would get some kind of night/day/flag/banner in their honor. That can't happen. That's what makes those who get "their night" that much more special.

It was odd, that a lot of the guys spoke of how mad Norm was that he didn't get "his money", he didn't get "his night" etc. One person even mentioned that he was hurt that Bob Love had his number retired, yet he was the one who gave him the ball. Then they spoke of the time he wanted to get a second technical foul, to get kicked out of the game, so he could go to a stones concert(????) Boy, with that selfish attitude, he would have fit in fine in todays NBA.

All in all, a sad, and at the same time, a very strange day on WMVP. After 4 hours of Norm, I can only shudder to think of what will happen should Da Coach leave us. Will they shut down the radio industry? A national day of mourning? Lord help us all....RIP Norm

Nice post Sarge but I feel Van Lier's number should've been retired years ago. It's not like we're talking about Dennis Hopson here.
Just think it would be great for players and fans of that player, to see that number go up and enjoy seeing #2 hanging from the rafters. If the Bulls do it now, they're a day late and a dollar short.

*Harry T comes off as a professional kiss ass and can't be taken seriously.

It would have to be in Crayon and have a lot of pictures. My rehab stories are pretty good though. Those stories would sell some copies.

Harry would probably retire #17 with the Cubs, for his guy Grace too. Retiring a number, should be an honor reserved for only the very elite. Norm was a VERY GOOD player. The best point guard in Bulls history ( a bit of a tallest midget award there) but no hall of famer and not really worthy of number retirement. To retire the number now, would smack of political correctness. It would be hollow, as Norm would not be here to see it retired, as well. Just do a Norm Van Lier night, show a nice highlight video and have a moment of silence.....thank you.
