no doubt. Some people here are going to think what they think without even reserving judgement.

Let it go, Mac. Seriously, the sport of competitive urination on the board should be beneath you. Staying out of it will not make you less approachable or "real." I never met you but based on what people say you are real enough to hang out with the unwashed commoners at the remotes. I appreciate the tidbit on Butkus, though. Let's stay on the subject. I started the thread to accumulate constructive feedback knowing well that North's braintrust reads this thing. My bashing was limited to the things they should to make their venture more palatable.

Mac was, is and will always be a vindictive person. Something is always wrong, it's always the other person's fault. Stomping your feet, gritting your teeth, shouting and having a temper tantrum. What a way to communicate and influence people.

You got fired because you deserved it; this act is so old and tired. You can't re-invent the wheel, it goes on without you. You aren't more mature or mellow, it's the same vitriol just better medicated.

Mac can never and will never leap past North; that idiot has a horse shoe inserted up his azz and it frosts Mac's ass everytime he realizes he's small time to a hot dog salesman. Come to think of it, that's a horrible legacy! But I guess God works in direct ways reminding Mac that he is a small man in a large town.

Vaya con Diablo!

Mac, you know whats cool about these message boards, unlike the airwaves, when you make a statement, it is there until someone decides to remove it.

So quit commenting on our "hatrid" for the man. http://score670.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=21593

Don't worry about it anymore Mac, if you really don't like don't comment on it. Follow these sage words written by someone close to you.

I don't think some of those people root for Mike to fail as much as they point and laugh, Jeff. If he were doing good things on the show some would say it. I haven't listened to North as much as everybody else has but I found his radio show the last few years okay.

Wearing an affliction shirt, not preparing, ogling girls that work for you that are half your age, and letting your cell phone go off in the middle of the show is bad. He should be ripped for it. He brings it on himself.

And Macky; you're a bigger guy than North is. You might be brash, you might get crude; but with your statement above you prove one thing:

You're a classy guy who knows what's actually important in this world. Don't let this board (or any feedback) change how you approach your career and your biz. Don't worry about what we think you think about North. You know him when the microphones are off; we know the personalities the two of you put "out there" for the world to see.

But, in the end; North deserves the ridicule he gets for the constant bickering he has with fans. His "holier than thou" attitude is a terrible way to build a fanbase; and the second you take a fanbase for granted?

They're like sharks. They'll turn on you and rip you to pieces; much like how Chicago listeners turned on Northy.

Spaulding-
I agree with you about the affliction shirt, not preparing & so on. It just seems like some people are out to get him. RV has explained his reasons to me, but what's in it for everyone else? Self gratification? Feeling like they've defeated him? Maybe I just look at things too much as "the glass half full".

I think things could get really interesting if Mike or Jen would respond to posts on the board.
And people please.....no Jen or Mike trolls. :x

Great comments Spalding.

Mac, I used the term "lickage" because to me it seems as though you have been a little extra "pro-Northy". From your article in the Sun Times, to your recent posts on the board about all the views & posters commenting on North. You can root for him all you want, but call his recent career decisions and products that he has put out what they are. A Train Wreck! Now if you factor in his attitude, you may find why many of us are rooting for his failure and enjoying watching the trainwreck.

Lick..or root away...I don't really care. Now if you want to talk about the quality this guy has put out from webio to dont F me.com...to now this joke of a tv show....Feel free to defend or root for that all you want.

Wow! It's very easy to be jealous about someone(whomever)that like them or not, is successful. Pappy and Jiggs have their names on the logs of CSN from 6-9am and I for one(like Mac)am pulling for them to succeed. I'm not currently hosting anywhere-so I can be objective on this. I am a big MJH Fan as well. Now, do I happen to like all five guys on the two mentioned Programs? Yes. But it would be easy for someone in my position to be jealous of them. I'm not! I am a Fan. Many of you who like to rip do so for legit reasons, but many also do it for what appears to be vindictive reasons of which I hve no real idea. I respect those guys who are good enough to be on. Those who don't like said programs, can always flick the switch. I do when certain things I can't stand on both 670 and 1000(like almost all National junk)come on.

That said, as I always have said on and off the air: "I may not agree with you,but I'll fight to the death for you're right to SAY it".

As a "consumer" of ________, I realized long ago that I prefer ________ that is above average at the worst. If it sounds bad or looks bad...then it is bad as far as I am concerned.
Being a cynical prick, I will then make fun and complain or stop paying attention as it suits me. I expect (and deserve) a better product.

I dont think anyone here is jealous of north, for me its always been about a product that mike says is good, but at least over the 5 years have been proven failures. Just a bit of humility and some search for help in reinventing himself would have been good, but no, he continues to go down the road to nowhere, thats why people or least me continue to rip him.

Pappy ship has sailed and he is doing what people do, graspig at straws.
