I thought this thread was going to be about White Sox World Series baseball.

With all due respect to Dan Patrick, I wish 670 AM could revive the late night shift LIVE after White Sox baseball. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, Dan's show is better LIVE than waiting some 13 hours on tape delay. There are guys on The SCORE bench, namely Matt Abbatacola, Jason Goff, and Brian "The Whipping Boy" Paruch, who I think would love to talk Chicago sports with fans after prime time Sox games once Chris Rongey concludes his own postgame show along the Chicago White Sox Radio Network. Last night for instance, rather than stay live & local talking about the Bulls' heartbreaking loss to the Celtics in Game 5, the Ranger went right to Dan's show, complete with an interview with Celtics'/WEEI SportsRadio analyst Cedric Maxwell talking about Game 5... Hello McFly?!  The game was already played! :x

Does it need to be more complicated that that?

AF3, it shouldn't be that hard. Given the fragile state of radio, and continuing layoffs such as the latest cuts by ClearChannel yesterday, less is more.

I happen to like "Mully & Hanley", AF3, but little did SCORE management know how badly it really weakened other parts of the weekday lineup. Right now, the 10a-2p shift is UNLISTENABLE JUNK, and SCORE management doesn't seem like it wants to listen to fans like you & me on how to become the most popular sports talk radio station in Chicago again. "Hampton & Holmes" is a train wreck, "Murph's" voice is like hearing nails through a chalkboard, and "Boers & Bernstein" haven't been the afternoon hit WSCR 670 was hoping for when they moved it 2 years ago. Besides, even though they're owned by CBS Radio these days, they sure as hell don't spend the company's money to attract better talent to host local sports talk on the station! Ozzie Guillen, Jr.? "Stuttering" Dan Hampton? You've got to be kidding me!

CBS has a lot LESS money than before. They have a lot of financial trouble and aren't about to spend big bucks for a staton that has a 1.7 overall rating.
Mac isn't going to get big money from them, not even close to what that fool north turned down, probably not even close to what ESPN was paying him. Money won't solve the problem with the talent pool they have. I think B&B will be in for a big shock at contract time too. If money isn't coming in, it sure isn't going to be paid out.

DP is terrible. He is the the Anderson Cooper of sports radio. Never heard so much fluff and gossip garbage in my life. To be fair he is OK during football season because of the NBC and SI pipelines and Mojo is entertaining.

They need to can the replay of DP. Listen over the internets or podcast. Stick with local talent. It is staggering the amount of stations DP has become syndicated on, meaning deutsch banks or not, a lot of local talk radio hosts are out of jobs.

Some 200 radio stations now carry "The Dan Patrick Show" and his "Above the Noise" commentary Dan provides via Jim DeCastro's Chicago-based Content Factory. If it means anything, WSCR encourages fans to listen to Dan's interviews ANYTIME on demand at 670thescore.com, long before Dan's show airs in its entirety. It's kinda like listening to Jim Rome, whose own Los Angeles-based sports talk show was tape delayed for a while on ESPN Radio 1000 locally after so many fans complained to the station's comment line. The thing is, Premiere Radio Networks, which is Rome's syndicator & a unit of radio giant ClearChannel, actually made $$$$ for WMVP before it completely left the schedule.

Les, apologize for any negative vibes hurled at you through asssociation with Ernie B or Cap Boso. I meant to suggest that the having guests who were once 'names' in chicago sports but have disappeared might be interesting.

I think you are a pro and would add much to SCR.

after this latest ratings book, I think the Score needs some help. None of their three major shows can beat ESPN 1000:

Mike & Mike beats Mully & Hanley

Silvy & Waddle beats Mac & Meat

The Saloon beats B&B

It's just sad, the state of affairs at the Score.

I found out about this site recently. I listen to the Score on my way home and i cannot stand LOHO. There is no Laurence Holmes show index in this board so i guess he doesnt even register with the audience. I try to give him a chance cause i Love sports and i want to hear what happened during the day but when i hear how he treats his callers it makes me change the station to PWR 92.

Goose, if you have a problem with Laurence Holmes, and a lot of people on this message board can't stand him either, there's a place to vent. It's the one marked "WSCR, ESPN, WGN, WBBM, Comcast..."Click on that and vent how much you can't stand The SCORE's evening host on nights the White Sox don't play...

Thanks, Shark

BTW do you realy believe that Wscr/Espn really look at this board? I guess if were talking about them after we listen to their shows isnt that all that really matters to the big wigs.
