Fans, while we're still dealing with cold & snow right now, it won't be long before the weather warms up & the snow melts. It means a new season of ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" will be here before you know it. While Jon Miller & Joe Morgan return for their 20th season together in the booth, they'll have company this season in the booth. The "Worldwide Leader in Sports" has announced that former New York Mets' General Manager Steve Phillips will be joining Jon & Joe this season on ESPN's high-definition broadcasts of the game that has been a fixture on the network's spring & summer schedule since 1990. As for Peter Gammons, the veteran ESPN baseball reporter who had battled health problems last season will be back in the confines of the Bristol, CT studio instead of in the dugout for the Sunday night game to accommodate the outspoken Phillips. Yeah, it's been that long since ESPN started broadcasting baseball.

Somewhere RW isn't happy, but us fans of "he who shall go nameless" are

I'm surprised they didn't go with Tony Kornheiser, seeing how much of an impact he's made on MNF...

But his old radio show was still better than the crap we've been subjected to since Stern went to satelite. :(

I loved TK's radio show, as I also do PTI. He just doesn't fit well in the Monday Night booth. Should be a 2 man booth anyway. No sporting event should have a 3 man booth.

No argument here.

suckers playground won't be happy about hearing Steve Phillips is clogging up the airwaves more. Worst national booth is sports.

At least he's not screwing up any baseball teams, just the broadcast.

I'd rather turn those Three Stooges down and turn up the smooth-sounding Dan Shulman & Dave "Soup" Campbell paint the picture on ESPN Radio's national coverage of "Sunday Night Baseball". Then again, if the White Sox are featured on "SNB", I wonder if Ozzie will verbally spank Steve Phillips in the dugout interview during the game. It seems as if Ozzie's been on Steve's hot seat ever since he brought the World Series title home to the Southside in 2005.

Not trying to be negative like most of these posters just because it's the way to be nowadays.I like Jon Miller, But not too much Joe when he talks about how great his Reds teams were. And he makes too many baseball mistakes for being a HOF.
Steve Phillips? He's bad in the studios and in the booth. Most of ESPN guys suck. As does White Sox guys except Stone. Farmer puts me to sleep.
I wish the new guys would have taken lessons from guys like Vin Scully, Harry, Jack Buck and Mel Allen. Those guys painted a picture for you. If they were doing TV side, they didn't talk and talk and talk about nothing.

I'm all for getting Joe Morgan out of the ESPN "Sunday Night Baseball" booth, Bryan. I don't think Steve Phillips & Ozzie Guillen will be exchanging things other than the bird when they feature the White Sox on their air this season...
