Quick question. Who's supposed to be driving this show? I'd assume Salisbury but couldn't tell at all today. They were too busy talking over each other like all the political morons on those news channel talk shows. "Can I finish, can I finish?"

Ha, I'm pretty sure its Rosey. It seemed like he was the one moving things along. He's got a tough job with Salisbury being his counterpart though.

It wasn't a great show, but I'm not ready to write it off yet. They need to find what works for them (and I don't mean yelling!!!). Give them a couple weeks to come up with some original segments and to get more comfortable. Sean needs to read up on Chicago sports history, though.

I think they'll find that not broadcasting in the city of Chicago will work quite nicely for them.

And yes, I have written the show off--even though Rosenbloom was less abrasive than I expected. It's just too Salisbury-y for me.

Somebody should inform Sean that there's no such thing as the 21 day disabled list in MLB. This guy is going to provide a LOT of material for Critics @ XL.

He also needs to be notified that our GM is Jerry Angelo, not Lovie Smith, but feel free, Sean, to blame Lovie for the Bears not drafting a TE...

Anybody else notice that when you interrupt Sean, it's "hold on! let me finish!". But when Rosey or a caller is speaking, this clown has no problem jumping all over them and yelling into the microphone? Jesus, this show is going to be terrible. Makes me wish B&B were on 10-2 again...

Also, very respectful of them to wait an entire hour before they mentioned that S&C can now be heard from 7-10. You'd think that comment would come sometime in the first 5 minutes of the program, just out of professional courtesy alone...

The problem is these guys bring out the worst in each other's personalities. It doesn't take much to get Salisbury yelling, he's a turd by nature, but Rosey is going to have him screaming all the time. He's got that "I know you are but what am I" tone working for him, and that just brings out the douchebag in Salisbury. On the other side, Rosey is much better under a relaxed environment where he can take his time and put together a reasonable thought. But since Sean only gives you about 6 seconds to make your argument before the yelling commences, now you've got a stumbling, hurrying, discombobulated Rosenbloom as well.

This has disaster written all over it. I predict there will be a Mac vs Midday Crew rift, similar to the Mac vs Mariotti one, within 30 days.

Yeah, I agree. That's pretty bush league. At least come up with your own damn name.

Silvy mentioned it tonight. He said they lost it in the divorce, but he fighted for it. Apparently the guys got shit on more than once, ha.

Woke up around the beginning of the show, had some of the morning free, so I was half asleep, but fell asleep with the show on (It was weird, as my dreams went on with the show in the background. Though in the dream they were discussing dismantling the Cubs, and had Stone on who had to tell them that Lee had a no trade clause), then woke up for good with about an hour to go.

The segment with Mac was uncomfortable for me. I thought this guy had radio shows before? And there's Mac giving him pointers like a toddler, and then doing yelling of his own. Actually, I'll be interested in Mac's evaluation in the future, as today's show reminded me of the crap radio crew that calls games for the Sox.

I still hate Rosenbloom though, from the parts I heard, he didn't sound comfortable to me. Agreed on too much restaurant talk

Holy shit, looks like I am late to the bashing party.

I tuned in for the first two segments and the last two segments of the show. The one item I forgot to mention in my tirade the other day on Salisbury is the National Media angle on players and coaches. Coaches can do no wrong and should not be fired for the players mistakes. But, in the same breath, calling out a player makes a coach you dont want to play for. So, here is what I am left to believe from Steak: We cant blame the coach, and cant expect the players to improve upon the mistakes that were made.

Here is an idea Sean, get a FUCKING CLUE. You no longer are preaching to the ESPN national audience who takes your pre-rehearsed lines and laps it up like little puppies. Your screaming and all out arrogance is going to lose you listeners faster than you can pack on pounds at some of our wonderful Chicago establishments (thats saying something).

In case you didnt get the point from the majority of the these comments: THE LOUDER YOU GET, the more buttons get punched. Good luck, you are off to the worst start possible, you just proved everything that has been said about you on these boards correct.

I don't like that argument. We've never won an NFL football game either. But I'll give my opinons. There are smarter ways to criticize the guy then that. All of the above posts should give everyone enough amo.

I once heard Salsbury while previewing teams for the upcoming NFL season basically had every team in the playoffs. During NFL playoff previews he has 4 teams making it to the Super Bowl. EG's right. Every coach is great every player is great. When teams lose its nobodys fault.

My man, you are on fire tonight. If this is the S&R game plan, it's doomed to fail. I subscibe to the theory that you only get one chance to make a first impression. While sports junkies like us might give you a second chance, the average listener might be lost for good.

Imagine the casual sports fan, tired of the North clusterfuck, tuning in for an alternative. The first thing he hears is where Rosie's gonna take Sean for dinner. They're gonna think WTF and assume all sportstalk's the same. Now you've lost a potential listener.

I'll give them another try, but if nothing changes, then nothing changes.

Thank you A7X. So much easier to remember, only 3 letters.

Anyway, I agree, I will listen again, but I now have confirmed my suspicions about how the show will sound. It will likely take a miracle for me to return for any extended period of time.

What did Spaceballs really do when he was over at SCR? Were there sweeping changes when he walked in the door?

I really thought S&C were building something from 9 am to 12 PM .I think they were screwed and treated with disrespect by not only Spaceballs but Dan McNeil in particular.. Here is a guy who screams Team player but any time there was chance to take a shot or a back-handed comment about his teammates there was Dan ..To have guy's trying out for ones job and throwing bouquets to fill-ins as your so called teammates are given time off , shows Dan's true colors here..

I know me being a Chicago guy, that Shawn has a big hill climb to try and be accepted as an outsider and a West coast guy and e-mailers and callers are going to try and tear this guy a new asshole everytime he makes a mistake and remind him he's not from Chicago . Will he make it?I don't know but if their show starts to sink , I'm sure Dan McNeil will be there to help drill more holes in that boat ..

I think you got the situation pegged Sock. When it comes to his co-workers, Mac does seem to talk out of both sides of his mouth at times.

Don't worry Greg, I'm even later, mostly thanks to the tool that hacked the site.

I really don't have much to add that hasn't been said, except these:

1) Rosey: STOP HITTING THE SAME DROP!!! At least Murph has more than one; if I hear it again I think I will be the one that "throws up in my mouth a bit." It's clumsy, and not really funny since that line has been beaten into the ground in the three years since Dodgeball came out.

2) This show needs some direction. How about a pre-show production meeting? They were all over the place in every segment. One minute Bears, one minute Cubs, one minute food? What the hell is that?

3) Ryan is absolutely right-there is no excuse for nothing but a cursory comment here and there regarding the White Sox. If these guys wanted to prove to us they know local sports, Contreras to the DL was the perfect time to do so. Salisbury just spewed national thought on Wood and the Messiah.

4) As far as emails go, I was tempted, but am not participating anytime soon. I'm still pissed the boys got screwed, and I refuse to help this show dig the knife further in. I wonder if this is why there wasn't much class participation? That, and considering the HOSTS can't get a word in edge-wise, why would Bongwater Chad think he will?

I hear him bashing Dan Patrick quite a bit and S&C were easy targets but I learned something a long time ago and it's pretty profound in that you see the same people going up the ladder and you do going down the ladder.

Is'nt Dan the same guy who was suspended from the Score for bashing ticket brokers who happened to be a sponser at the Score??

We can't get enough of STUB-HUB on his show and I think Dan is the voice over on that one ..Talk about both sides of the mouth !!!

I think Jurko had 7 career sacks. I don't dislike Salsburry because he's not from here or because he sucked as a quarterback. I dislike him because he's a loud mouth with no radio skills. If someone listens to him 5 days a week they will end up looking like John Clayton.

I'm beginning to think with how much of a clusterfuck this show is going to be, maybe it would have been wise to have kept Silvy or Carm (one of them) around to help drive the show. Maybe two hosts are hard to cooperate with Sean's big mouth, and three would be mission impossible, but it certainly isn't gonna go anywhere the way it is now.

Second day, already done with this show. Even tried to give it a chance. Honestly though, for me it's Rosenbloom that I don't like. I wouldn't mind Salisbury if he had someone good who could drive the show while being listenable, not some annoying weekend guy

After listening 2 days, Salisbury is starting to win me over a bit. They did have a couple of good guests in yesterday with Hawk and Buck and weren't yelling as much. Hopefully they'll keep improving and stop talking over each other.

I loved the opportunity for something quality against North, but this?

My essential problem right now is, it's like listening to B&B without the clever drops and "hey buddy". I mean Dusty bashing, Sosa bashing. Yesterday they had Hawkaroo. Could not these guys find a way to be different?

Did anybody catch the Podsednik interview? Brutal. When Salisbury wasn't trying to prove what a jock insider he is by recounting tales of talking to Pods' wife and hanging out with them, Rosenbloom was throwing him stale softball questions about how great winning a world series is, etc. I'm not saying the interview should've been confrontational, but I'm really not interested in hearing S/R recount and and plan their social activities with their favorite jock buddies. Further, contrary to what Bores and Drinky apparently believe, there are things to discuss about what's going on NOW with the team--Contreras' injury, Haeger's performance, Jenks' recent struggles, Pods' recent offensive surge, etc.

The paradox here is that both S and R expend a lot of energy trying to prove to the listener what hip insiders they are, yet when they're presented with the opportunity to elicit inside information from a potentially rich source, they fail miserably. Awful interview--completely unprofessional in journalistic terms.

It's better than getting 4 hours of Bonds Talk .. They have had pretty good guests on the last couple of day's...I also enjoyed the Guy from Chicagoscene .com .. The guy goes out to bars and rates the female talent and gives you the times to go and pick up some Puss.

I can do without Rosy's lingo.. Nothing sounds more stupid that a 45 year old white guy trying to sound like 50 Cent or Snoop Dog..SPEAK ENGLISH and drop the slang.. I'm 26 and I'm not stupid enough to try and sound like an idiot.

TM, I think their interviewing will get better once they have some more time together to get comfortable and don't feel like they have something to prove to the guests and listeners. The main things I am happy with are good guests and less yelling. From Monday to today there has been significant improvement IMO. MJH was even a mess of confusion for the first couple weeks. As long as I hear improvement I'm happy right now. They still need to work on talking over each other but pretty decent for a first week I'd say.
