These kids are fun to watch and last nights game was great but the crowd was not as loud and frenzy like as Thursday's was but reguardless to have a young team come back from 2 goals down was awesome.

I 've said this before but Kaner has to start standing up for himself as after every whistle Calgary was pushing, shoving, facewashing the kid. They are trying to get the kid off his game and they made it a point to go after him after every whistle last night.I know now is not the time for him to make a statement and drop his gloves but sometime soon he's going to have make a stand and this crap of people running him will stop. He has the rep of being soft and the Flames made it a point to let the NHL know it .

He's no Roenick but teams ran JR his rookie and second year and then he got a little bigger and made a stand and dropped the gloves with all people Bob Probert and he got his ass kicked but gained a ton of respect around the NHL.

Last time that Kane tried to stand up for himself was in the beginning of the season when he was giving high sticks to everyone, which IMO was a real pussy-like move, so I don't even know if he knows how to stand up for himself.

Went to the game and sat directly behind the Flamers' bench. The Blackhawk people handed out playoff beards to our row, presumably because they figured we'd frequently be on TV; so if you saw some ZZ Top looking fuckers sitting behind the Calgary bench, the one in the Cub hat was me. We came straight from the Cubs game, which was awesome, and barely made it on time. I was a little worried when the Hawks went down 2-0, and missed their first goal when I was in the bathroom. The rest of the second period was just outstanding. A couple of awesome goals for the Hawks, and some really nice stops by Khabi. It was cool to see Dempster had also made the journey, after just having watched him pitch, and he acknowledged us when we yelled "Demp!" Got a nice look at some cleavage on the chick who shot the puck as well. Oh, and it was my friend's birthday, so the whole day made for a nice celebration. Probably one of the best, if not the best, days of my sports-life.

The only bad part of the day was missing from the second half of the 3rd quarter on of the Bulls game, which evidently was exciting. On a strange note, there were a surprisingly large number of Cardinal fans at the Hawks game. Couldn't quite figure that one out. The fact that they were in red worked out though.

Dale should have pen in hand to sign Geroge Larouqe next season to ride shotgun with the kid and also have a trainer ready to put weight on him and build him up. Calgary was on a mission to get the kid off his game and pound him and it looks like they did that . Towes came to the rescue on Kane at least 4 times the other night .

Sign the toughest guy in hockey next year and I will bet the house no one comes near Kane next year and this will show you why.

if kane isn't in then colin frasier will dress tonight. We need more players like frasier out there than players like kane. Calgary is going to be charged tonight and they are going to come out swinging, kane would be a sitting duck. Frasier on the other hand, knows how to act tough, especially for a little guy. Expect Frasier to be in a lot of post-whistle activitys tonight if he plays, which is just what we need.

I love this sport, but this is definitely one part of it that I absolutely hate. I cant believe it gets to the point that a star player needs to be a fighter to be able to play in the playoffs. Slappy, you want the guy to fight? What happens if Mr. Sloppy Seconds does serious damage to the guy? If you respond that "he wasnt made for the NHL", you are wrong. Lets just hope its nothing serious. If it is something serious, it really sucks and I may stop watching hockey because of it.

Mike you didn't see Calgary ganging up on this kid after every whistle and the pushing and shoving , face washes and cheap shots on Saturday night as his teamamtes ran to his aid after every stoppage?? He got kocked around all year and he is a very timid kid out there. I know he's still only 19 and weighs about 165 lbs but even guys like Savvy, Gretzky, Yzerman, Crosby and Toewes have stepped out and made it a point to finally drop their gloves. Rene Bourqe is no Bob Probert and Kane could of picked his spot but I've never seen such a target on a guy as I did Saturday night . I was shocked to see the Flames all over this kid and knowing Keenan he told his team to go after him every shift and THEY DID!!

My point again is that I love Kaner and I'm a big fan and if he can't protect himself than go out and get someone that will. Gretzky had Mcsorley and Semenko, Savvy had Al Secord, Yezerman had Probie and Kocur. Teams are beating on Kane and it's taking it's toll on him. I will bet you Vancouver knows it , the Ducks know it and I know the Wings know it .

Even though they gave up that goal, the Hawks have come out aggressively tonight versus how they played like shit the other two opening stanzas.

Fluke goal in the second but they're still playing fairly well. Still being aggressive and getting some quality scoring chances.

That's game, I'm getting really sick of these TSN broadcasters on Versus. Effing homers.

The more I think about it, I'm not buying this Kane/flu thing. In the afternoon, they said he didn't skate to rest an "undisclosed injury", then it was upper body, then magically before game time it's the flu. When players have the flu, they are normally quarantined away from the rest of the team - he rode the team plane, bus, staying at same hotel, etc.

So - is he actually hurt, or was he benched for performance/disciplinary reasons?

So you began to get your wish last night. Adam Burish, in a move similar to my first real fight in fourth grade, attacked Rene Bourque and then ran away from him like a little a bitch. Burish crosschecked him so hard that stick shaft shattered in half. Is this what you would like to continue seeing from the sport?

To add to this, how does Detroit do so well when they are the team with the least number of fight-related penalty minutes over the years? Im not trying to be a jerk or anything, im simply pointing out that at this stage in my life, I would much prefer to see the skill of these guys rather than the skill players get the crap beaten out of them for the sole reason that they are skilled players. Id prefer to see two teams actually match skill and see which one can score more goals.

I'm with Ed on this one. Allowing the fighting to continue in the NHL is what will help prohibit someone like Burish from doing this on a regular basis throughout the season. Someone like Vandermeer or Roy would probably have something to say about it, given different circustances. And they still may during these playoffs....

That being said, Burish wasn't the only one up to the shenannigans at the end of the game last night. It was clear that Bourque had to have something coming for the way he was throwing his weight around for 3 games. Not sure that cross-check was it, but that turd was here for years and never hit anything. I guess the old college teammates/buddies thing doesn't mean a whole lot to Burish once the playoffs roll around, huh?
Also, Vandermeer wanted a big piece of the "notorious fighter" Seabrook ( ) and how many times did Iginla wait until there was big crowd gathered to start throwing his weight around? I love the hell out of Iginla as a player, one of the best in the league, but stop running your yap until the crowd comes - you wanna prove something as a leader? Do it then. The bear hugs between Eager and Phanuef were comical at best.

I'll answer all these questions as they are pretty easy. First , womens hockey might be more to you're liking if you can't stomach the NHL style of play in the playoff's.

I commend Burish cross checking the little douchebag Bourque as he slashed 3 Hawks last night and ran Kane hard and Cheap shotted him the first 2 games. Paybacks are a bitch and the pussy Bourque isn't going to drop his gloves and Mike we both know hockey is about intimidation so let's not play the wolf in sheeps clothing here. We can agree to disagree about the style of playing hockey and I do respect you're opinion but this is how the game has been played over the past 75 years .

And on to my Red Wings... The Wings are to skilled a team and a veteren club for clubs to come in and intimadate them. The Hawks are very young and small to a degree and the blue print on beating them is to beat on them. The Ducks pounded the shit out of the Wings 2 years ago and bounced them from the conference finals and went on to win the cup that year and they played a brusing style but teams for some reason don't play against the Wings that way now because if you do get a penalty against them odds are it's in your net. The Hawks played the Wings the last 2 games of the year in a checking style and beat them but that's not their game but they figured out it's not the Wings style either.

Keenan admitted that they were out to get Kane and what does that message send to the Hawks?

I'm all for tough, physical hockey, but the Flames, especially yesterday, were dirty. The Hawks should be commended for (mostly) keeping their cool when it was obvious the Flames' marching orders were to try to goad the opposition into stupid penalties.

That said, with the game out of hand at the very end, the Hawks simply had to do something. The refs for the most part weren't. And like Ed, I love Iginla's play, but I would have loved to see someone really pop him in the mouth. He seems to be of the opinion that the Hawks players owe him some sort of deference because of his status as one of the league's stars. Fuck him.

If the Hawks weather this storm, there is no reason they shouldn't win the series. At times it looked like they were on the PP last night when it was even strength. I can see why Calgary gets so chippy. They know they are being outclassed skill-wise.

I especially loved it every time 3-4 Flamers would give that notorious trouble maker Martin Havlat the business after every whistle. Under normal circumstances (regular seaon) a fight would eliminate that crap. Which is exactly why it doesn't happen as much during the regular season.

You guys must also remember that this is the way Mike Keenan coaches. I love the guy but you must remember he has coached in the NHL for 25 years and every one of his teams played this style from the Flyers to the early 90's Hawks to the Rangers and now Calgary. He plays a hard hitting style and he knows Kane is soft and can go into a shell after being knocked around.

Let me also say Habby looked like shit last night and let in 2 very soft goals. I think the Hawks out played Calgary for the first 40 minutes but the soft goal seem to take the life out of the Hawks . It will go back to Chicago tied at 2 games a piece as I predicted and it might go to a 7th game but the Hawks should come out a winner in this series but if the face Luongo and the Canucks I don't give them much of a chance to win that series.
