As much as I love Mac, I'm ready to move 330 clIcks up the dial to AM1000.
Meatpants is brutal & is completely out of his league in the 3rd largest Radio market in the USA.
Mac, you gotta pull a reversal on this one and team up with someone else...

Jason Goff anyone???

John Kirk,

So the whole basis of your repetitive argument with Matt is that his voice sounds too gameshowish? I mean, that's all you got? Do you have anything of substance to add to your clear Spiegs hate?

Honestly the whole Spiegs hate thing makes you sound like either A) a boob B) an ESPN schill C) a disgruntled ex WSCR employee or lover.

I think it's clear that not everyone is crazy about Spieg's voice, but how many people would say Silvy's voice is soothing? If it was why would so many people make fun of it?

Get over the voice, put aside your obvious distaste for Matt and try to enjoy the show and analyze it. If you can give me something of more substance than "I don't like his voice", then I will take you seriously.

Until then, you are just a boob with a hard on against Spiegs.

I dont hate Spiegel. He seems like a nice guy, but I just dont like what he says or how he says it. To me he sounds like a guy on a college radio station who just learned how to speak in his radio voice. To be honest, I think Mac would be better solo than with Meat.
It's ok if you like him. I'm not trying to convince you or change your mind.
If you are looking for me to write a War & Piece length essay on why I dont care for Meatpants, your not going to get it. Hell, I gotta get some work done today!

Hey what soldier isn't looking for a "piece"?

Am I the only one who doesn't understand why Jason Goff doesn't get a chance to co-host on a regular basis? Every show Jason does is funny & interesting. I really think Mitch is missing the boat by not teaming Jason with Mac, or at least giving him a larger role at the station.
Mac & Jason would be the funniest fucking show on the Score.

IMO, Meatpants doesn't even make the top 5 list of current sportsradio guys with annoying voices...

1. Bruce Levine
2. Murph
3. Silvy
4. Harry
5. Zach

I'm assuming you mean because you think he's no longer on the air rather than that his voice is not annoying. :? According to Mac today, Murph is still with The Score and will broadcast from Murphies during the Cubs/Sox series.

Oh his voice is 10x that of nails on a chalkboard...but he is not on the air with a regular show.

I don't get all the "Meat's voice sounds wierd" angst. Thats just how he sounds. It doesn't bother me one way or another. If anything, it confirms even further that Kirk is a tool.

If you're trying to say that you sense a JOHNKIRK dislike for my fellow tribesman, I think that's just silly. Espn and da Score are dominated by those of the Hebrew persuasion. You can't help not liking some of them if you don't like everybody. If you didn't not like them you'd have noone to not like. Simple.

As Murph would say "Pick a lane".
You list three members of the Bernsie school of broadcasting: Goff, Holmes of Drinky: but you dislike the founding father.
Blowhards like Chet, Hub and North are part of your likes list, but guys like Bernsie and Spiegs who give you knowledge and edge are disliked.
I don't understand. You don't need to go Tollstoi here, but differentiate please.
Also, could you please give us at least one utterance by Spiegs that you would characterize as "stupid".

His argument that only people who have extreme emotional relationships with the HOF should debate and develop the criteria for induction was one of the dumber statements I've ever heard on talk radio. Aren't emotions generally considered a barrier to clear thinking rather than a catalyst for it?

No one cares, including meatpants and McNeil I'm sure, but I am officially out. I gave it another shot this morning, but it's just not entertaining/funny/thought-provoking radio to me....and meatpants is a big reason.

What's the deal with him referring to texters from "THE 3-1-2" or "THE 6-3-0"? Did he catch Jim Rose disease, and thinks that referring to people by their area code is cool? Lame.

In any case, I'm glad some enjoy this show and meatpants ... but I don't. I don't need to LOVE the host(s) to enjoy a show (I think Bernstein is a condescending blowhard, and Terry is a revisionist history master who is pretty lazy ... but, for the most part, enjoy their show). McNeil is fine with me, he's entertaining enough to offset his blustery self adulation - but, as I mentioned, I never listened to his WMVP show and therefore don't have the mad love that some do for him.

You can refrain from telling me to beat it ... I just wanted to lay out why this show doesn't work for me, and that they lost a potential listener that falls right in their demo.

And since meatpants is so west coast from his time doing "national", I guess I'm now supposed to say "I'm out ... rack me".

Mac and Meat both have asked texters to include a nam so they don't have to use 'the 630.'

Does this mean you will not listen anymore and therefore not make any more complaints about the show? Not trying to be funny, serious question.

I just notice how posters (including myself, in the past) bash a show and say they will never listen again and it's not even a week before they are posting about the show again. I figured out how silly it was, I'm just wondering what your thoughts are on the matter.

In defense of Meatpants regarding the texters and stating what area code they are texting from,
they have asked that the texters sign a name or moniker in there, but it has only caught on sparingly
so far. I don't like the use of the area code either but I guess you have to qualify where the text is
coming from somehow. I am still continuing to warm up to the show, I think NFL training camp will
really determine how much I am going to enjoy it and by that time they will have had some time to
break in the show a little bit.

meat knows a lot about sports. which is highly unusual for a chicago sports radio host. that may be why some people don't like him.

Ok, thanks for the explanation for the "THE 3-1-2" stuff .. hadn't heard them address it.

And, yes, I'm out. I find Mully/Hanley pretty vanilla radio that I can take or leave - won't be listening to The Danny Mac Show anymore, as it's just not my cup of tea, apparently - and will continue to catch Boers and Bernstein. I don't really care for the "ME Show", but have grown to enjoy drinky/Goff when I catch them (drinky was great last night with Gar and Vinny after the draft). Grobber is not someone I'd make an effort to listen to, but is a good listen if I'm up late or early.

Thanks for not jumping down my throat - just wanted to express my opinion. I won't clutter this glorious section anymore!

Can someone punch Meatpants in the throat? His MJ love is hackneyed and tedious.
