You may be on to something, especially since this morning Mike asked Annie if she would ever get a clit ring.

For last few months we have been hearing Mike ripping on the management for a variety of transgressions. Anything from failing to set up a remote on the Cub opening day to their reluctance to fork up some cash for expressway billboards.

From very little Stern listening that I did here and there a few years back it seemed like he was in the state of perpetual conflict with the management. We all know that Mike is trying to fill the gap left in the Chicago radio landscape after Stern left for land based radio. Now, considering the recent trend in Mitch's actions to get press by all means possible even if it involves uncomfortable radio and timeless quotes like "face to face over the phone", is it safe to assume that this whole billboard and North vs Agase standoff is staged to make Pappy look like the second coming of Stern?

I think it's a gimmick done by a lot of the morning hosts to say they're against managment......Stern and Mancow constantly do it.....guess they feel that if they convince their listeners they're against management, then their motiviation is for the listeneres ?????

Don't you need a clit to be able to get a clit ring? Maybe TrAnny can get her sack pierced though.

North needs a scandal to draw him into the spotlight. Where has Bebe been? Wasn't she on regulaly during his afternoon run?

Here is a list of suggestions:

Get in a plane crash.

Have the housesitter burn down Pappyland.

Somebody get Rock pregnant.

Run for state office.

Hit a pedestrian.

Write a bad check.

Plastic surgery giveaway.

Do something asinine like David Blaine does.

In closing, when was Pappy's last remote in Chicago? Seems he has to leave town to broadcast outside the studio...(now that's undeniable)

Well Said ...Facto

Especially not giving credit for such a complicated management v Mike controversy.

How can Mike North hate Management. They have no spine when dealing with him and ...oh yeah...THEY GAVE HIM $1.7 M a year for 5 years!

I truly don't think anyone cares what the jerkoff thinks about his bosses or anything else. Good grief, his ratings continue to tank and he thinks anyone cares what he thinks? He is scrambling to try to find something to draw attention to his shitfest and nothing is working.

North needs something to catapult him out of the local sportstalk radio gig. He seems like he'd be interesting in other roles, TV, etc., but none really seem to really catch on. I sort of liken it to having a developmental contract.

Ultimately, this _is_ someone you'd use on color for the Sox radio, or to put Rover out of our misery, but it's like he needs that little "umph" to get over with the common listener/viewer.

Until then, ... undeniably something. No reason to say what :-)

Please realize North has no real star qualities, just a loud mouthed moron.

That's true. But if you saw/heard his act for the first time, you might think, "hmm, this guy could be interesting". And that's what upper management's looking at -- some kind of shit that'll stick to the walls. If all you track are potential "Q" ratings, then keep trying him in different roles makes sense.

As opposed to being like you and I, who've listened to this act since the Score first went on the air, and most importantly, when North decided he was bigger than his costars. (Well, actually, no, Monsters of the Midday were getting real stale towards the end, but nothing like his act now...)

I have thought all along that the switch to general topics, which in reality, began as soon as he went solo, was an attempt by Mike to make him more marketable for his next contract. I think he would love to be on a station like WLS. In fact, I think Mike really kicks himself for he and Jiggets not taking the offer by WFAN several years ago.

As far as TV goes, Mike has ALWAYS been attempting that form of media. He had the Basta Pasta shows, an attempt to get the Jimmy Kimmel "picks" segment on the NFL pregame show, the North Side, and now his NBC5 gig. The shows generally last one season and are never renewed.

Mike North is a sports version of Michael Savage, spouting hate with no facts, except Mike has an audience that's 1/20th of what Savage has.
