I agree. Yeah, webio is getting Score and ESPN guys. What are they getting? This can only work if the shows are good. These guys aren't that talented. That's why they are joining a web broadcast. Let's look at the line up one more time. Who cares what these guys have to say? Is there a huge demand to hear any of these guys?

6-9 a.m.: Simulcast of "Monsters in the Morning."

9-11: Teddy Greenstein, the college football and golf writer for the Tribune, and Matt Weber, a young upstart from WSCR.

11-3 p.m.: Jonathan Hood, a host at WMVP, and Tim Doyle, a former Northwestern basketball player who now works for the Big Ten Network.

3-6: Chet Coppock, the one and only, and Boom Boom Mancini, the successful lightweight boxer during the 1980s. That should be an interesting pairing.

Ever notice that Ted Cocks stories always read like a press release?

Why are you so obsessed with something that will certainly fail? Are you studying up on the United Football League?

Teddy Greenstein backs out!!!! Trib said he can't do it.

From Ted Cox:

Greenstein suddenly got the kibosh Thursday from his editors at the Chicago Tribune, after they had originally given him the OK; North and Program Director Jesse Rogers will look for a replacement host.

"My editors felt that the time commitment required to prepare for and do a 10-hour-a-week show would be too great," Greenstein said.

I went to ESPN 1000's web site. They finally took down "The Show" section on the site. It used to have JD's, Carm's and Hood's picture there. Even after Carm took over the "Afternoon Saloon". No longer. Hood is not anywhere on the site anymore.

Coppock is still there. In their "More Shows" bar they still list him as the co host of "Talkin' Baseball" on Saturday and the host of "Chicago's Gameday" on Sunday. I wonder if that's just until Webio is launched. If not Chet will be doing a show every day of the week.

North's show can take Hampton! Leave us our Doug and O.B. though. Doug gives Dan and Terry pissing in a tree jokes for the whole winter...and who will ride the elevator up and down the NBC Tower?

this sounds like an awesome idea. Its totally going to appeal to everyone who is at home all day playing on the net. Advertisers really like people who are at home all day, cause they really go out and spend the big money. I am going to miss webby's intro and outro music, never again will I hear the likes of alkaline trio, brand new and the lawrence arms on the radio again. I hope you don't have to look like a douche and wear ed hardy shirts like north though.

Both Coppock and J-Hood were told to 'GO FOR IT' by Justin Craig - as ESPN1000 can't offer them the opportunity Northy's Webio can.

This straight out of Mr. Bristol Midwest's mouth at the Cubby Bear remote.

So I'm sure once they hit the airwaves... or is it cyberwaves at Northey's Webio - they're hasta la bye bye. Bruce Levine has even indicated as much on his Talking Baseball Show. Rumor has it 35th Street Slick is being given careful consideration as the South Side Ying to Bruce's North Side Yang - as a possible cohost.

Coppock said good-bye on ESPN 1000 today. It was his last show.

Jesse and George were bad. I cannot imagine what the B team will sound like. Please don't give me Zach and Loho

Will it be Hit n Run with Rodewald and Garcia? Bloomberg and Bartosh ? Oppportunity is knocking. Gotta scrape from the bottom of the Score website. :D

That sounds great, Grid. You can call it the Prick and the Dick.

Zaidman and Schuster, apparently talking lots of Sox. More like Circle and Jerk.

Thats not a bad pairing with the fill-ins they have left. Schuster is pretty knowledgeable. Zach has improved a lot from when he started. His Bears shows are listenable, but he's going to have work on his baseball . They'll still be a long way from Offman and Jesse. Levine is pretty good on the Saturday AM1000 show too.

Not having to incur $3.95 in archived article fees, the editors new where this was headed and spared Teddy the trouble.

1. This will fail. How can they get advertisors? You have to have people listening in their cars for a broadcast operation to make money. Especially for mornings and afternoons. If you don't have that you can't make money.

2. The line up sucks. Nobody would want to listen to any of these people if they were on regular radio.

3. I'm curious as to what these hosts are making. Jesse probably got a good enough deal to quit the Score. I really can't see any of these hosts making more than 40k. These shows won't make that money back. Look at these hosts. They are never-beens or guys who see their careers slipping away. So it's worth a shot for them.

4. Most listeners will go to the Score and ESPN 1000 if they do want to listen to something over the internet.

5. Is this webio thing gonna have reporters covering the Sox, Cubs and Bears daily? The Score and ESPN have that. They have to have reporters if they want credibility.

6. Regular radio is struggling. Now you're gonna put a 3rd sports talker out there in this struggling economy. Can't work.

7. North will file for Chapter 11 with this in a year.

Beardown, you can be weird and be an ass, but damn this wasn't bad....
