Saw the scroll on the bottom of the Hawks telecast that Mac will join North and Jiggs tomorrow morning on their trainwreck of a show. Mac do yourself a favor and rip the shit out of Harry and be a total douchebag like North was when you had him on you're show .. Enjoy the 6am drive in ... :P

In Wednesday's Red Eye, Jen was in the Five on Five section.

When asked: Be honest. Last night's play-in game ruined your bracket didn't it?

Jen's response: I should have known, everyone loves Morehead!

A girl after my own heart!

Does Monsters in Da Mourning offer any type of video replay online?

No video posted until later or tomorrow but they do have audio. Not sure
what hour McNeil was on but here is a link if you want to find out how it went.

Pretty vanilla interview. Nothing earth shattering, mostly recent
sports talk. North almost got Dan to reveal a start date at the
Score but McNeil caught himself and didn't admit to anything.

Somebody on this board said they talked to Huebner and he said Murph's contract ends in April. I remember reading that Hamp only signed a one year deal with the Score. So maybe they give Mac murph's slot and expand him to 4 hours once Hamp is done.

Or maybe, since they need a baseball reporter, they give Mac 10-2 with Hampton and move Larry back to reporter. Then when Hamp's contract ends they give Mac a new partner. Or maybe Mac will do 2 hours with Hamp and 2 hours solo.

I think if they sign Mac they'll want him for 4 hours. He'll want that too. A 2 hour show is less salary. He'll be too big of a hire to only give him 2 hours. If you hire him you want him to bring his listeners for the longest possible time slot.

is this related to murph being on "vacation" this week?

They nit pick Jen a little but there are times she deserves it. She is getting a lot of air time. Maybe that's why Jigs is salty with her.

Why was Mac in the background for about 20 minutes in Jen's third of the screen?

Pretty good the way Mac steered the conversation back to sports a few times. He might have wanted to be the driver. What was in the goodie bag?

North talks too much and they do weird shit. They gave Mac a cookie. Why the heck would you want your guest chewing up a cookie on air?

Murph signed a multiyear contract in June 2008. I remember reading about it in the Trib or the Sun-Times when he signed it. I'll see if I can find the article.

This is from Fred Mitchell's June 29, 2008 column:

Word on the street

WSCR-AM 670 midday host Mike Murphy, who has logged more than 16 years with the station, has signed a multiyear extension. ...

He may have a contract with the station, but that doesn't mean he has a contract for a time slot.

Maybe the Score has an option where they can get out of Murph's deal. That's what happened to Mac. They exersised it before his last year was to begin.

Murphy has also been pretty successful. He should keep his 2 hour show.

How about Mac on a morning show, say 6-9 AM, and then Mully/Hannly moved back to 9-12?

I noticed that too. That must be the waiting area for guests. I'm sure Mac knew he was in the shot. I think it would have been hilarious if he started making faces in the background, but we all know that would have been unprofessional.

He definitely knew. He smirked at one point. Definitely an awkward situation though, it just gave the viewer one more reason to tune Jen Jen out.

All in all, as mentioned, pretty uneventful. The best part, in my opinion, is that Mac didn't announce an allegiance to the webio. That would have been pretty dissapointing.

Is Mac going to comment on his appearance? Or is it in some other thread?

Murph has consistently had good ratings and has a loyal audience. The only way they'd let him go is if it were to cut costs and I highly doubt he makes that much. Mully and Hanley are good but 4 hours is way to much. I could see Murph moving to mornings, 6-9, then Mully and Hanley 9-11. With PPM being very good for middays and so many people listening at work I could see Mac doing an 11-2 as he'd be a great lead in for BB. In the past Murph was the only guy to beat Mike and Mike and if it were to happen again they would easily win the rating wars in every day part.

He should have gotten on his cell phone and waved wildly at the camera.

This fact disturbs me.
