I just hope that Meatpants played HS football.

Oh, the stories they could tell.

There's that Mac feistyness that has been missing!

He's back Chicago!!

I think you guys are giving Meatpants a bit of a rough ride. Let's not forget that Jurko and Harry weren't exactly household names when Dan brought them in on his show at WMVP - moment of silence - thank you.

I think after 20 years of sports yakking it would be unwise to tell Mac how to run a radio show. I'd bet on his behalf 9 times out of 10 when it comes to radio chemistry and charisma.

Gloopy - as antagonistic as you are, I have to admit I like the cut of your jib. You don't like Mac - I get it, that's cool.

Some of the things you say are pretty damn funny though...

Midge, You sound like you want a show where the hosts disagree or go head to head in debates. It's totally your style but do you like Waddle and Silvy? They don't disagree often but I still think they put on a good show.

However, this love is a bit over the top. Some of you have quite a boner for McNeil, so much so, I'm waiting for his picture to show up in the Sports Babe section.

Yes, but I've never found Jurko or Harry particularly compelling hosts. To his credit, Mac found a way to make MJH work--for awhile--but he succeeded in spite of his co-hosts, not because of them. And while I don't think Spiegel will be a Tiny-sized albatross, I simply haven't been entertained by him in the past. That said, I am looking forward to the new show. MJH grew stale a long time ago, and Mac clearly needed a new enterprise to revitalize himself. Let's hope he will bring his "A" game to the Score's airwaves. It was missing long before he departed from AM 1000.

there were a couple that were close, but no rib bruisers to speak of... :)
the AA's are REALLY nice as it is unusual to watch a baseball game with nobody in front of you with the exception of the athletes, but I almost liked the row 4 seats better.
I felt I could "see" more.

thanks again, Slappy...as it was a Whitesox winner.

I'm looking forward to 6/15 at 9, too, but let's please have a bare minimum of parodies. Let's try one a year. There were way too many parodies on MJH, making something that should have been a surprise into a tired-ass routine, and the sad singing at every reference remotely related to some old-ass pop tune grew annoying. It sounded like cable-access radio.

Thanks Mac, for the unsolicited love. I'll blow you later, or maybe I'll have Bernsy do it.

I'll be right here for you, boardies, to get to know and interact with.

I'm a baseball guy, hardcore, a lifer. More on that later, and you'll hear it front and center week 1...but there's a question in another thread about how our show will cover the NBA, something we all know Mac can live without, and often does.

I love the NBA. I know the NBA. I was at the Score for the entire 2nd 3-peat, and saw Jordan playoff games from the press level, put microphones in Scottie's face. I co-wrote and sang half of "The Boy from Hertzgovinia," (with Shakey) about Kukoc and his relationship with Phil.

I could have told you, and did tell some, that the advantages Orlando had against Cleveland would not be there against the Lakers. Rashard Lewis and Turkoglu will be defended by long, tall wings like Ariza, Odom, and Kobe...something Mike Brown had no match for. Mike Brown is over-matched by everybody, but we'll talk about that as LeBron gets ready to bail on him next year.

Speaking of over-matched, I'll have piles of Del Negro thoughts when we get there.

I love college buckets, and endlessly enjoy following guys I knew in college along their NBA career; like seeing Eric Piatkowski as a Bull, remembering his days at Nebraska. I've played NBA fantasy hoops for 2 seasons, and love it...maybe we'll do a league for the show. We'll try, perhaps unsuccessfully, to get Mac in it.

I can go 7 deep on Phi Slamma Jamma. Akeem, Drexler, Michael Young, Larry Michaux (Mr. Mean), Andra Franklin, Reid Gettys, and Benny Anders, instant offense off the bench. That was my squad.

My first college radio show, at Emerson in Boston, included a segment on how good Illinois hoops was going to be, with incoming freshman sensation Marcus Liberty.

Me and Mac are paired for a reason, peeps. I love a lot of what he doesn't.

I am Baseball boy, first and foremost, and hoops maven 2nd. The rest of me will unfold, like Bill Wennington's 5-foot legs when he hopped off the bench to relieve Joe Klein.

I didn't say nothin!

Oh no doubt, there are a lot of miserable bastards here.

But Meat should have known that already. He signed up for this place in 2007, and this happened in 2009. Don't say you are going to be here interacting with the fans of your show and then almost immediately become a pussy and leave.

Meat just said that he is "on vacation next week...& then who knows after that". So his deal expires the end of July & he doesn't have new paper. Sounds like we may get our wish.

A few days ago someone on the Larz list mentioned that Jurkos contract is also up at the end of July.
Can anyone confirm that?
Could we be so lucky to have Jurko replace Spiegel?

Jurko and just Mac? Eh. Needs a third wheel. It should be someone who isn't a Mac guy or else we are back to a different version of the current show. No more obsequious toadies who owe their careers to the Mackiefish.

Jurko would be a HUGE upgrade from Candypants. Mac & Jurko would be a much better show than Mac & Spiegel. Finfer would be good as a 3rd.
