It's called Chicagowebio.com. The only way it can work is here. Cuz we know some of these ass holes. And it can't work here if these SOBs are talking national sports.

Right. Cuz Webber and Hood will have a national appeal. Please. People will give up ESPN radio for these guys? Nobody knows who Webber is in Chicago even. People are not going to give up ESPN radio and all of their resourses for a couple of guys doing a national web show in a Chicago suburb with no resourses. Look at all of the athletes ESPN radio gets. They have tons of reporters working all of their outlets that they can put on the radio as well. You think Hood and Webber are gonna get big time guests for a national audience? Are they gonna break stories from that Chicago suburb? How? They don't have the money to compete. That's nonsense.

Your right on that count, but if you can sale 1000 radio stations a whole days worth of programming for say 500 bucks a week, that's 500,000 a week. Then you can go out and hire more reporters, get more guests, etc. I'm just throwing numbers out there, but I don't think it sounds far-fetched to me.

Then they lose the market that they have the best chance of succeding. You're gonna take all of these local Chicago guys and tell Chicago to listen to them talking national sports. No way.

SportingNews Radio and ESPN radio is what the hillbilly markets get. They're not gonna take on this thing. These hosts aren't very good and can't compete with the hosts on those other two anyway.

Jesse's wife is a lawyer. He keeps a job in radio just so he isn't forced into the roll of Mr. Mom.

Ok. I didn't know that. Who the hell watches the 3 kids? I guess Jesse did when he was covering baseball. He didn't have to be at the park until 5pm.

Do you think Jesse's wife rolled her eyes when Jesse told her he was taking this?

Maybe the hot dog salesman is on to something here. Let's do some simple math.

Say they can sell 2 commercials per hour. 48 a day. That's 17520 per year. If you sold them for $250 that's $4,380,000

Not bad.

Cut it in half. They are only on 12 hours a day.

They're only broadcasting for 12 hours. So if you sold 2 per hour it would be 24 a day. Pappy isn't gonna sell ads for $250 in this shitty economy for this shitty web cast with these shitty hosts.

Dont think they'd get 250 an ad either.

So Beardown, I'm guessing you don't like Mikey's act? I love it when a half an Irishman tries to pass himself off as 100% Italian. Maybe he can team up with Andrew Dice Clay.
Then they can "whoa" & "fergettaboutit" all day long.

Check out this Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini guy. What a douche. It's not the guy I was thinking of. I never heard of him. People are gonna wanna to listen to this guy over B&B? What the fuck will this guy know about anything but boxing. He's teaming with Chet? C'mon. Pappy's Crappy said this guy is rich so he just needs to kill the days.

Here's his Wikapedia. Says he owns a cigar company and operates a couple of movie production things. Says he lives in LA. He's moving here to do this shit?

What Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini were you thinking of? :?

I would think North would have tried to dig up Henry Mancini to pair with Chet.

I don't know. I never heard of him. I don't follow boxing. There was an ass hole that was always on the CLTV show that used to be a boxer. I thought it was him.

I don't know how old some of you guys are but Boom Boom was a pretty big deal back in the early '80s.

Yes, he killed a korean boxer. He is an interesting guy. I saw him on MITM. His problem: he talks about as fast as Robin Williams (but without the "nut hugging") He will mangle the language on a radio show. Another "car wreck" that will draw listeners who enjoy bad radio.

This guy is a former boxer that is living in LA. He's gonna do Chicago sports talk?

From what I gather he's a millionaire with no connection to Chicago. He's been in movies and owns a movie production company. All of a sudden he's gonna take a 40k, low-rent sports show job and watch Cubs and Sox games so he can talk about Lou not making a double switch when he should have. Are you fucking kidding me?

a. Why the fuck would he want this?

b. Why would Chicagosportswebio want him? What's he gonna offer to their listeners?

Please. Somebody explain this.

Well, I guess it's a sign of my age that others don't know who Boom-Boom Mancini is, but nevertheless, it kind of begs the question: Who then is going to be interested in listening to this guy teamed with Coppock? Yeah, can't wait to hear Chet and some old, retired, punch-drunk boxer that lives in LA and makes cigars and that no one under 50 knows break down that Bulls inbounds play last night. Yeah, that'll make me tune out B&B. Good god.

That's what I'm saying. He's a millionaire living in LA. Why does he need this? This guy ain't watching Cubs and Sox games. Why would he? I'll bet if you asked him right now he couldn't name more than 2 players on each team. If I were him I'd be at LA's strip clubs every day. He'll probably just talk about the good-ole-days of boxing. Something nobody cares about anymore.

I really am facinated by the wide range of this staff. Their staff goes from a poor kid, Matt Webber, that nobody knows to a fairly famous and rich Ray Mancini.

The shows may suck, but look at all the resources and athletes newspapers get, how's that working out?

It's such a huge factor that people can't listen in their cars. There are tens of thousands of cars on the Chicagoland roads throughout the day. Probably a couple hundred thousand cars during the rush hours. I'm talking from Joliet to Round Lake and the Western suburbs. That's a huge audience that the web can't get.

Like I said, people at work aren't going to have the urge to punch up "Webber and Greenstein", "Hood and Doyle", or "Chet and The Italian Stalian" to hear them talk about the Cubs and Sox game.

Murph, "Silvy and Waddle" and even "Hamp and Holme" will have the majority of on line listeners. Just cuz they're the Score and ESPN. They are strong brands in Chicago. People want to listen to stuff everybody is listening too. Just so you can say "Did you hear what Murph said?" to your buddy. Even if you don't love those guys you'll always go there over a low rent webio show. Murph always has a following. Especially during the baseball season. Silvy and Waddle seem to be gaining popularity. The station even gave them an extra hour. That says something about their success. Nobody is gonna listen to "Chet and Rocky" over B&B or even the "Afternoon Saloon".

The gut from the CLTV Roundtable show is Bobby "The Hitman" Hitz.
He's an ex-boxer and current boxing promoter and really is a good guy.

If he could get Dahl, McNeil, and Grobstein on board, this thing might have a shot.

Did Coppock and Hood get let go from ESPN 1000?

They couldn't afford McNeil. He's gonna get 500k from the Score in a couple of months. Have you looked at this line up. It's guys who can't get any legit full time radio jobs? That's why they're doing this.

He's gotta be going to the Score, but will he get 500k? Every big-ass conglomerate is playing possum now with the economy.

Ok. Whatever it is it will be a hell of a lot more than these guys are getting paid by Chicagosportswebio. They don't have any money if the economy is effecting regular radio. This webio won't have 1/1000th of the listenership of ESPN or the Score. Probably less than that once the initial pub buzz runs out. Why don't you get that? These webio hires were desperate and cheap. Nobody else wanted them. That's why they are doing this. It will be at least 400k for Mac at the Score.

North stresses the employees at ChicagoSportsWebio.com will enjoy the same benefits of full-time employees at other workplaces, and they'll also have a stake in the station's success.

"Everybody who works for ChicagoSportsWebio.com is getting full health benefits and life insurance," North said. "And each person will have a sales packet given to him.

"If they sell ChicagoSportsWebio.com to somebody, they get 15 percent. If I sell $100,000 worth of advertising, I get $15 grand. If [WSCR] did this, I'd still probably be there."

Of course. North has to do it this way. Make the guys sell their own show for their pay. No other way to do it. He doesn't have the money. So are Hood and Coppock gonna go door to door?

This is bad and funny.

Where did you find that quote Spmack?
