This is what I have been told by the vast majority of my buddies here in the Army, most of whom listen to rap or hip hop. Every weekend we clean the barracks and play our music in our areas, and usually Ill play some sort combo of Dead, Phish, Dylan, ABB, Flord, Zepp, Beatles, Clapton, Bob Marley, CCR, Jimi, Janis, Doors, SCI, Umphrey's, etc. They all really hate on it. Only one other guy likes that kinda stuff. Whenever I play something more modern like RHCP, PJ, Sublime or MGMT I will get more positive responses but for the most part I have been told the music I listen to is terrible. Sucks for me.

People that don't like CCR don't have any right to serve this country, let alone be in it. And Pink Flord are awesome.

I thought the requirement to like CCR was part of the Uniform Code of Military Justice

If it's only a "modern" thing, try a little PE, EPMD, KRS-ONE, NWA...maybe that'll work

I was at one of my son's hockey classes on Friday and I heard this woman say "ya know that song by Led Zeppelin, Another Brick in the Wall..." It made me giggle.

Being a committee member of the 77th precinct of the Arbiters of Cool, I can officially say that your fellow soldiers are right, but if it's any consolation, the rap and hip hop they're listening to likely sucks worse.

The music I like now sucks only because it is best in the studio. I have no inclination to see most of the bands I listen to live, such as TV on the Radio or Death Cab.

FF, most of the music you list doesnt suck, its just relatively outdated and overplayed. In its time it was great.

Hoffy doesn't come off as a guy who is comfortable being shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of sweaty 22 year olds being blasted with an 80db wall of sound.

Speaking of which, Mastodon has a new record coming out next month. Shall we pencil in a repeat performance of the drink-a-thon that was the show at the Riv?

I feel your pain FF. I feel like I'm on an island sometimes with the music I listen to.
Oh, and Favre doesn't suck (anymore). :P

Well if your username means the same thing as it does in the music world, you have good taste in music. So I will trust your judgment on that one. :D
