They couldn't deal with Buff, he beat their ass (except for the bad penalty in the 3rd). He did alot to win this series.

I am very much on the periphery when it comes to hockey...but I always know how the Hawks are doing, good or bad. I realize the youth & talent this team has and I am trying to muscle on to the bandwagon a little more.

But...."they aint won nothin yet". This a a hell of a lot further than they've been in years...and frankly, for me, they have raised expectation to the Stanley Cup level. Go Hawks.

I don't think this section was for sports teams mac, I'm pretty sure that it's for actual people who have died, but I could be wrong.

I couldn't agree more. What the hell does John McDonough have to do with this team?!? Did he draft Toews, Kane, Versteeg or Barker? Did he sign Havlat, Campbell and Khabibulin? Did he trade for Sharp or Ladd? Did he develop Keith, Seabrook or Bolland? Why the hell is he getting ANY credit for what is going on with this team??

That, as W_Z has pointed out, Mac was the driver of a show that had the "hockey horn" used to cut them off when they talked too much about hockey.

You're the same guy that wrote about me when I did have the fire...

He had given Mac some free tickets for game 6. Praise be to McDonough indeed. The freebie brag train rolls on. TOOT!

I honestly don't know too much about Hawks Hockey Biz...but doesn't McDonough get credit for Scotty Bowman,...and firing savard and bringing in Quenneville? Everyone talked about how pissed Talon looked at the press conference and said it was not his decision to fire Savared...and he was being forced to do so. I'm not argueing the point as much as I am asking the question(s) I guess.

I'm a casual observer as well and those are valid points. It just struck me as odd to praise McDonough for the Hawks on-ice success but there may have been some ulterior motives to that comment.

I did post this in the wrong section. An unpaid suspension and public apology to Harry Teinowitz are in order.

But... what the hell did McDonough do, you ask? Two things come to mind.

* He fired favorite son Denis Savard and replaced him with a much more effective head coach in Joel Quennville. Pissed as I was in October, it was the best thing that happened to the Blackhawks this year. They finished with 104 points and are going to the Western Conference Finals.

* He changed the culture. Forget about the obvious solutions, like putting the damn games on television. Any of us in John's office at the United Center would have made that decision. His marketing expertise -- the Winter Classic, getting Pat Foley back, the successful inaugural fan convention, bringing back the legends, the solid commercials, etc. -- has made Hawks' games THE EVENT in town. They led the league in attendance this year after being 19th of 30 the previous year.

Darkside, you're in the dark. In the e-mail I sent Big Chief Blackhawk, I gave my credit card info and told him to run it for the tickets. Not sure until I get the statement whether he comped me. Please don't lop me in with some of the parasites in my business who EXPECT the red carpet every time they attend a game or walk in a restaurant. I write checks for White Sox tickets all the time and, because I can, do so joyfully. When I get comped for golf, I gladly pay $50 for a dozen Titleist ProVIs that I can get for half that at a sporting goods store. Why? To give back. And I tip everybody. Damn, Mac you're right. I guess I should have just emailed McDonough my credit card number and I'm sure I could have scored four awesome seats in the theatre boxes. :thumright:

I am beyond insulted right now...first of all my posts are not 4 page term papers, second of all, I do not pretend that I know everything there is, and finally my spelling is horrible...

Yeah, that's a valid point. I'll try to stop doing that from now on to avoid confusion.
