If you are a fan of TV shows such as "Samantha Who?" with Christina Applegate, "My Name is Earl" with Jason Lee & Jaime Pressly, "Deal or No Deal" with Howie Mandel & the hottest 26 briefcase-holding models on TV, "Medium", "Without a Trace" and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles", this is not the news you want to read. The broadcast networks have announced some surprising cancellations as the likes of FOX, NBC, ABC, CBS & the CW all announce their new fall TV schedules this week in New York. Two of the cancelled shows, "Medium" will resurface on CBS Friday nights, while "Earl" is said to be in talks with FOX about possibly resurfacing there sometime in midseason.

City, it's simply called "Glee", and FOX has it penciled in I believe after Cat Deeley and the "So You Think You Can Dance" results show Wednesday nights this fall. Last night was a sneak preview, but I was more interested in the Blackhawks/Red Wings and whether the White Sox could FINALLY find an offense vs. the just as awful Twins. By the way, in the promo for "Glee", I heard that puss song that got stuck in all our heads during the Southsiders' 2005 World Series title run...You know the one, circa 1981 by Journey...

I love 'Earl' whenever Kharma is mentioned in my vicinity I mention how Carson Daly taught me about that...it's a good test to see who has watched the show.

I mentioned at the start of this post that "My Name is Earl" is reportedly in talks with FOX about possibly resurfacing there in the wake of their surprise cancellation by NBC. I do know this much for sure..."Earl" will soon be available in syndicated reruns for those who missed it from the beginning.

SHARK -
I am sorry to have to correct you, but My Name is Earl
is already in syndicated reruns. The 30-minute sitcom
featuring Jason Lee, the Emmy Award winning Jamie
Pressly, Ethan Supplee, Nadine Velasquez and Eddie Steeples
can be seen every Monday evening from 9 to 10 p.m. Central time
(that is 10 to 11, Eastern time) on WTBS. WTBS is available on
Comcast, Direct TV, Dish Network and most other broadcast systems.

Thumbs down to me, but thumbs down to you as well, Steve...I forgot TBS showing off-network reruns of prime time shows such as "Earl" and "The Office" during the week. Unfortunately, Steve gets a thumbs down because TBS hasn't been calling itself WTBS or the "SuperStation" for many, many years. TBS simply calls itself "Very Funny"...Anyway, what I meant when I said "Earl" will soon be available in syndicated reruns, is that the show's distributor, Twentieth Television, has cut a deal with FOX-owned stations in Chicago, New York & Los Angeles, and will be rerun on those and other stations across America this fall.

Look, TBS hasn't called itself WTBS in over 15 years...Besides, the folks at AOL/TimeWarner, which now owns the network, rebranded the network as "Very Funny" a few years ago much like they did TNT as "We Know Drama", Headline News as simply HLN, and CourtTV as truTV, DIRECTV 246, as more of a "reality" channel...

Here is a really good page I saw that highlights all cancellations for the networks and shows that are on the chopping block.

Douchebag, I've seen it, and Michael Ausiello's more on top of this than anyone...The idea behind my post was to highlight the notable veteran shows that have been on the air for quite sometime surprisingly cancelled by their respective networks.

Button 48.... the guy who created it was in choir with me in HS. Couldn't DVR due to Hawks and the wife DVRing Dancing With Your Penis Out (Damn you CrapCast), but I've heard that I will find it much funnier than the general public.

and damn right he's buying the beer at our 20 year!

Okay, Wikipedia breath, hang me for including a "W." I know it's "TBS - Very Funny," it's just that I am an old fart and tend to live in the past. That said, you blew it on the syndication issue and my bad doesn't come anywhere close to your bad. Besides, the least you could do was give me some kudos for the excellent SHARK imitation. You know that it is the sincerest form of flattery.

Fans of "My Name is Earl" are so bummed by the news of NBC's surprise cancellation that they've started a petition on Twitter in hopes of changing "The Peacock's" mind. They're hoping to follow in the footsteps of another NBC show that was on the bubble, "Chuck", that did get renewed for another season. "Earl" fans have created a petition on the microblogging site called "Twitition", according to the Tribune's RedEye. It's not unprecedented for viewers to petition a show's cancellation and then get it back. In the '80s, the cop show "Cagney & Lacey" got cancelled by CBS, but a successful letter writing campaign changed the network's mind and the show got a new lease on life. A couple years ago, CBS received peanuts from viewers protesting the cancellation of another show "Jericho", but it didn't last beyond one more year...

I wasn't happy to see Prison Break go. The show had gotten stale a little I guess, but the ending to the series was a little shocking. Apparently though, there is already a 2 Disc DVD planned for release.

Chris, a lot of shows, past & present, are now available on DVD...It's my understanding that "Prison Break" was originally filmed I believe out in Joliet for season #1, but the remainder of the series' run was shot on location in the Dallas MetroPlex. I know many fans were less than thrilled to see SciFi's version of "Battlestar Galactica" leave the air after 5 seasons, even though some felt they could've done another season or two...

My bad, I wasn't entirely clear with my post. The show ended with a flash forward 4 years. They are releasing a 2 DVD set to fill in that 4 years to explain whhaaa happen.
