Tim, how pissed would you be if you learned Pappy's and Bebe's checks didn't bounce?

I'm quite sure that they didn't.

Lets just not blame Hernandez, remember when North did his short lived internet gig he claimed how he is revolutionizing radio by doing a web show AND how NOBODY's done it before (LOL IN 2008!)!!!

Dude, not cool. Guy just lost his job. What about the NextStep folks who will be fired when the webio's creditors start seizing assets?

It all goes back to North.
If you believed in this piece of shit, then your struck.
I dont want nobody to lose their job, but If that morons name ever came up in convo's I would completely say no fucking way, find a different job, or have a back up plan once the next Nort failure came.

If you didnt look at Norts track record of complete failure, then the onus is on you.

+1. And for Weber, too. They were just trying to further their careers.

So, in this economy, someone is supposed to just quit b/c their boss is trying a new venture? How many of these people at NextStep had even heard of Mike North?

Mike North out as exec at Webio; still on air
Allegations of bounced checks lead to dispute; simulcasts to continue
By Phil Rosenthal | Tribune reporter
June 13, 2009
Amid allegations that Chicago Sports Webio has been bouncing checks in recent days, Spectrum Entertainment Chief Executive David Hernandez on Friday fired host Mike North as senior vice president of the sports talk Web site he helped found last year.

A simulcast of North's Comcast SportsNet Chicago program, "Monsters in the Morning," will continue to be heard on the Web site, according to North, who said late Friday he hopes to wrest back control of the Web site from Hernandez.

Efforts to reach Hernandez -- whose NextStep Medical Staffing has been title sponsor of the "Monsters" television show -- for comment were unsuccessful.

Other members of the launch team Hernandez fired Friday were North's wife, Bebe, as chief operating officer and Jeff Schwartz as general sales manager.

CSN Chicago's Web site, for a time Friday, did not list "Monsters" on its schedule for next week. But the program later returned to the listings, and a spokesman had no explanation for the temporary absence but said the show would run as scheduled.

North said when he learned checks were bouncing, he, his wife and Schwartz tried to reach Hernandez for an explanation.

"He wouldn't return our e-mails. We tried talking to him," North said. "Right now the plan is to figure out what's going on."

Hernandez has raised eyebrows with his considerable spending for the start-up. Among the more notable expenses were paying for talent such as veteran host Chet Coppock and former boxer Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini and a heavy marketing campaign. He also invested heavily to outdo established media rivals in areas such as travel for staff to cover the Stanley Cup playoffs.

But a Crain's Chicago Business blog earlier this week quoted Hernandez as talking about expansion into broadcast radio and insisting the Web site already was making money.

"I know what my overhead expenses vs. revenues are," Hernandez told Crain's. "We're absolutely in a profit."

LMAO! It sounds like Professional Wrestling. How much more of a goofball can North make of himself. wrest back control, classic idiot north. lol!

Has anybody volunteered to be RodeoVann's personal driver this weekend? He's going to need one. Spaulding, I'm with you... sad is the best word. I'm eager to hear more and I will. We'll have the skinny on this Monday.

Have you ever had a full-time job in a bad economy? Any chance of keeping job—even a slim one—is better than the 100% chance of losing it by quitting. And if you've got kids and need health insurance, you should bail anyway? How old are you?

Tough situation for those who weren't driving the bus here but everyone that got on had to know the risks were high.

Maybe they were stupid, maybe they were duped, I don't know but most of the people who were working on this weren't bad people. I wanted to see some of them succeed. I think it's really shitty for some of you to be happy about this or in some way feeling that they deserved this. They have to be worried and scared now.

I really hope they land on their feet. I believe most of them have the talent to do so.

Congratulations to those of you being asshats, there is a whole new group of people that don't like North very much, you have more company.

You're right, Spaulding. I said I feel bad for Tim and Weber. All of them for the most part. I do think vets like Jesse, George and Chet should have been smarter. If, indeed, they did quit to go to this.

For some this was no loss cuz they had to go somewhere. Might as well give this a shot for as long as it can last.

Got to feel bad for a guy like Offman. I don't know if I'm right, but he left the score to join webio right? Not even tried to negotiate a contract? or was he let go?

Even if some of these people were let go, I know they probably leapt at the first opportunity and joined webio since they knew it was a paycheck, especially in this economy. Now this. What a CRUEL JOKE! I agree with some of the other posts, you know North/Spaceball/bebe knew that checks would bounce, and I'm sure North setup Hernandez with all his boasting, just like he had 3 radio deals when negotiating with WSCR . So these guys who were let go could have gone after some legit radio work, but got conned in my this outfit and now they're paying for it.

I'm sure they knew getting in with North was a huge risk, and yes, they are to blame too, but when you lose your 'real' job and see the next thing out there to put food on the table for your family, you're going to take it. Too bad these people were fucked over by this perpetual con-man.

I don't see the point of kicking somebody while they are down. At least help them up, then kick them.

I dont think anyone is kicking them down,. I think people are just saying, especially on this board, I TOLD YOU SO ABOUT NORTH. I'm sure these people knew what they were getting into with North, but it was the next gig, it was a paycheck (or so they thought), and it was quick work, so they took it.

REMEMBER : North's check didnt bounce and the others did. That's all you got to know.

I can't imagine anyone writing checks they know will bounce. When you do that you cross the line into felony fraud and check kiting and jailable offenses, etc. I'd just call it a day, shut 'er down, and admit my failure before cutting that bad check. Someone's in some trouble here. This is bigger than the webio going down.
