Well, for his friends, including Hood and Coppock.

FBI and SEC are after NextStep/Hernandez, but wants to talk to North. And probably other principals in Hernandez' companies.

That is some of the funniest shit I have ever read!

But Hernandez claims he was told by Comcast officials that North would be pulled from the program.

"Comcast knows we are in a partnership that's locked in legally until July 12," Hernandez said. "If Mike was no longer [on the show], the partnership will continue. If he is there, that will be a problem."

Well, kudos for that, but I hope he took care of the webby, freddy, bocks and others there because this was pappys guy, it imploded, so he should be taking care of everyone not just the guys who might have a contract.

I was wondering if he was going to pay these guys out of his own pocket. I think he definitely should have. Mr. Street-Smart got them into this mess with ths scumbag.

If North is paying some of the on-air talent out of his own pocket, and he's not responsible for any of the funny business going on, good for him, but, saying that, how does Webio continue at this point? Hernandez is being investigated by the FBI, there are bounced checks all over the place, and any chance at building up a respectful list of advertising is probably gone to hell after all this.

I have no idea if North is deserving of blame here, but it would appear that he's going to be out soon at Comcast, and Webio soon to be done itself.

What a disaster.

At whose request/volition?

A problem with whom? Comcast or Hernandez?

I may be wrong, but I believe Chet and Hood weren't let go by ESPN prior to their coming over. So there may have been some personal guarantees expressed. Anyway, I see the word "including", which infers to me that Fred and Webby were helped out as well.

What I am thinking about this is.....is pappy smart enough to be involved with whatever DH is up to? No! Is pappy dumb enough to be set-up to look involved by DH? Yes! Hope pappy doesnt get hung up in this, I am being sincere, but hopefully this is a wake up call for pappy to bring someone in who can help him avoid these type of things, because right now, he has hurt his career more in 2 days then he did in those 5 years of radio train wreck.

You would think that with his background Spaceball would have served that role and smelled a rat but I guess not.

It was a financial scam from the beginning and everyone knew it.

Spaceball was the sales manager and he knew they didn't sell shit, so why would he be surprised? He knew the money being paid out it salaries and no money was coming in, they all did.

"That happens once a week in Chicago," Hernandez said. "I welcome the federal government investigation and will work with them. . . . We know where it is going to lead."

North dismissed as nonsense Hernandez's take on the warrant.

"The guy is delusional," North said.

North's attorney, Steve Harris, said federal investigators told him North is not "a suspect or a target" of their investigation. The FBI has also asked to question North later this week.

On Friday night, North invited his Chicago Sports Webio co-workers -- including veteran sportscaster Chet Coppock and midday host Jonathan Hood -- to his house, where he gave them checks from his personal bank account to help make up for their lost wages.

"They're all great friends of mine," he said. "We gave them money so they can survive right now despite this [guy]."

Ok, why is North paying these guys out of pocket? It sounds to me like he knows he's in deep shit, and is trying to cover his tracks. So they can survive my ass. The fucker only cares about himself, nobody else. this is just some stunt which he probably thinks in his idiotic way that it'll show the feds and the public how much of a caring guy he is. It's like that age old agrument where if someone robbed a bank, gave the money back, and then the cops catch him and book him on robbery, the thief says 'but I gave the money back', he's still a thief.

Check out some of the comments on that suntimes page, hilarious :

I had the unfortunate mis-pleasure of having North as a passenger in my limo several years ago. And I have to agree, he is a real a**hole ! He was extremely rude and vulgar, telling the stupidest jokes and then expecting me to drive directly to his house while he slept and never told me where he lived. I got on the tollroad, asked him where he lived, he replied he'd tell me where to go. Then he went to sleep and I didn't bother to wake him until we hit the Indiana border. Of course we were WAY past his home in Park Ridge by then (hehe). Needless to say, I blew my tip, but I got a great feeling when he got so upset and had to "ride along" for an extra 45 minutes to get back to his home simply because he refused to give me an address when we first started!

I wish "jag bag" could be expunged from the English language.

So where was this Steve Harris when North was investing his and several other people's and families' futures with FBI target David Hernandez? Look over any documents or statements or check anything out, Steve? When did you come on the scene? Are you a partner of David Spada?

Maybe Steve Harris is an attorney by name, like BeBe was CFO.

And the Tribune's take on it:

FBI searches office of Chicago Sports Webio boss

The Federal Bureau of Investigation on Friday executed search warrants on the Chicago office of David Hernandez's NextStep Medical Staffing and NextStep Financial. That's the same day Hernandez fired host Mike North and others as executives from their Internet radio venture after they sought an explanation for allegedly bounced checks in recent days.

The FBI confirmed the search, which was in connection with an ongoing investigation. No arrests were made. No other details concerning the investigation were available.

Efforts to reach Hernandez for comment have been unsuccessful.

Hernandez's Spectrum Entertainment is parent of Chicago Sports Webio, the Internet sports-talk Web site North established last year as an outlet while sitting out the remainder of his contract with CBS Radio's WSCR-AM 670, which North left last summer when renewal negotiations broke down.

NextStep Medical Staffing is also the title sponsor of "Monsters in the Morning," the show hosted by North and former Chicago Bear Dan Jiggetts that made its debut in January on Comcast SportsNet Chicago, with an audio simulcast on the Web site.

North remains co-host of "Monsters," despite Hernandez's move Friday to fire him as senior vice president. Other members of the Web site's launch team fired Friday were North's wife, Bebe, as chief operating officer and Jeff Schwartz as general sales manager.

CSN Chicago's Web site, for a time Friday, did not list "Monsters" on its schedule for next week. But the program later returned to the listings, and a CSN spokesman had no explanation for the temporary absence but said the show would run as scheduled.

North said Friday when he learned checks were bouncing, he, his wife and Schwartz unsuccessfully tried to reach Hernandez for an explanation.

"He wouldn't return our e-mails. We tried talking to him," North said. "Right now the plan is to figure out what's going on."

The sports-talk Web site start-up has drawn attention for its considerable spending, for staff, marketing and even travel. A Crain's Chicago Business blog last week quoted Hernandez as talking about expansion into broadcast radio and insisting the Web site already was making money.

"I know what my overhead expenses vs. revenues are," Hernandez told Crain's. "We're absolutely in a profit."

Who's to say he didn't? After the MacMeatPants Show was announced, maybe he was offered first dibs on the night time gig, but opted not to (because he was going to the webio).

He was under contract when they first started up - so it's not like we should give him any credit for not jumping then.
