Grobber, you know my spiel...you and Hoffman talking baseball on the Score, maybe nights, maybe mornings...anything would be better than Holmes and Hamp, especially when football is done.

I imagine this particular wisdom by Evelyn Beatrice Hall attributed to Voltaire (which is debatable) was there 19 years ago.

I think a lot of us here don't think North IS good enough to be on and we're just dumbfounded (Or jealous if you prefer; that's fine. As I've stated before, I don't object to that word. It's a normal human emotion in a situation like this.) that people in Chicago media keep finding a place for this idiot to display his lack of talent.

His radio ratings apparently didn't justify his salary, not to mention the expectations that he was going to be another Don Imus, and his post-Score ventures have been a complete joke. Most of us aren't insiders like Mac or Les and haven't had the "pleasure" of sharing a laugh or a beer with Mike or of being a colleague of his. If you guys like him and root for him, fine, but we're coming at this from an entirely different angle and why some people can't grasp that, I'll never know. We're not his friends, we're consumers or potential consumers of his products and this, after all, is a forum for us to vent about such things and his products suck.

On top of that, you add in his arrogance and his attitude and you have a guy just asking to be made fun of and we're glad to comply. How could ANYONE look at dontfademe.com, for just one example, and not regard Mike North as a complete and utter fool? He may as well have just walked down Michigan Ave. with a sign around his neck saying, "I'm a f***ing asshole. Ridicule me, please!"

Hatred is jealousy? Mike is a no talent fool. But I hate him because of his higher than all attitude. He doesnt prepare. He's offensive. His "image" is what the world sees as Chicago. He talks out his ass. He makes excuses. On and on and on. He is a total prick just like Gotti, Bernstien, Frank Thomas, David Stern. He actually brags about his charities. And he makes up a number (200). He ruined the station I loved. It has never been the sane since HE broke up the shows. Fucking Tom Shaer was more listenable than North.

When you put yourself up higher than the rest of us, you deserve every fucking critisism that comes your way. North is falling. Its so enjoyable to watch. And no. I do not watch his show other than day on for a few. Rodeo gets paid a lot of dough to do that for us.

Grobber and Mac should hate him more than I do. He dumbed down their proffession. They are pros. He's a clown. They prepeared. North would come in straight from the world tour and make the shit up as he went along.

Not jealous at all Grobber. I'm very happy with the life I've carved out for myself. I'm just calling it as I see it. A 54 year old man wearing an Affliction t-shirt, Luke Perry sideburns, a haircut that wouldnt look out of place on a Mongoloid, and bad teeth looks like a fool on tv. Throw in the fact that he begs for money better than the best WTTW employee, and doesn't know the meaning of the word humility, PLUS doesn't seem to prepare for his job, and I'm gonna call him on it. Trust me, if he miraculously turns this show around, and makes this abortion watchable, I'll give him all the credit that is deserved. I just don't see it happening, since I'm sure he thinks the show is great as is.

I am assuming that nobody here really hates North. As Mac so eloquently stated in his second to last post, lets save hatred for more worth people. I do dislike the man, but wish him no harm. Its not my show, but I'm on it. Whoops got off of subject there. :D I am assuming based off of my feelings for the man, it isn't jealousy we have here. It is, at least in my case, general amusement that I think most of us feel. I do wish his show a short life, I do wish Mike North the title of Hot Dog Queen of Chicago. I do wish Jen Patterson a better fate that awaits her hanging out with the eventual Hot Dog Queen of Chicago.

hooray!

I've been searching for the right words to describe Mac's second to last response and by Jurko, "eloquently" is apropos. He is such a stately figure to Northwest Indiana and the loutlying areas of Hicksville. Apropos, well played, old man!

Dahlai Lama on line 2!

Showing up unprepared and hungover is a hustler? Not using constructive ideas because he's too stubborn? Please explain. And WSCR makes people money. Why did all of his "guys" stay with the Score? They know where the MONEY is. Hell of a great signal they got there. Those same "guys" are making fun of North in their adds. See Marconi (sp).

Why is North a hustler? Help me out oh great Panther. Hasnt he paid for his last three gigs? (Dontfademe, Webio, Morning Show). Dows that mean I'm a hustler if I have money and pay for my outlets that fail. Just because he fooled a few fools in management and earned money doesnt make him a hustler. He's got balls I'll admit but he's no hustler. A hustler sits at home and prepares. Uses good ideas and takes advantage of his resources. North does none of these.

Hustler no. Has been? Thats more accurate. And thats coming from a "Non College Guy"

I think the early Mike North may be described as a "hustler." He ran his own successful business, then got into radio with no formal broadcast training. When he hit it big at the Score, though, I think he became pretty enamored of himself and stopped hustling, at least in terms of doing his job properly. He started thinking all he needed to do was have a microphone stuck in front of his face and any words that came out of his mouth were going to be hysterical and insightful and the world would want to listen, whether he was talking sports, politics, entertainment, etc. It became painfully obvious that not a lot of research or preparation went into his show and it's a very rare performer that can just wing it like that for four hours of big-time, big-city radio. Of all people, Mike just doesn't have the smarts or the quick wit to pull that off. The last few months, he's been suffering the consequences of his arrogance and his inflated opinion of himself. A hustler? Maybe at one time, but he got lazy and overconfident.

Maybe that as a lot to do with leaving the Darryl Strawberry era behind and accepting the fact I have an autistic son, for whom I likely must provide for the rest of his life. Hatred I now reserve for people who commit violent crimes and deadbeat dads.

And Macky; you're a bigger guy than North is. You might be brash, you might get crude; but with your statement above you prove one thing:

You're a classy guy who knows what's actually important in this world. Don't let this board (or any feedback) change how you approach your career and your biz. Don't worry about what we think you think about North. You know him when the microphones are off; we know the personalities the two of you put "out there" for the world to see.

But, in the end; North deserves the ridicule he gets for the constant bickering he has with fans. His "holier than thou" attitude is a terrible way to build a fanbase; and the second you take a fanbase for granted?

They're like sharks. They'll turn on you and rip you to pieces; much like how Chicago listeners turned on Northy.

See what you fail to realize,Frontman, by agreeing with anything Mac has said in his whole life and by not listening to B and B, you are now a MJH Ass Licker.

Actually, I can't stand Mac's broadcast partners most of the time; so no, I don't listen to them. And just because I happen to agree with Mac's point of view on this, it does not mean I follow his every word.

Matter of fact, I've been pretty critical of their show, as it could be a hell of a lot better than it is; if they stopped the Superfans/everything and everyone has a nickname routine.

We all loved the fact that a goof came on the air and asked players/coaches/owners "hey, why do you suck?". It's how North made his name.

Mike North took the regular guy slightly inebriated ( and I am going to say he was still buzzed a few times from the night before) comments to the people that have been spoken about for years. It was a fresh perspective and he offended many of the people he spoke to, but as fans we really didnt care. These confrontations/interviews were great. Then Jiggs was there to try and play the peacemaker. It worked for that reason. That was the recipe. Everyone that listened knew it. The only person who didnt listen is anyone who gave Mike North ultimate power to produce a show exactly how he wants it? It's a terrible idea and still, someone thinks they can do it. We mock it for that simple reason. Making North a part of a show that he has nothing to do with is a great idea. Giving him his own show has proven time and time again to be moronic.

Once again, major travesity (Harry served with him) that Les is not on at night.

Mr. Rosen! Put the boot straps on and get Les back on. The banning has been long enough.

Also take into fact that in the early 90s, the score was a breath of fresh air considering the shows before that, specifically chet coppock. Early Score finally gave the sports fans an outlet on radio which they had been asking for for years. And guys like Ron Gleason figured that out.

But now, North and to some extent, the Score, has become the Chet Coppock show of our time. North in particular is all guest oriented and doesn't take any phone calls from the fans, not as much as he did at the score with Jiggs. Hate or Love Coppock, but he had a talent to his craft, he prepared for his shows, and asked some intelligent questions. North does not have this quality.

I don't get Grobber. He can like North but he never explains why. I'm talking about him on the air. Not personally cuz he's nice to you or whatever. Grobber's reason was he likes him cuz he's on the air. Cuz he's on Comcast. Cuz he's local I suppose. That's not a reason.

Then Grobber says he hates the national garbage. That's fine. You can hate it. All of the national stuff is better than North in my opinion.

Local hosts can be bad, right Grobber? It is possible, isn't it? I mean it can go beyond jelousy. Somebody can just be bad.

I just don't know how anybody with a brain can like North as a talk show host. What do you like about him, on the air, Grobber?

This proves my point that Mac has matured. I think when he lost on WSCR and was looking for work, it was an experience he learned from. I know nobody gives a shit, but I use this ethic too in my professional career. For example, I use to have this boss who was the biggest pile of human feces on the face of the earth. He would physically intimidate people, chase them down the office halls, and treat everyone like a slave. But me, I was professional and was cool to him (at an extent) even though in my mind I always thought of ways he could miraculously die. Anyway, about 8 years later, I was working somewhere else, lost my job, and was looking for work trying to support 2 young children. I happened to apply to a silmiar position I had and ya, it was that motherfucker who was hiring. The hired me, and the reason, he came up to me and said he could have hired so many other people for this job, but he hired me because he felt I was the only one that respected him his whole working career. I was like yeah asshole, I respected you on the outside, but inside you're still a cocksucker. Anyway, the point I am making is I could have burnt bridges like Northy did, but I went the 'NEW MAC' route and it paid up when I desperately needed it. You never know who you're gonna run into in life.

OK....I KNOW....... ALL AT ONCE.............

WE'REEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAPPYYYYYYYYY FOOOOORRRR YYYYYYYYYOOOOOUUUUUUU! :)

Above and beyond all of the other bullshit that is North, he just doesn't know sports.

B&B used to play a sound bite of North where he said the Luol Deng was better than Lebron James. North used to say that Peyton Manning wasn't good. Right there. That's reason enough that he shouldn't have a sports show. How does shit like that enter somebody's brain. What the fuck is he watching? How can somebody be that stupid?

As soon as he said Deng was better than James a trap door should have opened in the Score studio where he slides into "Sports Stupid Land" and has to stay there forever. That should be a sports radio law. Nobody should be able to say that and have a show.

He also said that he didn't know if he wanted Lebron over Deron Williams..

But my all time favorite was when he said that Joakim Noah could be a Tayshaun Prince kind of player.

Mike wants to play the contrarian, but he just doesn't have the knowledge to pull it off. I don't really like Skip Bayless either, but his points seem to have some thought to them.
Mike really never has much substance to his points. "Noah needs to work on his shot." Mikey cannot deal with specifics, because he just doesn't know enough about sports to make a detailed point.

Exactly. North made a name for himself being a confrontationalist; however when it comes to knowing what he actually is talking about? He's proven time and again he's trading on his past success. What he needs to do is actually watch the people he talks about. He feels that just because he's talking, he's worth listening to. He also likes to cause trouble or a scene to get attention to himself; and that's where I feel he is a liability. I hope that neither baseball team in town give him the time of day (if he's still on the air when the season gets underway.) I don't like guys who put themselves into the story (as he did with the whole AJ/Ozzie/Buehrle situation two seasons ago.) Give me your opinion, give me why your opinion is worth hearing; but don't make yourself a part of the story.

I'm not usually one to defend North, but I think it's overstating it a bit to say he doesn't know sports. Any sports talk host who actually offers an opinion has made numerous predictions or statements which look ridiculous in hindsight. That's the beauty of sports talk in general.

I don't usually like to pile-on, but didn't he also have a long-running thing about Jim Harbaugh being better than Troy Aikman?

He also was a card-carrying member of the Dick Jauron ALS.

On the plus-side though, I was one of the few that liked it when he asked Pat Riley if he would shave his head to beat the Bulls.
