Wow - checking the Feder archives - the Bear and the Bull trainwreck with Shakey lasted four months. Didn't seem that long to me.

A simpler time. I still recall driving through Palatine on the way home, and the station would just cut out.

They had Sinatra with "It's my kind of town," the SCR sign-off, and the if Murphy wasn't on, Mac and Boers would hit the whip button a handful of times before the transmitter was shut off. Then WBAP would start rolling in.

820's now a much better signal. Align the antennae right, and things happen. (Although I'm sure it's also moved to different towers since then.)

Murph would end his show with The Who singing Mobile (forgive the mistake if there is one, I am not a music guy). That would cut to the announcer signing off with Sinatra. If it was a very early cut off and HFC were the end of the day, they'd usually play something a clip like Ditka's "Get your mouth shut".

This sounds like as good a place as any to post this story. Right out of college I ended up working at White Deer Run golf course up in Vernon Hills. We had to do set up for the various golf scrambles and outings and what not and we would line all of the carts up in a certain order and then put names on it so people knew what groups they were in and then they could roll out in a fairly controlled manner towards the correct hole they were starting on.

Anyways we would take the keys out of the carts so people didnt take them early and screw up the set up. Tom Shaer was involved in one of these scrambles and he wanted to go hit some balls at the range which was probably 1000 yards away from the clubhouse. Well he didn't want to take the time to walk it and there were employees shuttling people back and forth to the range but he didn't want to wait for one of these carts or ride with the common riff raff.

So he threw a shitfit about how he needed the keys to his golf cart now. And he actually said to me....DONT YOU KNOW WHO I AM!!!!!.....and I actually did know who he was but I mean cmon its Tom Shaer so just to piss him off I was like yeah i have no clue. He was livid at this point and ended up going to talk to one of the managers. They gave him the keys or whatever but at the end of the day had he asked me nicely I would have helped him out but since he was a raging self important rectum then he got put on the pay no mind list. Tom Shaer is a douche.
would you walk ten football fields to hit a bucket of balls???? i think not ,you snot nose punk you were the ass wipe .do your job that paid you $ 4.50 an hour and quit your bitching and give him a ride

Wow I didnt know Tom Shaer's boyfriend posted here
