Phil twitters:WSCR choking on ads for Dan McNeil's return. Especially during White-DANNY MAC BACK ON THE SCORE JUNE 15-Sox games. Sigh

Don't quite know what he means, maybe too much advertising?
Something they never did for North!

More from Phil:
McNeil's a good hire. But WSCR is hyping it every-DANNY MAC BACK ON THE SCORE JUNE 15-few minutes. Which is-MAC'S BACK NEXT WEEK-annoying

Come on RFDC, even an ALSer like you has to admit that the constant barrage of "Mac is Back" ads are overkill.

Why shouldn't they hype the event?

No I didn't. I guess I just do not understand why they shouldn't hype this thing? But to each their own I guess.

It is reaching "Steve Stone Score Baseball Expert" levels. Remember that?

There will still be peeps saying where's Hamp/Holmes/Murph?

And I didn't know Mac was back...

Not that big of an event. They hired an out of work windbag. BFD. He'll still lose the ratings game.

670 The SCORE has been hyping Dan McNeil's return since he officially signed the deal last Wednesday during "Boers & Bernstein", and it's not just during "B & B" and during White Sox baseball that they're hyping Mac's return to WSCR. They're playing the same Terry Boers, Dan Bernstein, Mac and even the big, burly voiceover guy's promos every 5 minutes or so during the day, except for during "Hampton & Holmes" and "Murph". Turn on the "Dan Patrick Show", turn on the folks from Sporting News Radio, even check out the Web site at 670thescore.com. It's not nearly as bad as whenever the SCORE update guys kept telling us "You're listening to the home of the Chicago White Sox with Ed Farmer & Steve Stone" at the end of every single update 2 months or so into the season. We get it already! Knock it off!

They would be foolish not to publicize it as much as they possibly could.

Its terrible overkill. And Mac himself said so on Thursday afternoon.

I'm guessing there's a point of diminishing returns when you're publicizing something on your own station. Isn't the point of advertising to get people who aren't already consuming your product to do so?

...which is accomplished by informing those people who only listen for 15 minutes. Like Ron Gleason said "the audience changes every ___ minutes".

that would require spending money from a station sells out more than half its existence to the likes of Sporting News Radio and Wayne Allen Root

one inexpensive move would be to immediately change the Mully/Hanley sign behind home plate at sox games...do you think Mitch will pay the $500 or so bucks to update the sign

Right, the crux of the problem is that management undercuts its investment by refusing to support it properly.

yous guys fail to realize that 99% of people do not consume sportsradio as much as we do. i still have friends asking me what McNeil is going to do. happened three times this weekend.

it is no different than an FM station playing the same 4 minute song every hour.

I doubt if those 3 people will be regular listners to Danny Mac!

off topic- WTF is the romance with Twitter?? Don't get it , don't want to get it and seems like biggest waste of money since the Pet Rock. I could give a fuck that Shaq is getting a double, Double with cheese at an In and Out Burger in El Segundo or James Woods is filling the wholes in his face with BONDO. Facebook has a bit of a purpose but what does Twiiter really bring to the table?

Im sick of hearing about it and it seems to be a short lived fad as Tech jerkoffs are out of control with this crap.
