It might be, but Lake Perch is not fine dining.

I did enjoy the perch when I went and the almost in laws I went with raved about it, of course it rivaled the next night at the Knights of Columbus hall for a wedding with the CBS dinner, (Chicken , Beef or Ssuage) and then we went to Alexanders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big Night in Da Region

Next day to INLAND STEEL PLANt port 2 for some boating and then dinner at Briar Ridge CC.

LIVING BIG BABY!

In fairness, it still beats Chicago burbs.

Nobody's mentioned Griffith yet, which is the crown jewel of NWI.

Yeah, I lived there from April '05 to July '06. There's nothing there either.

I still live here, and there's still not much.

Bridges Scoreboard Lounge (which also has great pizza AND perch) is the best set-up for an HD snob/sports fan in Chicagoland. Take a few buddies there and report back.

Dynamite Music also is a cool retail store and a place where cool teenagers take guitar and drum lessons.

When I stayed in South Shore, I enjoyed saving money by going to get gas at 106th and Indianapolis BLVD, and going to the Walmart out there on 165th and Calumet. Saved a lot on taxes.

Let's face it, the vast majority of suburban America sux big time. Give me a city or a rural area, but not much in between.

I agree, but even within suburbs, there's better and worse. The worst I've yet experienced is in central Florida. I would be homicidal within two weeks of living there; nothing but horrifically-crowded highways lined with strip malls, and subdivisions.

I did karaoke once at Bridges back in the early 90's. Yeah....is it still button 48?

Doesn't Dynamite Music also have a hair salon connected to it where a stylist named Ben F'n Moulin from the band River Oaks works his magic? See River Oaks if you ever get a chance...great band. I hope they're still together. I saw them at Kelley's once and they're outstanding!

Having done the tour over in Dyer and at Danny's pad I can say that about 95% of you would have a hard time affording the gazebo let alone his taxes in his gated commune. Booby Hull was going door to door asking for $100 bills to help start Mac's fire place back in December so that ought to tell you how nice the neighborhood is.

So, Jimmy Pasta and others have a low opinion of Northwest Indiana. I live there because the housing is cheaper, property taxes are cheaper, gas is cheaper and it is set just far enough from Chicago to be considered in the Chicago market. It's close to Chicago, yet it's also close to some nice beaches on Lake Michigan like West Beach and Mount Baldi State Park. That being said, there are a number of strange things that I see in NWI on a daily basis. This past Sunday while heading North on Calumet Avenue, I saw an interesting pick-up truck in front of me.

So, You Know You're in NWI if.....
You see a pick-up truck in front of you that has a poster board duct taped to the back window that reads:

Wanted- War Relics, Helmuts, Flags, Daggers, Guns & Ammo, etc... Call 219-xxx-xxxx
:bom:

EJ - this is the same guy that will set up camp on Central Ave and Willowcreek in Portage and have a megaphone and shout out insane comments about war atrocities. We should have Da Ma Ne get him on the new show!

I get a bit tired of NWI getting a bad rap, but then I have to agree with most of the negative comments that occur every time I go into a Walmart and see the white trashiest looking hillbillys dressed in stained wife beaters and cut off blue jean shorts with their 4 kids screaming at the top of their lungs.

It's hard to shake the stereotype with the lowest end of the gene pool contributing to the stereotype on a daily basis. Drive through Lake Station or Cedar Lake one day.... yeeeesh.

DEGENERATE DAVE did you realize that you were in the mirror section of the store?

Indiana sounds like a great place. I'm dying paying Cook taxes out in the NW suburbs.

Yeah. It was really weird to hear his sign off at webio. It was also bizarre hearing him swear and say that DH is a fucking con artist. Chet's the guy that sort of got this whole sports radio thing really rolling. It was sad to hear his tone and his disappointment about how a handshake or someone's word doesn't mean Jack anymore in this biz. :(

Im sure Sherri wouldn't mind a house boy around Spmack..I could light Mac's pipe for him and laugh at his bad jokes. Wait, he 's got Spiegal to do that for him... I'd just be his pool boy then and make my quarters in the gazebo.

B Ridge is a nice place, especially if you are looking for a house for 3 families to live together and you need a central mosque and yes other nice places exist in NWI, White Hawk for example but I need a baseball park I can puke in for Ozzie, close to my front door.

Just because a suburb has nice houses does not mean it has character...Orland for example...unless you consider malls and traffic a defining feature.

A gated subdivision is almost antithetical to the creation of community.

Back to the reverse psychology of ripping NWI.
