I couldn't decide whether to put this in Movies & Tv or Music, so I flipped a coin. In the same vein as Ugeth's Friday Boredom Thread, I found myself extremely bored today at work (not much going on during finals week) and thought about something I noticed while listening to songs come on the radio while driving to work.

What are your top five songs from a movie not produced for the movie, but forever linked to that movie in your mind when you hear it. In other words, a song where the movie associated with it automatically pops in your head.

Mine are:

5. "Don't You Forget About Me" - Breakfast Club
4. "Old Time Rock 'N Roll"- Risky Business
3. "The End"- Apocalypse Now
2. "Running on Empty"- Forrest Gump
1. "Layla"- Goodfellas

Although it's probably the gayest movie of all time, that Take My Breath Away song during that sex scene in Top Gun would probably be associated right away by anyone who saw that movie.

Here's the winner. Stand By Me in the movie Stand By Me. How the hell did I not think of that right away.

Just remembered another one-

"Tiny Dancer"- Almost Famous

I love that scene for some reason.

Don't let the Sun go Down on Me.....Lost Boys

Now I think this song was a better fit in this movie than the one it was originally written for:

Heros...Wallflower from Replacements

I would've picked that one. Very nice.

Others:
Kenny Rogers - "Just checked in to see what condition my condition was in" from The Big Lebowski
Dick Dale - "Misirlou" from Pulp Fiction
"Damn It Feels Good 2 Be A Gangsta" from Office Space

Great song, great movie. Another good one from The Big Lebowski would
have to be The Man in Me by Bob Dylan. I have to dig up my copy of this
DVD and watch this movie again.

Chaspoppcap, "Office Space" was the first live action movie from Mike Judge, the guy who created, executive produced & voiced "Beavis & Butt-Head", the neighbor on that MTV show, and Hank Hill from "King of the Hill". I know you're happy for me, but I have "Office Space" on DVD. While we get plenty of Jennifer Aniston & Ron Livingston, Chicago's own Gary Cole plays the boss from hell at the fictional Initech Corporation who wants Livingston's frustrated character to come into work Saturday...Good movie! :D

LA Woman- The Doors movie

I know, technically you could say that it was written for the movie 21 years before it's release. Morrison must've been psychic as he did say "Let's go make a movie...black & white."

Every time I hear that song, I can't help but think of Val Kilmer portraying Morrison recording LA Woman on a toilet in the studio.
