Who cares what the great blowhard thinks? You and North are two of a kind, except he hustles and you're lazy. You live in fantasyland if you think you're crap has any national appeal, hell, it doesn't even have a local impact.

Go back to the MJH section, I mean the ALS of MJH.

You will be here soon enough.

Welcome to the graveyard Mac.

Shit man, are you really happy somebody lost their job? I know you don't like his show and all but even so he's a good guy and deserved a hell of a lot better treatment to end his tenure at that station after everything he did to build it up. Even if you don't like him I think you should at least respect what he's accomplished there.

He doesn't deserve anything special. The last few years he has become lazy and the show suffered. He deserves the blame for what happened.

With his comments like "I wouldn't get out of bed for $350K," "North taking $750K would have made him the second-highest paid sports talker in Chicago," and "Hmmm, should I go to the Bulls game tonight or buy that new boat," I'm not exactly going to shed any tears for him. A little humility, a little less need to brag about what he has, and a little less of the almost pathological desire to force confrontation after confrontation with colleagues, competitors, and employers over what was usually some pretty trivial stuff would have gone a long way towards making me feel sorry for him right now. Besides, he doesn't need my sympathy.

Actually, I was once a pretty big fan, partly because he was in competition with North for a time, but I drifted away more and more after he got a little too full of himself and the suspensions were happening a lot. He became a tiresome bore. He's not in North territory yet, but he's been travelling pretty close to the border-crossing checkpoints.

One other thing that seems to have been forgotten: Didn't Mac build up a lot of those monster ratings that got him the big money when the Score was throwing that Rick Telander fiasco of a show up against him?

Mariotti already had a relationship with ESPN when he was on with Silvy between 9 and noon. And I didn't aspire to be a Chicago correspondent. They never approached me about it and I never thought twice about it. If asked, I likely would contribute to television or ESPN The Magazine or ESPN.com. I had a cursory discussion about hosting some college football scoreboard shows on the radio network this past fall, but I didn't want to be all over the country all season and for nominal money. I'm not bothered that I haven't been asked to do much more. I'm busy. A full-time job, two part-time jobs, three kids, a wife, friends and hobbies.

Pride cometh before the fall.

why would anyone have to travel all over the country to host a RADIO scoreboard show? It looks like ESPN didn't see him as a star employee.

North's probably jealous that when Mac got canned, ppl are up in arms. When North got canned, everyone was for it.

Mac wasn't considered National potential enough for ESPN. That's how they judge talent. If they can somehow be used on a national basis. If they think you're not, then you're no different than some 2 bit ham radio show host in the middle of nowhere.
