I know there are not a lot of Dylan fans out here but I picked this up
last week and thought I would at least comment on it. Bob has put
out some very strong work over the last decade or so and the critics
have been kind to his work. This new album doesn't stack up to the
previous 3 in my opinion. I still need to give it a few more spins but
so far there are only 3 or 4 strong songs and the rest are kind of
throwaways. The sound is different and there is a lot of accordion
in it, giving it kind of a New Orleans, bluesy type feel. I like it for
the most part. Bob's voice is pretty rough on a lot of tracks but
when he wants to tone it down for a ballad he is able to pull it off.
His best track in my opinion is I Feel A Change Comin' On and worthy
of radio play I think. Apparently they are using another song to promote
the HBO series True Blood as well. There seems to be mixed reviews
on this album. I would probably give it 2.5 stars out of 4. Just curious
if anyone else has heard this one.

"Lay lady lay" and that's where it stops for me, but I'm an old fuddy duddy so what do I know.

Modern Times was pretty good. I have especially enjoyed the
Bootleg Series discs. Great live and unreleased stuff. Was tempted
to get tickets to see him up at Summerfest but it isn't going to work
out. Not only that but I was a bit concerned I would really be let down
by his current live act. I hear he has good nights and bad but that his
band is excellent.
