Marc is a quirky guy, but I believe a good guy, and one who has worked incredibly hard to hone his craft. Tom is a good fit for him and has been a good teammate to the cats who occupy the Emily Barr Center. Congratulations to the boys, and their fine producers Randy Merkin and Billy Z, for posting HUGE winter numbers. Very happy for Silvy's success. He's taken a few right hooks in the chin over the past four or five years and now is seeing the fruits of his labor. Now... if they could just stop playing that dumbass beer commercial chant when they talk hockey... we'd all listen even more.

This is the only show that I leave on for the entire 4 hours without channel surfing. Easily my favorite show right now.

Excellent show. Both guys seem to get it and understand what listeners want to hear. Keep it up, fellas...

The last 10 minutes of the show is a perfect example of why the show succeeds.

The Waddle bit of mocking the Jim McMahon MVP treatment and Silvy on the Cub's Cat.

Laugh out loud hilarity. Congrats guys, keep the train a rolling.

I can't say I'm surprised that "Waddle & Silvy" got really good ratings, even before they expanded their show an extra hour to 1p recently. Those guys have a fun show, 10 times better than the one down the dial... I was cracking up earlier this morning when the guys were talking about an Ed Sherman blog at chicagobusiness.com about the jingle for Luna Carpets whenever the Cubs hit a double at Wrigley Field, and I thought "Silvy" was going to grab Mac's old pistol.

I thought Silvy was going to grab Mac's old pistol if he heard that "773-202-LUNA" jingle again...

Well, it would suck for mac if indeed he will have to go head to head against one of the more popular sports talk radio shows, it would be quite a challenge to take a big chunk of the listeners away from the silvy and waddle show, but it would also suck for those who really enjoy waddle and silvy and enjoyed mjh

Crosscheck, do you envision Mac replacing "Hampton & Holmes" along with "Murph" middays? I don't...I think SCORE management moves "Boers & Bernstein" back to middays to accommodate Mac where he belongs in afternoon drive, if they sign him...

If mac does get a job, I don't think it would be for a two hour time-slot. And i think Murph and Hampton & Holmes would be more movable/replaceable than B&B, but that's just my opinion. Despite being beaten in that last ratings, I still think that B&B does well enough for its time slot.

If Mac signs on at the SCORE, he's not doing morning drive or middays...

I think it would take a lot of balls to go into a job interview and say that your not going to work mornings or midday's, especially after being let go. I hope he does afternoon drive, but I'm not expecting it...

If Mac signs on at 670 AM, he'll be doing afternoon drive, and if it means pulling the plug on "Hampton & Holmes", reassigning "Murph" and shifting "Boers & Bernstein" back to middays, so be it.

This is exactly what I think is going to happen but with Drinky or Goff getting on one of the big shows as a partner.

yeah...B&B go up against Silvy and Waddle. I think this is a realistic scenario (btw: I know as much as everyone else does).

however, you completely elliminate the possiblilty of Mac going to another station.
that could still happen....however, I believe we all agree that Mac is an afternoon host, or that's where WE prefer him anyway.

Silvy got great news today and celebrated by sitting at Orland Park Jewel on 159th st today shilling Planters Big Nut Bars. I was about 10 mins away from there when I heard him on the radio today but I figured I didnt want to be "That guy" that just goes up there to see Silvy. And than i get home and I checked facebook and someone already had a picture up with Silvy proudly holding a box of big nut bars. Hilarious.

No wonder when I called the Jewel in Orland Park and asked what time Marc will be there, nobody had any clue.

Not sure what the timing is for those numbers, but did a new one come out for the new CJH show after Mac was ousted out? Just curious how those guys are doing.....

Yep, because if I wanted to find ratings for CJH, I'd check the Silvaddle section

Is that all that's in Grand Rapids? Just those two guys? I think your post is a little thin buddy. Try a little harder next time.

Kevin Matthews was thisclose to signing an extension at the former WCKG in 2004 before CBS Radio pulled the plug on "FM Talk" at 105.9 in favor of a "Fresh" format that hasn't been much better in the Arbitrons since it debuted over a year ago. Anyway, all indications were that Kev was going to sign an extension, but bosses there wanted to cut Kev's salary and offer him only a two-year deal to stay on the air there. That didn't sit well with Kev, who left the station after that. While I miss Kev, Jimmy Shorts, Devon, Eddie and the rest of the many characters that kept Matthews on the air for about 2 decades here, he's actually doing very well in Grand Rapids, MI where his radio career started in 1978. Even though he's been fighting I believe MS, he's quite the radio bigshot up there these days. He still hosts a morning drive show at WLAV-FM, and he's one of the bigshots for stations owned by the former ABC Radio, Citadel Media, to this day. You might say he is Simonson's boss...
