I feel they have more pressing needs in the draft. I think they should sign a WR in FA and then a later round draft but I don't want TJ or Toomer and I think bryant will cost too much. That's why I'm asking. Is he an upgrade to the crap the Bears have now?

Nearly 100 catches and 1,100 yards...in one year not one career. Granted it was in a Mike Martz offense, but he is not Waddle. He would instantly become the second best WR on this team. That's not saying much but an upgrade is an upgrade...and then add Boldin.

Boldin, Hester and Furrey in the slot would put them in a nice spot at WR.

I would take Furrey over all the crap that we had last year.

Waddle was better. Furrey was just what was left over after teams stopped covering Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams. The Bears have enough #3 receivers. Stockpiling more of them doesn't help anyone.

Irish, I'm not thinking about tweaking the WR corps. I am thinking about totally revamping it. If you tell me they will get Boldin and draft Hakeem Nicks, I am on board. I think they will do one or the other, which means there is a need for another #3.

Mike Furrey is a better WR than Hester.

He's probably not a #1 WR either but he's closer than Hester.

Maclin, Furrey, and Hester is a major upgrade in our talent.

Furrey is not a better WR than Hester. It's a little like comparing apples and oranges because the skill sets are so different, but a Mike Furrey can be found anywhere. Hester has a much more potentially valuable skill set.

GD, I'd take Boldin, Nicks, and Furrey. I'd rather take Boldin, Nicks, and Hester. If Furrey is your #4 option, OK, but I wouldn't get too excited about the posibilities, and the upgrade isn't all that big.

It is HIGHLY unlikely that they both trade for Boldin and draft a WR (especially because Boldin will cost you both a 1 and probably 3). Therefore you have Boldin and Hester or Nicks and Hester but not Boldin, Nicks and Hester. This leaves a hole at #3 unless you feel strongly about the chances of either Davis or Bennett.

Devin Hester's skill set is that he is fast.

He's not a good wide receiver yet.

His ceiling is much higher than Furrey's but I feel that Furrey is currently a more reliable WR right now.

I remember watching him with the Lions thinking man this guy can play. Good hands, good speed and good routes.

He was running decent routes by the end of the year. He was reliable enough hands that he doesn't drop easy passes. He also has breakaway speed. Even in Furrey's big season, the knock on him was his hands. Despite being white, he's not a tremendous route runner. He is, at best, a slower, whiter, older Devin Hester.

If Furrey is cheap, then fine. I mean, it's not like I'm worried about getting Rashied Davis onto the field. But #3 WR is should be a very small concern considering that the Bears have what could be an elite pass-catching tight end. But I do not want Mike Furrey taking Devin Hester's playing time.
