Please stop this madness. I want events where I can sit down, drink and WATCH people play sports.

I think I would be out on the 21st. Taking the 20th off and watching the NCAA's
with some buddies at a bar. If it becomes the 28th I would seriously consider
attending.

Shit forgot about March Madness. Well, it's only a couple of hours missed and since my team won't sniff the NCAAs I'm ok with it

In my experience, this is the best way to ensure that you'll be wrong about your assumption, i.e. you say your team won't sniff the NCAAs now, and come the time of the game you'll find that your team will indeed be there, and also playing at the same time that Hoops is scheduled

Good. Drinking is a good activity year round, but bowling is best from say October to March.

CoF will figure this out - Shameless plug, if anyone in the Schaumburg area is looking to play weekly on Thursday nights let me know. I play through the park district. Basically 30+.

I love bowling.
Glass bowls, wood bowls, marble bowls.
Really though, bowling is a great idea.

coming Monday...the Bowling thread. We will try to pull it off in Feb. to avoid conflict with Hoops 3/March Madness.

If bowling is so cool, why doesn't it have its own emoticon?

now that I've got the bowling event set up, we will set the date for Hoops 3 perhaps as early as this weekend. Vince and I will talk it over.

Hoops 3 will be on the 28th of a busy board month in March. I will call Weschester today and try to nail down a cheap per hour price.

With all the board gatherings coming up, why don't you guys postpone Hoops 3 until mid April or early May and play outside somewhere?

I thought about that. Couple things...one, I think Hoops events draw a different board group than the bowling event will...although I would love to see everybody together at both...and I also want to try getting a softball CSFMB event off the ground in May. We'll play it by ear though. If the guys are played out for March after the first two events, we'll push Hoops ahead. But if we can get 12-15-20 people on the 28th for Hoops 3, we'll do it. I'm more concerned with the back-to-back events (7th and 14th), because I'd love to see a lot of people make both and it's tough to give up two Saturdays in a row. But I'm not bumping either of those two because the majority of the board wants the 21st free for march madness, and there's no point in me putting together an event that only a minority of the board can make.

Except for the soccer get-togethers  Of which there is one next Sat. in Naperville...

As CoF mentioned in another thread, the location is up in the air. I want to get a feel from people on here - is it better in the city, the 53 corridor or suburbs around the city?

I figured anything off of 294 would be pretty equidistant for most.

What happened to Westchester?

The further NW, the harder it is for me, but I can travel just about anywhere so it doesn't really matter that much.

Westchester - the short version that I got from CoF is that they are planning maintenance on the center that would require them to shut down. They don't have a date but it's likely to be that weekend. OK, so city and near in suburbs sound good. OK, will start helping out CoF tomorrow on making some calls.

Just letting everyone know I was burning up the phones for a bit.

The two I found so far.

Shabbona park which is Addison, east of Harlem is available from 12-4 at a whopping 137 an hour

Franklin Park IL's community center had their gym available from 11-1 for 45 an hour.
