Good point, I wondered the same thing.

Who is "Larz" anyway? I see him running around this forum with "inside info" as to what people have said, or how they're doing etc. I just assumed he was some sort of shill for (at least) radio folks in Chicago.

Would love to know more, because that link is strange for sure.

Yeah Larz is a Chicago media wannabe. He has tried to work with, for and under every A, B, and C player in Chicago media but has never been able to get his own career going. As a result he has created his poor quality site where he prays at the altar of Chicago mior celebritydom. You can see how he operates by just posting a remark critical of his heroes and he'll either snipe back at you or remove it all together. The site sucks and is just a linkfest to other things on the internet with no scoops or original stories. More news gets broken here than there.

Larz is probably another star-struck simpleton that North bought drinks for. You guys are probably right. He thinks he's media cuz North talks to him and pushes his agenda. He seems like one of those "microphone snifferes" that Mac described. I didn't know anything about him until he started posting here. Interesting that North put his blog up on his web site when webio went bad.

lets not forget and north has said it many times, when he does a interview, he gives a larz or sherman a list of questions he will or wont answer, if i was a reporter, i would pass on him, because u wont get the answers u want. north knows who he can control and when they begin to dig, he shuts them down.

Simpleton? If it was the 1700's and we all lived in England, I'd be hurt by that remark. I'd even slap your face with your own glove.
Mike North has never bought me drinks. I have never spoken with him. I have never received an email or voice mail from him. I have never even seen him. He has never pushed any agenda on me.

Beardown wrote:

I have been around hundreds of microphones in my life. I can't recall ever sniffing a single one. Unlike you, I do know how to spell "sniffers," though...

Beardown wrote:

So even though you don't know anything about me, you still have the ability to form an opinion of me? You are soooo cool. I hope I can grow up to be just like you one day.

Beardown wrote:

That was pretty interesting, wasn't it? Nobody from NorthToNorth.com asked my permission to use that blog of mine, but had they asked, I would have said "yes." Clearly somebody there read it and liked it. It took it as a compliment. Nothing wrong with getting a compliment once in a while. How's that blog of yours coming along?

I can't say I have listen to all of North's broadcasts, but I sure don't ever remember one where he talks about giving the interviewer the questions in advance. He sure as hell has never mentioned me on the air, since he & I have never talked. A little later this year, I'd be more than happy to talk with him and/or interview him for a little project I have going on, but it hasn't happened yet and I'm not pursuing it yet.

Then again, I'm just a simpleton.

To Larz:

1. I spell words wrong. Doesn't mean I'm wrong.

2. Ok, you haven't met North. But you want to. He's your hero. You push his agent without knowing him. That's better. Why do you do that?

3. Do you think he's responsible for this webio mess? If not, why?

4. Don't like simpleton? Ok, shill. Sorry.

5. White women hate me. So do you. Welcome to the board.

1. No, but it makes it easy to pick on you. :D

2. Mike North is not my hero. I'm more of a Batman fan, personally.

3. North should have known more about the guy he was doing business with. Everybody at Webio should have. Everybody who used attorneys & agents before signing up with Webio should have had those agents do a better check. Outside of that, I put ALL of the blame on David Hernandez. He was the con man that fooled all these people. He was the crook that killed the company & hurt the employees.

4. I actually I like simpleton better.

5. I don't hate you. I just don't agree with you right now. I'd love to hear more about what you did to piss off an entire race of women, though!

To Larz & White Women:

1. You don't think he and Bebe knew they were getting bad money when they were being paid for doing nothing? If not, why are you stupid?

2. You never found Bebe having COO status curious? Do you not realize that Mike and Bebe were execs of this company? You don't think there is a certain responsibilty with that?

3. Do you think the FBI will have the "He's a great guy" attitude like you? Do you even realize the questions the FBI might have for the Norths?

4. White women hate me cuz they can.

1. I'm not stupid... I'm just workin' my new simpleton status.

2. Why was Linda McCartney in Wings? Some guys just like having their wives around.

3. Most of David Hernandez's illegal activities were outside of CSWebio. Any questions the FBI will have for the Norths will have to do with Hernandez and anything they may have witnessed him doing with the illegally obtained money.

4. Why do I get the feeling that it's not just the white women hatin' on you?

1. I figured you would dance around direct questions about the North/webio situation. More proof that you are a shill. Thanks for allowing me to expose you.

2. It's Goff, Drinky, Goff & Drinky fans, North lickers, you and white women that hate me. There might be more. Thanks for making me keep score.

Larz, I don't mean to step into the middle of this lover's squabble but I must.

Do you go back and read your "detailed" replies to questions? Do you realize that you don't really answer anything or give any insight as to your motivations, thus making you seem like a bigger pud than you already are.

Believe me, I'm no fan of member beardown either. He's touted, perhaps (and hopefully) ironically, as member of the year (or whatever) here and I just don't see it. For every decent post he makes that brings up a good question or sheds a little different angle on things, there are 400 others that just suck (and most of those are new topics). THAT SAID, he asks valid questions and it certainly seems to me (not a media guy, not a long-time message board guy, and just a generally keen observer of the passing scene) that you and Sherman have some mad man-love for North and that your motivation MUST be that you're either a sick fan boy or part of the North camp.

This message board I get - it was started by a like-minded sports fan to talk about both Chicago sports and the media that covers them (reporters, talk shows etc). I don't know what you do for a living, or why you have a horribly designed site to talk about Chicago stuff, but you certainly don't portray yourself any better than David Spada ... and that's nogouda.

So if somebody doesn't say horrible things about Mike North, there are only two choices for that person: fan boy or camp member? I happen to think there hundreds of other choices, especially since I am pretty far removed from either of your choices. I'd like to think because I am not a fan boy, not in his "camp" (assuming he even has a camp), and also because I do not have the obsessive deep hate for the man that so many of you seem to possess, I am able to look at the bigger picture more clearly.

I did not directly answer each & ever twisted point "beardown" brought up, because:
1. I already clearly stated all of those answers previously between my site and here.
2. He was more intent on calling names than hearing the truth.

I have said repeatedly that Mike North is at fault for not knowing more about his business partner in advance. He also should have kept a closer eye on the business since his name, face & reputation were so closely tied to it. That is where is fault ends, though. Numerous others, including attorneys, agents, prominent Chicago business people, all fell under David Hernandez's spell. A LOT of people missed what was going on. A LOT of people were fooled, including Mike North. The only real person at fault for the end of Webio is Hernandez.

The North's and others at Webio were not getting paid for doing nothing, as "beardown" insinuates. They were doing their jobs. Were they overpaid? Absolutely. The business model at Webio sucked. It was run by a crazy person who had seemingly infinite amount of cash that he continually stole from others across the country. However, if somebody offers you a good amount of money for you to continue doing the career that you love, and everything seems on the up & up, you take the cash & smile. That's what the Webio people did. "beardown" would have taken the cash, too. Imagine all the white women he could have pissed off by waving all that money in their face!

As far as Mike & Bebe being "execs" in the company, it was still David Hernandez that handled all of the financial aspects, not the Norths. The finances were what killed Webio. That puts the blame squarely on the financial guy: Hernandez. Also, all of the SEC & FBI investigations are looking into activities OUTSIDE of Webio. Webio's only involvement has to do with the fact that Hendandez spent the stolen money on Webio promotions. The Norths have done nothing wrong and are not under any suspicion by and local, state or federal organization.

I can totally understand why many people would dislike his radio show. I can see how that could translate into many disliking the man. I cannot understand the deep hate for him. He hasn't murdered anybody. He hasn't sent any of your family members off to war. He hasn't raised your taxes. he has not had any effect on you other than doing some radio & TV shows that you may not care for. Turn the f-ing dial and get on with your lives. When Mike would go on a political rant or talk about music he knew little about, do you know what I did? Yep. I turned the f-ing dial. If you don't like what you are hearing or seeing, there is always something better out there. To cheer because gad things have happened to Mike North, his wife & friends is pathetic.

As far as my media site goes... yes, it is colorful. I guess I just don't see things as black & white as other do. Regardless, in less than two months, the site will be redesigned into something more modern and the text areas will be nice & dull for your eyes.

Hopefully, I have answered all of yours & "beardown's" points so I won't be accused of hiding anything or being a "shill."

Larz,
Very well thought out & well written response. I like your website & enjoyed your piece on Ed Shwartz when he passed away. I,too am a North supporter on this board. BUT,I have been critical of his recent bad moves. Betting website,dontfademe.com,big joke! Jen-Jen: He makes this young girl out to be the next BIG THING in Chicago media. Everyone here see's her for what she is,a former Gibson's waitress with a pretty smile who has no problem kissing ass to move up. This WEBIO thing might have been a success. I do not see any of North's friends lining up to invest though. He has made mistakes, but the latest round has cost people their jobs. It's not getting better for him on this board, that's for sure!

What exactly was Bebe North doing as COO of the company? I would love to see a list of things she actually did while "working" there and earning money that was stolen from cancer patients.

Hi Larz,
You know I enjoy your website and I think you are being treated a little harshly here.

That said, my question is - what is your take on the fact that Hernandez was at a party at North's house in the late 90's, according to Shaer? Is it not reasonable to assume that he knew that something was up when Hernandez dropped out of sight for a couple of years shortly after that? I think their relationship is a little tighter than a lot of the media cares to admit.

Also, you are right in the fact that this whole matter covers a lot more than just Webio. It entails all of Hernandez business ventures. If I am correct then, wasn't this all put into place long, long before North claims to have blown the whistle on Hernandez over the bounced paychecks which was a day before the FBI announcement was made. I have a hard time believing that the FBI puts together a warrant for something like this on a mere day or two notice.

Thanks! I'll hang up and listen to my answer!

The DontFadeMe site was a huge mistake, especially coming from a man who is pretty bad at picking winners. I don't think he has many people backing him with that move. I sure didn't.

Jen Patterson may have come from a waitress background, but she has turned into a very good producer/promotion person. I think her looks take away from people seeing her real skills. Also, there is a big difference between loyalty & ass-kissing. However, I am not a fan of her reading reports on the "Monsters" TV show. I think there are much better people available to do that segment that would add more to the show. She should be more behind the scenes where her skills are strongest.

Mike North has made many mistakes. He didn't directly cost people their jobs, though. David Hernandez did that. Most of these people were folks Mike really liked. He had no desire to cause them harm. I do agree with you that the Webio meltdown has not gained him any new fans, especially for those who disliked him long before Webio started.

To this, I would add the word "Yet." Once Hernandez is found and a financial autopsy is performed, and the North's financials are examined, and a few questions answered, then they may be in the clear.

Halfpint - "imbedded?"
You didn't use the word right.
Quote:
Verb 1. imbed - fix or set securely or deeply; "He planted a knee in the back of his opponent"; "The dentist implanted a tooth in the gum"
embed, implant, plant, engraft
infix, insert, introduce, enter - put or introduce into something; "insert a picture into the text"
pot - plant in a pot; "He potted the palm"
nest - fit together or fit inside; "nested bowls"
bury, sink - embed deeply; "She sank her fingers into the soft sand"; "He buried his head in her lap"

Are you asking if Larz is "in bed" with North?

I have to assume that Shaer's account is correct. My understanding is that Mike North used to throw get-togethers at his home often. Hernandez was a Score fanatic that would show up at Score events, especially North ones. I believe I read that he even refinanced North's home in the 90's. I'm not surprised that North would invite the guy over to mingle at a party. He's good to friends like that. That doesn't mean the two were bosom buddies, just that they had a relationship. I've had clients & people I barely know over to my house before, too. It is quite possible that they did not know each other that well and that Mike had no knowledge of David's later felonies. That's Mike's story. It is possible he did know more. Only Mike North knows for sure. Until I see evidence otherwise, I'm taking Mike at his word, although my eyes are wide open for more information.

It was not Mike North that blew the whistle on David Hernandez. The SEC & FBI investigations were already underway long before checks were bouncing at Webio. Supposedly, it was a former employee at NextStar who say some illegal activities going on, quit the company and contacted the authorities. I believe this started even before Webio did or maybe right after it started. Once Hernandez is caught, shipped back to the US (I figure he's deep into Mexico by now) and put on trial, all of the details & evidence will come out.

Once again... WEBIO ISN'T UNDER INVESTIGATION!!! Bebe was an employee of Webio. Therefore, she is not under investigation! Only David Hernandez is under investigation for wrong doings OUTSIDE OF WEBIO and BEFORE WEBIO EVEN STARTED.
