Maybe I'm still riding out a shirtless Sawyer :drunken:  ; I'll re-watch it after Mass on Sunday, and see if I still feel the same way!

i reiterate...i'm pretty sure the finale will conclude nothing, and the creators will say "we had that in mind from the beginning!" and that will be that.

Well, I'm pretty sure the finale will conclude SOME things, but most Lost fans will be disappointed. That's what happens when a popular show ends....especially one with so much mystery involved....XFiles anyone? I still think that there will be SOME closure on the last 6 years....I guess we can agree to disagree, or make a really cool bet!

though, i am not above that, at all.

but i am not in that line of work right now, so i do have the luxury and the misfortune of saying whatever i want about it.

just try to explain to yourself what the show is about, and when you can't get past "something happens here, and then something happens but we don't know why yet" because there's really nothing else to say, you'll know what i'm talkin' about.

Hurley actually explained it all last night in about 10 sentences last evening.

The best thing to happen to this series is to get an end date. Now they don't have to work in an unknown amount of filler to make an unknown number of episodes. That's where they got into trouble on the storytelling.

Now, with a finite number of episodes, they can get down to finishing this thing out as they intended. The one thing I'm counting on is their claim that they have known how this thing ends since Season 1. Now they can get busy finishing it off and I thought last night was a good start.

I love that they have only 70 hours to get that done rather than spend 3 years trying to get them back. It gives them a Mike Ditka-like sense of urgency, not the Lovie Smith-like sense of urgency.

Ben is our psychopathic mass murderer and we'll go from there.

I can see both sides of this argument. I still feel like a lot of plot points were poorly explained, if explained at all. The smoke monster, Jacob, the numbers, who Henry Gale was, the magnetic field thing in the first hatch and Walt. That being said, Its like watching a horse race that you put money down on and even though your horse isnt leading, you still hope in the home stretch he makes that last push to win.

No, I don't think Lost is anywhere near X-Files. X-Files was allowed to run itself to a messy mass of mulderisms. Lost has 70 hours to wrap it up. The good Doctor is right that an end date set 3 seasons in advance was the best thing that could have happened for the show and its viewers. The writers have already stated they will now wrap it up.

Eh, it was OK. But I grow a bit weary of the shocking plot twists every 5 minutes.

Where are people getting 70 hours from? I think, it's this season, then next season, and that's it. Right? And I think they will both be 16 episodes apiece, so there should be about 30 hours left (minus commercials gives you about 20).

I think last night pushed a bit further towards the theory I've liked about the faking of the 815 crash in the ocean. I don't think the crash was faked after the plane crashed on the island. Rather, it was faked before the crash. In fact, it was faked precisely to cause the crash.

Follow this... originally, 815 did crash into the ocean and everyone died. Now, as we're learning, you can't go back in time and change anything that's already happened. OK. But what if you go back in time, before 815 crashed, and staged a plane crash where you know 815 will later crash. Now when the time comes for the real 815 to crash... uh-oh, there's already a plane wreck down there. Can't have two planes down there when only one crashed. So the universe had to "course correct", and put the real 815 somewhere where the world could never find it. Thus preserving (essentially) the true timeline of events.

I really like that theory. The only hole is, how did the island allow the Oceanic 6 to re-enter the population?

I'm watching the show again with my sons, as they didn't see it.

I missed this on Wednesday:

After Hurley gets a talking to from Ana Lucia, he goes to the gas station to get a shirt. The song in the background? The Dream Police by Cheap Trick.
...too funny.

This is ripped from the other forum i frequent, and i like the cut of this guy's jib. he had me at the first line, which i also used to describe this season's premiere:

Quote:
These two episodes were EPIC Fail .
I don't mind time travel in a series , movie , or a video game is a long as its done good .
Here its just disaster , so here is a quick summary. SPOILERS INCLUDED

-Hugo gets blamed for 3 murders (one which Sayid did when he killed that guy outside the mental care) the other two at the
"safe house".
-Sun apparently became your stereotypical evil asian girl who wants to kill Ben , cause her husband died even tough we know he didnt'.
-Kate get's visited by two lawyers who tell her that , she needs to do a maternity test (because some mysterious client ordered so) .
She does the only thing that she can , runs away , meets with Ms Asian Psycho and tells her to kill the lawyers so she can protect the ones she loves. (YEAH like taking the maternity test would be so harder to do).
-Jack and Sayid (Who assassinates other people from Charles Widmore's group ) ,has been working with Ben for the past 3 years.
-John Locke's death get's explained , while the Island is jumping around in time Richard tells Locke the only way to convince the Oceanic Six to come back to the Island is to die. (Why is that the only way to convince people I don't fucking know ).

Now we're getting to the fun part .

-Daniel Faraday was on the bloody Island as a construction worker when the Dharma was constructing the Orchid , and the guy from the
orientation videos tells the workers to not drill in the wall anymore because behind it is an unlimited energy and with it the Dharma can travel in time . In the present with the Island jumping in time tells Sawyer , that they cannot change the past because ultimately they would fail. Unless well Daniel just goes finds Desmond in the past tells him to find his mother because somehow she can help .
(How could he talk to Desmond and change the timeline with Desmond he says "Rules don't apply to him ")

-Ben has been dicking around for three years , to get the remaining 4 dumb people to get back to the Island .
He fucks it up with Hugo , and Hugo runs screaming to the Police . Wow he must have -10 in Persuasiveness in this world.
Also there is this Lady with a computer room , that tells her she found the Island and she has 72hours to get the remaining fuckers back
to the Island , or if not well as she said :"Then god help us all". (God help us just blow up the cast of LOST already)
-Rest of the people on the Island jump around tired , hungry , and annoyed , but have no fear because some group decides to shoot
flaming arrows at them killing a few of them .

That's about it god this is so stupid .

Some of the things mentioned are a little different than what I thought, but I just wasn't so much into watching, that I probably missed them or misheard them.

No there are some things in there that are inaccurate, but it's trivial.

The thing is, if you really find all that stuff to be ridiculous (and I won't argue against that), why expend so much time and effort into following it? I don't get it. (Not you WZ, the original poster)

i wish i didn't care, if it weren't for the brilliance of the first 2 seasons of "lost" i would've ditched it like i did with "fringe". but the show is one of the bigger disappointments for me. and a part of me is still waiting for it to redeem itself even though i'm pretty sure logic tells me otherwise.

Faraday must have gone to the Mickey Dolenz acting academy. Lots of eyebrow activity, followed by the head spin and the talking as he moves his head upward and moves his eyebrows some more.

Mickey Dolenz... Good call.

I enjoyed last night's episode. Now that I know that the people chasing the Losties through the jungle during last week's episode weren't yet another group of pissed off people but Others from 1938, I'm a little less annoyed (and confused).

They have me for another few weeks.

Is Juliette always pouting her lips, or is that just the way they are?

You know, I went ahead and stuck up for this show, then we get three episodes like this?

Dude, it used to be you would at least get coherent storylines, even if you didn't know how to piece them all together. This is just nonsense.

For the fact that the rules state that you can't change what's already happened, there sure is a lot of shit changing as they jump through time every five minutes.

If Desmond's kid Charlie turns out to be the real Charlie, and not just named after him, then this show is the biggest scam of all time.

And you know, plot twists only have value when they are properly set up. And when you are invested in the storyline. You can't throw out a big shocker every two minutes and expect them to have any impact at all.

What the hell is going on with this show?

wouldn't rule it out, buddy.

probably it'll turn out locke is the father of all of them. and then the biggest reveal will be that the island is actually an alien spacecraft, and that the earth is actually mars hundreds of thousands of years ago, and ben linus is the godfather of all the martians. and when the milky way was invented, sawyer created mercury and saturn, and he had sex with kate to make the rings of saturn...and then it'll turn out that walt is actually god, and thinks of all of this as one giant sand castle he's making in some other galaxy, and when he destroys it, they're all destroyed with it.

Yeah this weeks episode sucked and I really don't like the Faraday character or the actor playing him. It's like they're using him to just pass the time until they finally get to the meat of this season's storyline which will probably kick into gear half way through hopefully. I'll still watch because what the hell are my other options on TV right now, the Bachelor? The Hills?

And he's now "In Love" with the ugly red headed daywalker. She's the most useless character on that show. Never has said or done anything remotely interesting but has gotten more camera time and story lines than many of the main characters lately. Kill her already.

I'm going to re-watch it today and then comment, but: Whoa! Widmore HAS been on the island before. That was an awesome reveal! AND, I believe we'll find out that "Angry Cute Bitch With Gun All Up in Someone's Face #4" is actually Faraday's MOM. Hmmmmm....I wonder who his father will be? Possibly Mr. Widmore, who has been privately financing Faraday's work?
