Have any of you been to summerfest in Milwaukee, there are some good bands playing and tickets are only ten bucks. I got some tickets and I am thinking about heading up there, I was wondering if any of you guys can tell me what its like or what to expect and maybe what you thought of it?

by far the best, summer festival in along the lake.
parking is relatively easy to find within a mile or less of the festival grounds on Wisconsin Ave or thereabouts.
the walking/eating/music areas are wide open and not like the sweat fest that is the taste of chicago. you are actually along the lake, not 200 yards away, so there are always breezes. bring a rain poncho....it rains every year. try a "Point" beer....local beer that is decent.
i recommend getting in the stands/stage area at least an hour before the band you wish to see as the stage areas fill in quickly.

Just be aware that you need to purchase a separate ticket for anything going on at the Marcus Amphitheater (like Pearl Jam/Tom Petty). But otherwise, for bands playing the other smaller stages, it is definitely worth going. Check out their website for various discounts that might be available.

I've seen some good groups like Rusted Root and Ben Harper there for free over the years and have always had a good time. Great smoked turkey legs too.

I love the crowds at Summerfest because everybody is usually totally hammered, but--and this is very unusual for a huge event like this one--not terribly annoying. It's a great atmosphere and always a fun time. I love Wisconsin.

The best beer at Summerfest is served by Water St. Brewing Co., a local brew pub. Definitely check them out. I am going to see there on Wednesday night and will be slamming beers at the Water St. tent before they take the stage.....
