With an eye on its ratings, urban news/talk WVON-AM (1690) is shaking up its program department.
Forced out Monday after nine months as program director is Jerry Riles. He previously had been producer of Cliff Kelley's old morning show on the station.
Melody Spann Cooper, general manager of WVON and president of owner Midway Broadcasting, said a replacement, likely to come from outside of the market, could be named by the end of the week.
"In order to be more competitive in our niche, we have to bring in somebody who's cut their teeth in a large market," she said.
In the Arbitron winter survey, the station tied for 32nd place with 0.7 percent share.

Look like Riles is in competition with me for a job.

Yeah thats almost as bad as when Mitch Rosen said that (paraphrasing) re-signing J. Hood wasn't a priority or wasn't at the top of list.

I'm glad you brought up this thread....this should prove to everyone if you reread this thread that the Nos/Riles mults not Jerry Riles, but a former Friday overnight producer and former Bears board guy before Rock...I knew it couldn't have been Jerry Riles....

Another riddle I am trying to figure out-Board index says that the most users on in one day was June 27 2007. Was that the Turkish invasion, or why in the world were there 234 people online at 3 PM on that day?
